Preferred Solution: ATDMT cookie...

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Okay so I have a page on Facebook and I used Facebook Connect to display stuff on a website. This is the link for the Facebook Connect:
http://www.connect.facebook.com/con...016&name=&width=300&connections=&stream=&css=

NoScript is telling me that page is running to run a script from atdmt.com but I can't find anything from that domain in the source. Regardless I looked up atdmt and found this:
http://www.ehow.com/about_5375788_atdmt.html

It doesn't look to be good. This isn't anything on my computer injecting atdmt onto Facebook is it? Because it doesn't show up elsewhere. Is Facebook using Atdmt?

A:Atdmt cookie, Facebook

I tested with a few FB connections from various sites and that script is NOT listed on any of them. It doesn't even show for me in the link you posted. Personally, when I come across a script related to an ad agency I just forbid it in NoScript. I also normally disable 3-rd party cookies and set all cookies to expire when I close FireFox.

Funny enough the whois of that domain is listed as registered to Microsoft. When you visit the homepage is says its part of Microsoft Advertising Agency.

Hi everone,
Have been annoyed for days trying to work this data miner cookie out (atdmt.com) which I believe belongs to Atlas Solutions. I couln't understand how it was coming back so often. I wasn't getting it in firefox but started to notice when using Internet Explorer and ran a scan afterwards it was detected by superantispyware and 10bit Security 360. Done a bit more delving and found if I didn't use Windows Live Messenger or go to Hotmail and ran a scan straight after, no atdmt showed in scan. But if I ran a scan after going to Hotmail or open WLM, presto there it is everytime. Do I have to suffer this frustrating cookie for ever or does someone know a way of saying goodbye to this menace once and for all?

I didn't know if I should post a log file of some kind I don't see if it would do any good I don't know if I've had this for a while or if it's new The cookie quot atdmt cookie removed atdmt.com permanently can't be com quot cannot be removed I've tried SpyBot Search and Destroy Spyware Doctor Norton Internet Security Malwarebyte Anti-malware all of them claim they've removed it but it immediately shows up again on another scanning I've tried manually deleting it but it doesn't even budge I've scoured websites and forums for solutions but none of them provide any solutions There is no toolbar addon supposedly atdmt.com cookie can't be removed permanently by Dell that I can disable there is no quot atlassolutions quot entry or key in my registry there's literally NOTHING except that one cookie and it ALWAYS comes back I've also added quot atdmt com quot to my blocked cookie and website lists for IE and Firefox but it still comes back The only thing I haven't done yet is restart in safe mode delete it manually and try again I couldn't delete it in safe mode either Sorry I don't mean to bump it but I can't edit my previous posts I tried a system restore to yesterday before my last Windows update and the cookie was there I could believe that I've had this for a while unknowingly

Read more here about Atdmt cookies:http://www.atlassolutions.com/privacy2.aspx#anti-spywareWhat browser are you using? You can make it so it does not accept cookies from them.Other than that, I would update your java to the latest version:Update Java:Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on the Software icon > add/remove programs.Search in the list for all previous installed versions of Java. (J2SE Runtime Environment.... )

It should have next icon next to it:
Select it and click Remove. The current version can be downloaded from Sun here: http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp Scroll down the page to 'Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 16' and press the 'Download' button. On the new web page, click the 'Accept License Agreement' button. Then select 'Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language' in the Windows Platform area just below the Accept button.

Having read all the other posts regarding ATDMT tracking cookie, and trying all the suggestions, none worked for me!

ATMD tracking cookie was opening when ever I opened I.E, I finally got rid of it by doing the following;

open internet expolerer

tools

manage add-ons

I then deleted some of the add-ons that I felt I no longer needed.

that worked for me.

It might have been better, if I had disabled all add-ons, then enabled one by one, that way I would have known for sure which one caused the problem.

Atlast I am finally free of that pesky little might called ATDMT

I have got a completely clean computer but AVG 8.5 and Ad-aware both find the tracking cookie atdmt.com no matter what I seem to do.
I have got it blocked in both IE and FF 3.5 but it seems to load with my MSN and looking in the reg it seems to be now part of my MSN along with bing.com, both of which can be seen on booting up and looking on Ccleaner to see what cookies are there.
I did delete the parts of my reg that had atdmt.com in it but they came back!

Does anyone have any suggestions?
I would like it gone as I do not want to turn off scan for TC in AVG and getting rid of MSN is a last resort.

Thanks.

Hello everyone,

is there a way I can assist my maintenance by preventing the spy cookie atdmt. from loading? Each time I run a full scan there it is again ... supposedly sending off details of my browsing to who knows where.

It's not all that serious but I would like to learn a bit more about the options I have
in configuring my system.

I have mozilla firefox-latest version 1-0-4, for awhile,.. but just recently my Norton's is detecting/halting quite a few 'http cookie monster' attack intrusion attempts while I browse with Firefox. It's determined to be a 'moderate' threat.... any input out there on this? [ps.I did some googling on this and went to Firefox site- just seeking members input here]

I am on Vista and I use Firefox as a browser. My computer shows signs of adware or something that causes various problems. I.E. Hitting reply on email (yahoo) and no cursor showing up to reply. Random extremely slow page loading etc. The "spe.atdmt.com" is the only suspicious name that I see on the bottom of the page when I have problems. It does not show up in my cookie menu and I can't find a way to get rid of it. Both of my spyware scans (super anti spyware and malwarebyte) are coming up clean. Can anyone help me get rid of this cookie? I don't know if that is the problem, but it couldn't hurt to get rid of it. Thanks in advance!

I m posting about my experience today with quot ATDMT com quot interfering with my online usage locking up my computer while I was trying to address and send an email via earthlink net I was waiting for the email program to load and after a few minutes I noticed that this address beginning with ATDMT com ATDMT.com was controlling my computer and exercising the hard drive to the point that nothing else could load So I just unplugged the comm line and it stopped of course I was concerned because it looked to me like some kind of virus that was downloading all of the data on my drive Turns out it was doing just that copying my usage history After googling ATDMT com I found that other users had the same complaint asking for help defining exactly what it was some forums said it was harmless while others gave advice on how to block it A few of the concerned users were on this site that s how I was led here and decided to register and post because there ATDMT.com seemed to be a number of conflicting opinions on ATDMT com activity Personally after seeing the way it locked up my computer today I m looking for advice on how to completely block it and all of it s variants So as many on this forum probably already know ATDMT com belongs to ATLAS SOLUTIONS not too recently aquired by Microsoft I m posting this information for those who don t know the source and think they may have picked up some kind of BOT or Virus Atlas Solutions collects user traffic data anonymously they claim for Microsoft and others Atlas has a quot PRIVACY POLICY quot that is available to read here http www atlassolutions com privacy aspx This is really an education for anyone who hasn t seen it Microsoft pitches the capabilities of Atlas and similar variants as the solution to advertisers visibility into the online habits of potential customers and they have multiple ways of slicing and dicing it The Privacy Policy talks a lot about cookies and anonymous data collection What I thought was funny was that if you want to OPT OUT of their data collection activity the only way they can do it is to PLACE A COOKIE on your computer that tells it s harvesting programs quot Don t Enter Here quot What a joke http www atlassolutions com privacy aspxIf anyone has anything to add I d appreciate hearing about it Thanks Much BlindEye

Q: atdmt

I've just noticed a couple of threads on atdmt and people's concerns about it.

As most of you know this is a tracking cookie. This is normally dropped onto your browser after you've viewed or clicked on an ad, and/or just completed an application/purchase online.

While they're not harmful, they do track how you traverse throughout the net, and you may see ads that are more relevant based on your particular details, or past (purchasing) behaviour.

To avoid having them on your machine, set your browser to reject third party cookies and clear your cache/cookies on a regular basis. Alternatively try contacting Atlas, but don't bet your lifesavings on it..

How do I know this? I worked there

A:Atdmt and 2o7

Good evening. This link is a good read on cookies, but if you prefer the simpler version:Cookies are text files placed on your system by various websites and although they can be easily removed, if you go back to the site(s) that put them there in the first place, they will put them there again and you'll have to remove them again. The only way to avoid a particular cookie is to avoid the site that puts it on your system.Consider them to be the computing equivalent of the hangover and you have to decide whether they are sufficiently bad to stop you doing what causes them in the first place - obviously the hair of the dog doesn't work with cookies, or hangovers either in my opinion.I hope this goes some way to answering your query.

Welcome to TSG....

Also:

To download HJTsetup.exe from SpyKiller To Download HijackThis go to the following at the File Repository
Click on the link below to Download HijackThis Self Installer:

http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/HJTsetup.exe

Save the file to your desktop.
Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\HijackThis.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialog boxes until you get to the Select Additional Tasks dialog.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialog box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
At the top of the Notepad HJT log screen, hit Edit then Select All then click Edit and then click Copy doing that copies the text to the clipboard, you won't see it yet....
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply. DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
A security expert with a gold shield to the right of their name should take a look at your log - please be patient.

When I access this site, I have noticed in addition to Avenue A. Com, atdmt.com also appears as a malicious cookie in AdSubtract.
What are your thoughts?

Download a program like Spyware Blaster which doesn't use system resources and keeps junk like that out..

Yesterday I carried out what proved to be an unsuccessfull installation of Search and Recover 4 from iolo on my new PC which is running Vista Home Premium. S&R just won't run and I've contacted iolo technical support.

Soon after the failed install I realised that some of my protection had become disabled and although I re-enabled it immediately I then hit a problem with Internet Explorer. At random it kept jumping to a Google search for "view.atdmt.com\(random entries)"

Someone on Google suggested I block "atdmt.com" and I've done that which has improved the situation. Has anyone else had problems with Search and Recover 4/Vista and do I need to do anything else to my machine to get rid of atdmt.com completely?

A:Atdmt problem!

Cookies are text string messages given to a Web browser by a Web server. Whenever you visit a web page or navigate different pages with your browser, the web site generates a unique ID number which your browser stores in a text (cookie) file that is sent back to the server each time the browser requests a page from that server. Cookies allow third-party providers such as ad serving networks, spyware or adware providers to track personal information. The main purpose of cookies is to identify users and prepare customized Web pages for them.Persistent cookies have expiration dates set by the Web server when it passes the cookie and are stored on a user's hard drive until they expire or are deleted. These types of cookies are used to store information between visits to a site and collect identifying information about the user such as surfing behavior or preferences for a specific web site.Session (transient) cookies are not saved to the hard drive, do not collect any information and have no set expiration date. They are used to temporarily hold information in the form of a session identification stored in memory as you browse web pages. These types of cookies are cached only while a user is visiting the Web server issuing the session cookie and are deleted from the cache when the user closes the session. The type of persistent cookie that is a cause for some concern are "tracking cookies" because they can be considered a privacy risk. These types of cookies are used to track your Web browsing habits (your movement from site to site). Ad companies use them to record your activity on all sites where they have placed ads. They can keep count of how many times you visited a web page, store your username and password so you don't have to log in and retain your custom settings. When you visit one of these sites, a cookie is placed on your computer. Each time you visit another site that hosts one of their ads, that same cookie is read, and soon they have assembled a list of which of their sites you have visited and which of their ads that you have clicked on. They are used all over the Internet and advertisement companies often plant them whenever your browser loads one of their banners. Cookies are NOT a "threat". Cookies cannot be used to run code or to deliver viruses to your computer. As text files they cannot be executed to cause any damage. Cookies do not cause any pop ups or install malware. As long as you surf the Internet, you are going to get cookies and some of your security programs will flag them for removal. However, you can minimize this by referring to:Blocking & Managing Unwanted CookiesBlock Third-Party Cookies in IE7Enough is Enough! Restrict the use of cookiesThe Cookie Manager in Mozilla FirefoxManageing Cookies in Firefox

Hi and welcome to TSG,

I accidentally deleted your posts when combining them both together.

I apologize for that and am reposting it here for you.

Hello,

I am new here and I have a question. Starting two days ago everytime I get on the internet when I go to certain pages, part of the page will load and then I get an alert that says, "operation timed out trying to connect to view.atdmt.com". I click ok and the rest of the page loads. I have a DSL line and this greatly increases the time it takes a page to load. Since this started happening I cannot even open CNN.com or Google.com. Also some of my emails, the pictures will not load. This happens when I run Firefox 1.0 or IE.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!Click to expand...

My computer has been hijacked by view.atdmt.com and/or other malware. IE8 is working but Firefox being my primary browser is malfuctioning. ,

I use vista, on a gateway laptop

A belated hello gt9084,

The key in what you said is "certain websites". That ad maker is from an ad server used by those websites. Scroll down here to the IE Hosts file listing, and you can use that to block many ad server IP's, including some from atdmt.com.

PC is running winxp sp2. I also run avg(free) and avg antispyware(free) and spybot sd-resident.

Is there a solution?

Thanks,
Wayne (bogged)

I have the problem when accessing Windows Media Player. When I click on the radio tuner button, I start to get the pop-up ads. The ads have the http://view.atdmt.com address. Every time I try to select a station search, I get a new ad. Windows Media Player works fine when going to my saved music playlists. I am using Windows XP Home edition. Can someone please help me get rid of this intruder. THANKS!

My understanding is cookies from atdmt.com are I.E. and Live Mail and are in partnership with Microsoft. Removing them is easy but keeping them from coming back is the problem I'm having. Other than being a tracking cookie what else do they do. If I could stop them would their be ill effects? Googling I have found this problem has been around for years. Every site has methods to stop them but when continuing to read proves that they don't work. So two questions.
1. The best way to stop them
2. Will their be ill effects when using I.E. or Live Mail.
Note: I use I.E. for my banking.

A:Microsofts atdmt.com cookies

I use Live Mail and Microsoft Partnership and have no cookies coming back from atdmt.com. These are the settings on my PC:block cookies from the site
DNT+ BHO
Ghostery BHO
There's no problem accessing Live Mail with IE9. If in your case it keeps coming back, you could try adding this to the "host" file:

Code:

127.0.0.1 atdmt.com
That ought to prevent any browser connection to atdmt.com...

Note: I use IE as my main browser...

Hi, I'm very new to these boards and I couldn't find anywhere else on here where this is being discussed. On some websites: Myspace, Amazon etc...I continue to get re-routed to a blank google screen that usually says "Please click here if you are not re-directed" (or something along those lines) In the address bar it always reads ad.doubleclick.net, view.atdmt.com or ad.yieldmanager.
Has anyone had problems with this? Is there an easy way to repair the situation?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Despite telling my cousin s husband that he cannot use my computer he got on my Two-WEEK-old computer and apparently infected it by going to the atlas solutions site I have malware solution atdmt.com--atlas done a massive amount of research and can t seem to find out how to completely get rid of this It makes my computer run slow and it automatically closes anything I have open on my computer including IE The first thing it started atdmt.com--atlas solution malware doing was it kept opening up Windows Help I would close it and it would pop back up again over and over to the point that I could no longer do anything because ANY program I tried to open only opened the Windows Help and not the program that I was attempting to open I blocked this program from opening up which seemed like putting a Band-Aid on a broken arm atdmt.com--atlas solution malware to me and that helped for a while with that particular problem Of course I now have worse problems going on I have cleared my IE settings and I have blocked the website atdmt com Can someone suggest something else to get rid of or at least help with this problem before I have to murder my cousin s husband Btw I have Vista Please help Sorry this is so long nbsp

I'd also like to add that for the last couple of weeks I have been inundated with requests from email addresses on MSN messenger from "people" I don't know. I block each and every request but they just don't stop. About 3 every time I log in.

These cookies are returning despite blocking all third party cookies and blocking the offending websites in my Firefox Privacy options.

A:IE8 Issue ( view.atdmt.com ) Help Needed.

Try reading through some of the sites: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&cli...;oq=&aqi=g1I can't find a definite answer, but according to the first result, you may be able to edit the registry to solve the issue, but I would be very hesitant and BACKUP your registry before attempting to follow his instructions.

Please note that these fixes are not instantaneous. Most infections require more than one round to properly eradicate.

Please stay with me until given the 'all clear' even if symptoms seemingly abate.

Kindly follow my instructions and please do no fixing on your own or running of scanners unless requested by a helper.

Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running ComboFix:

First of all I thought I was computer literate.........
I use Microsoft Internet Explorer for the internet. I have no trouble connecting to the internet but when I do connect and am typing in an email adress (for example ebay.com) it will direct me to that address and after a few seconds of loading will redirect me to http://view.atdmt.com/AVE/iview/yhxxxanc0420000087ave/direct;wi.300;hi.250/01?1215657987822204

and then gives me this message:

Sorry we couldn't find http://view.atdmt.com/AVE/iview/yhxxxanc0420000087ave/direct%3Bwi.300%3Bhi.250/01%3F1215657987822204. Here are some related websites

Is this some kind of Spyware? Other similar questions from posts on your site seem to imply it is but if so, why didn't my antivirus/spyware protection catch it and how do I get rid of it. It does this over and over when trying to access all different kinds of sites and it is driving me mad!

Download the following:Malwarebytes Anti-MalwarePlease download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.Download Link 1Download Link 2MBAM may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you. Temporarily disable such programs or permit them to allow the changes.Make sure you are connected to the Internet.Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
For instructions with screenshots, please refer to the How to use Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Guide. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:Update Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareLaunch Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareThen click Finish.MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the definition updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install. On the Scanner tab:Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected. Then click on the Scan button. If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button. The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient. When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.Back at the main Scanner screen:Click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad. The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply. Be sure to post the complete log to include the top portion which shows MBAM's database version and your operating system.Exit MBAM when done.Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be asked to reboot your computer so MBAM can proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally (not into safe mode) will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.SUPERAntiSpyware:Please download and scan with SUPERAntiSpyware FreeDouble-click SUPERAntiSypware.exe and use the default settings for installation. An icon will be created on your desktop. Double-click that icon to launch the program. If it will not start, go to Start > All Prgrams > SUPERAntiSpyware and click on Alternate Start. If asked to update the program definitions, click "Yes". If not, update the definitions before scanning by selecting "Check for Updates". (If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here. Double-click on the hyperlink for Download Installer and save SASDEFINITIONS.EXE to your desktop. Then double-click on SASDEFINITIONS.EXE to install the definitions.)In the Main Menu, click the Preferences... button.Click the "General and Startup" tab, and under Start-up Options, make sure "Start SUPERAntiSpyware when Windows starts" box is unchecked.Click the "Scanning Control" tab, and under Scanner Options, make sure the following are checked (leave all others unchecked):Close browsers before scanning.Scan for tracking cookies.Terminate memory threats before quarantining.Click the "Close" button to leave the control center screen and exit the program.Do not run a sca... Getting the cookie bar on this website again. This time I followed the link to a UK web site...https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/guide-to-pecr/cookies-and-similar-technologies/. While the site does use a secure connection it is placing cookies on my machine and not notifying me of the fact, or asking my permission, LOL. While I do not allow third party or session cookies as a normal course of action I do normally allow first party cookies. Hypocrites, do as we say, not as we do. Hi,

Can't get rid of the '64.111.196' cookie that keeps showing up on Xoftspy and Malwarebytes scans.

It is hijacking my google search almost always.
Any help?

A:64.111.196 cookie won't go away

Hiya

Are you still having this problem? If so, can you do the following:

Download TFC by OldTimer to your desktop

Please double-click TFC.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
It will close all programs when run, so make sure you have saved all your work before you begin.
Click the Start button to begin the process. Depending on how often you clean temp files, execution time should be anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or two. Let it run uninterrupted to completion.
Once it's finished it should reboot your machine. If it does not, please manually reboot the machine yourself to ensure a complete clean.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.
Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediatly.

Download and scan with SUPERAntiSpyware Free for Home Users
Double-click SUPERAntiSpyware.exe and use the default settings for installation.
An icon will be created on your desktop. Double-click that icon to launch the program.
If asked to update the program definitions, click "Yes". If not, update the definitions before scanning by selecting "Check for Updates". (If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download and unzip them from here.)
Under "Configuration and Preferences", click the Preferences button.
Click the Scanning Control tab.
Under Scanner Options make sure the following are checked (leave all others unchecked):
Close browsers before scanning.
Scan for tracking cookies.
Terminate memory threats before quarantining.

Click the "Close" button to leave the control center screen.
Back on the main screen, under "Scan for Harmful Software" click Scan your computer.
On the left, make sure you check C:\Fixed Drive.
On the right, under "Complete Scan", choose Perform Complete Scan.
Click "Next" to start the scan. Please be patient while it scans your computer.
After the scan is complete, a Scan Summary box will appear with potentially harmful items that were detected. Click "OK".
Make sure everything has a checkmark next to it and click "Next".
A notification will appear that "Quarantine and Removal is Complete". Click "OK" and then click the "Finish" button to return to the main menu.
If asked if you want to reboot, click "Yes".
To retrieve the removal information after reboot, launch SUPERAntispyware again.
Click Preferences, then click the Statistics/Logs tab.
Under Scanner Logs, double-click SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log.
If there are several logs, click the current dated log and press View log. A text file will open in your default text editor.
Please copy and paste the Scan Log results in your next reply.

Click Close to exit the program.

I was scanning my system with Bitdefender and I got 3 cookies detected as viruses. (Cookie.Rub, Cookie.Mediaplex, and Cookie.Advertising.) What is the deal with Cookie.Rub?

A:Cookie.Rub

Rub is a cookie.Cookies are small text files stored in the browser on the user's computer, when visiting web pages.Cookies store information that can be used for several purposes: to personalize web browsing, to gather demographic information about how many users visit a page, to monitor which banners are displayed to the user, etc. These uses are not, in theory at least, malicious. However, keep in mind that the misuse of cookies could threaten an individual's privacy. Rub prevents access from programs to websites of several companies related with security tools (antivirus programs, firewalls, etc.).Rub redirects attempts to access web pages of certain banks to spoofed pages, with the aim of logging information entered by the user in these pages.Rub redirects attempts to access several web pages to a specific IP address.See PANDA

Vista Home Premium SP BitDefender Internet Security Just recently BDIS is finding this Cookie o virus It removes it but the next scan finds it again Yesterday the scan found two of these and the Cookie.2o7.net second was called Cookie doubleclick or something like that That one didn't show up today I have scanned with Spyware Doctor SUPERAntispyware and Malwarebytes and nothing is found with these programs I have gone into Tools Internet Options Security Restricted Sites Sites and tried to add this item to Cookie.2o7.net the list and it tells me this is Cookie.2o7.net already listed in another zone and I have to remove it from there before adding it here I went to Tools Internet Options Privacy Settings Sites and found this item listed there so I removed it and then went back to the above location to try and add it and was given the same message so I added in back to this location I checked my cookie settings and I have selected to block rd party cookies Is there any way I can get rid of this

A:bad cookie

Just to see if it's a browser related issue, try this:
Make sure Firefox is closed. Press Win+R, type firefox.exe -profilemanager and press enter. Make yourself a new profile and try the site.
Other passwords are still saved?
Make sure to post back.

Hi,

Can anyone help???

Went on to website last night to download a launcher, and ended up with a tracking cookie on my computer.

When I go on to a web page, my AVG Resident Shield Alert pops up telling me I have a Multiple Threat Detection.
Infection List
File Name
c:\documents and settings\owner\cookies\[email protected][1].txt
c:\documents and settings\owner\cookies\[email protected][2].txt

Threat Name
Found tracking cookie.euroclick
detecton on open.

Have downloaded easyspam, but this does not seem to have picked them up.
Have deleted all cookies from my computer too.

Can anyone help with this.
Thanks

I just looked this up, I had downloaded it long ago when I first had a computer and wasn't sure how to use it then.

Turns out it's only a free trial and then has to be "bought".

Since I'm on a very limited budget, I try to find things that are FREE.

Anyone know the name of something similar that is free?

I would like to set it up so I can save some cookies (I want, like T.V.Guide Channel settings) and get rid of the rest, without having to go over them one by one.

Thanks,
Carrie

SC,

Try looking here.

I use cookiewall and can then either delete them automatically, accept automatically, or accept temporarily.

After installing the latest Microsoft patches that were released on Tues I noticed that all my cookies being installed after the update have weird file names such as ENV8RRRH. Prior to the updates the file names in the cookie folder were listed as user [email protected] with a file name you could recognize such as user [email protected] This was helpful in determining what cookies to manually delete. Now you have to open each individual cookie file in notepad to try to determine if I want to save it or delete it which is a real pain. I don't want to delete all the cookies because some I need such as accessing my bank account log on information. Anyone have an explanation on why this format was changed in IE9 and if there is a solution.

Welcome
I think that you are more interested in saving your important cookies, and deleting the uninportant ones. I feel the same and handle it this way.
Download ccleaner
Check the cookies category for deletion (there are two) untick system temporary files.
Use the computer for a while, go to your sites and make your bank deposits, buy your stocks etc. Then go to the cookie listing and right clikc both columns and then click intelligent scan. The garbage cookies will not be touched but the valid ones will be saved.
That being said, I would make a scan with malwarebytes and my anti virus, just to be sure that the cookies that appear constantly are not malware
Good luck
