Preferred Solution: Wks Old NEW Dell Studio 15...BLUE SCREEN! Help with HJT LOG!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I just replaced the screen on this laptop. Only about 1/4 of the screen on the left side is working and is working right. The system is running Vista and it boots up right. Wonder if the inverter needs replaced. Other 3/4 is a dark gray with no cursor showing. Need to fix for Mom. Please help. Thanks.

Check cable which connect display to mobo firstly. If not cable, rest you already said.

I purchased a new pc for the express purpose to play SC2 and Civilization 5. I got the a Dell Studio with windows 7, intel core i7, 8gig ram, and the evga geforce gt 240. When playing both games the screen will randomly (some times i can get through 30mins, some times only 5mines) go black and freeze. Nothing works but a cold reboot. At first a minimizing would work, but now not even that. I've made sure my drivers were\are up to date but that's not helped. Any ideas?

My Dell studio one developed a glitch recently. A single cell from a pop-down menu freezes on the screen until i manually shut down the dwm.exe process using task manager. The source of the pop-down cell could be any program and anywhere on the screen. I have tried to reinstall the operating system as an upgrade but i get a message that the system on the computer is newer and as a result the attempted upgrade is cancelled.
Any suggestions as to how I mighr repair this problem?

A:Pop-down cell freezing on Dell Studio One screen.

I found this solution on the web and it worked!
Go to Start menu
Right-click on Computer
Choose “Properties”
click “Advanced system settings”
In the Performance section, click the “Settings” button
In the “Visual Effects” tab de-select the option for "Fade out menu items after clicking.

I bought a new Dell Studio laptop a few months ago and when I went to turn it on last night the screen was black. When I go to hit the letter keys and the spacebar on the keyboard, I hear a sound (error sound?). It was working perfectly fine before. This is my first laptop and where I use it there is WIFI. Not sure if there's something that I pressed on the laptop or hit a switch somewhere. What should I do? It can't be pooched already. =(

Hi... I wanted to know about the price of the screen of Dell studio 1555 and also the warranty info?
Right now I have a Glossy screen. i want to know if matte finish screen is also available ?

A:Screen Replacement Dell Studio 1555

Somewhere between $70 (low resolution) and $150 (FHD).  Both matte and glossy screens were offered;  most vendors will offer a 90-day warranty on everything except breakage.

Hi all I own a Dell Studio laptop I ve been having some issues with the computer lately that I ve actually had with a previous Acer laptop Both problems initially involved moving the computer With the Acer the computer just shut down when I would pick it up to move it My Problem Laptop Dell Studio Screen 7 problem now started with the screen going black when I moved the computer The light indicating that the Dell Studio 7 Laptop Screen Problem computer is on is still lit and it seems that the computer itself is actually running and the lcd is on but the screen is dark and doesn t respond to the mouse or keyboard movement I have to do a hard shut down and reboot At times the computer will run fine for a fairly long period of time before this occurs again Other times I can t even get through the splash screen before the screen goes black And on other occasions the computer will boot up and seem to be running fine and the screen will freeze completely but not go black Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks Will nbsp

Hello
My laptop screen just suddenly stopped displaying anything, there's no dell logo on startup, I got a 5-3-2-1 beep sequence ( although, the 5 was a sort of melody that went on 3 times before the ordinary 3-2-1 beeping ) I've been browsing forum after forum and none of the solutions are helping. When I switch the power on I can hear the fan turning on like normally but screen stays blank. Please may you help me
Kind regards

A:Dell studio 1558 screen black

Unplug the system, remove the battery and hold the power button for 30 sec.  Remove and reinstall the memory modules.
Try again - if you still get the same multiple beep errors, the mainboard is toast - given the age of the system, start shopping for a replacement system.

Hello I have a Dell Studio which doesn rsquo t display any Studio with 1537 screen black Dell video output the screen is completely black I ran the D Power test Dell Studio 1537 with black screen and the screen displayed different colors and then the laptop tried to boot as always but nothing changed I also ran the F diagnostics and got the error Error Code - LCD EDID - Unable to access EDID EEPROM I thought that it could be that the LCD cable to the motherboard was cut because the screen hinge is broken and somehow it rsquo s been touching the cable for a long time It seems that the cable is slightly damaged but not enough But what worries Dell Studio 1537 with black screen me the most is that I connected the laptop to an external screen through a VGA cable and I had screen issues in the external monitor some stripes and soon I got a blue screen However if I enter Windows Safe Mode I don rsquo Dell Studio 1537 with black screen t have any problem I reseated the LCD cable and nothing changed Should I buy a new cable or as it seems I have a GPU problem If that rsquo s the case does it have any solution Thank you

Hi Carbosoc
Thanks for writing to us.
Do you mean on an external monitor in safemode the display works fine?
Please try updating the video drivers and observe on external screen again.
Have you tried running the LCD test by holding the letter D and then power up the machine?
If yes, did you see any display on the internal screen?
Do provide us your system tag#, email address and name via private message,by clicking on my name in blue and then select send a private message

Hi everyone, recently been having an issue with my Dell Studio 1537, when I push the lid back the screen goes very dark, if I shine a light on it a can just about see what's on the screen, if I move the screen towards me again it flickers back on. I thought it might be an issue with the backlight inverter or a loose connection of some sort but its been tricky pinning down exactly what it is but it does seem to be sensitive to movement, can a failing backlight inverter work intermittently like this?

A:Dell Studio - Screen goes dark when moving the lid

I had the same problem with a laptop a couple of years ago. I actually pin pointed the problem down to a wire. A wire that feeds into the screen was getting pinched slightly and it was causing the backlight not to work. If you are inclined to try, I would carefully take it apart and check for any pinched or crimped wire(s).

I have a year-old Dell Studio laptop Dying Studio Dell 1537 LCD Screen that I have babied and taken good care of As soon as warranty ran out I Dell Studio 1537 LCD Screen Dying split it open cleaned it out and tightened hinges etc All of the internals are still running fine HDD motherboard Wifi webcam etc however in the last few months the LCD has taken on an unfortunate attribute It has magenta reddish lines going horizontally across the screen that can be manipulated by tapping on the sides of the display Because of this observation I m quite sure it s not a software issue I just took it all apart today and thought it might be the ribbon cable on the back of the LCD that has to be touching the conductive metal at the bottom of the back of the display I tried to secure with some creative taping as its adhesiveness has worn away I checked the ribbon cable s connections and found those all secure Again everything is displaying fine on the display it just has the magenta lines covering the screen From the looks of it it is not an inverter issue Here is a video of the brute http www youtube com watch v u jMVriWjJI amp feature youtu be Any ideas nbsp

A:Dell Studio 1537 LCD Screen Dying

I cant imagine any software causing that.It could be that the screen itself has had it or a bad video or graphics card. The best thing would be to take it somewhere and find out exactly what the problem is and go from there.

Hi

I have had this laptop for about four years and the last time I tried to switch it on I could hear it booting up but the screen remained black.

I have tried connecting it to an external monitor and the image is scratchy with lines going down the screen. I can however run it in safe mode using the external monitor and the picture is fine.

Is this likely to be a graphics card issue? Any idea if it's possible to replace it and what the cost would be? Trying to figure out if I'd be better off purchasing a new laptop.

Thanks

A:Dell Studio 1537 Black Screen

It could be either the graphics or video card or a problem with the screen itself.First take it somewhere and find out for sure and go from there before you buy another laptop. It might be an easily fixable problem that might not be to expensive to fix.

Let me first start off by saying I have limited knowledge on PCs.

I was browsing the internet when out of nowhere it started acting up. McAfee popped up in the bottom of the screen and my laptop began lagging pretty bad. Well it got stuck at that point with absolutely no response to any commands so I powered it off. When attempting to power back on, it loaded about 2/3 of the way on the welcome screen, and then froze at that point. It repeatedly does this. Upon hitting ESC, it says that my system BIOS are shadowed and my video BIOS are shadowed. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

A:Dell Studio 1570 Crash Dump Blu Screen

No significant info in the dump file (it blames the Windows kernel).
Please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions:

Quote:
Using Driver Verifier is an iffy proposition. Most times it'll crash and it'll tell you what the driver is. But sometimes it'll crash and won't tell you the driver. Other times it'll crash before you can log in to Windows. If you can't get to Safe Mode, then you'll have to resort to offline editing of the registry to disable Driver Verifier.

So, I'd suggest that you first backup your stuff and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Win7 Startup Repair feature).

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out.

Reboot into Windows (after the crash) and turn off Driver Verifier by going back in and selecting "Delete existing settings" on the first page, then locate and zip up the memory dump file and upload it with your next post.

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.
If that doesn't work, post back and we'll have to see about fixing the registry entry off-line.

Dell team,
Recently my laptop fell down and thereafter white screen appears on the display. I checked with external monitor and found the system boots normally. I also tried LCD display test by holding "D" and powering up the laptop. It did show various colors on the display and that suggests LCD is fine. I opened the laptop and tried to reset the LCD cable. But the issue exists still. Is the issue with video cable? If so, where can I get the replacement part?
Thank you,
Jai

A:white screen issue with dell studio 1555

Hi JAIGANESH7681
Thanks for writing to us.
That looks to be an issues with the LCD cable. Keeping in mind the LCD test and the external monitor it works fine.
Does it makes any difference if you swing the screen back and forth while on white screen?
You can call up our part sales team for the part on 1-866-440-3355.

I dropped my laptop and now the LCD screen exhibits some distortion. I can still make out images (see a complete screen). There are just some rippling flowy lines across the screen and colors that should be white are showing up magenta. This happened twice before after I dropped it and both times my computer seemed to heal itself. The second time it went back to normal was after I squeezed the plastic covering over the left hinge that it slightly cracked where the plastic parts meet on the covering's edge.

Also the colors move/wave when I plug in the power cord.

I sat down to my laptop pushed the power button and the keyboard lit up and it began to make loading sounds but then it went quiet and nothing ever came on the screen, just blackness. I tried holding in the power button to do a hard reset but the moment I touched the power button everything shut off, this is not usual behavior. There is a disc in the DVD drive but pushing the eject button does nothing, that's when I realized the keyboard was not responding. I've done the remove the battery, remove AC plug, hold power 30 seconds, replace AC and try turning on, didn't work. I've tried removing and then replacing hard drive, didn't work. Can't use Fn hold down then push power because keyboard is not responding. I'm at a loss and mega freaking out. Please help if you can.

Hey my dad bought me a Dell Studio XPS 8100 with windows 7 and when ever I login the screen gets all glitchy and stuff jumps around and idk how to fix it....Does anyone else have this problem? And if so can anyone fix it? Also, I don't know if this has anything to do with this or not but when i first started the computer it had two .exe files crash while installing windows. The .exes were called sprtstart64.exe and i cant remeber the last one completely but it also ended with start64.exe and I've already tried updateing the video driver, changing to a different monitor, and using the system recovery disk and nothing has worked so far so if anyone can fix this please help.

A:Glitchy screen on Windows 7 Dell studio XPS 8100 (desktop computer)

Did you update the drivers using those from Dell, or another site?

Which Windows 7? 32 or 64 bit?
RIGHT click "computer".
left click "properties".

Is the computer new or pre owned / used / refurbished?

Did the problem begin right out of the box?

Have you contacted Dell? This system might be under warranty.

What happens if you boot directly to safe mode?

Edit:
Is this your system?

Hi guys,

I hope this is the right place and I'm alright to post this. I couldn't find another thread relating to the exact same problem, as they have hijackthis logs etc. whereas I cannot get onto my laptop to do anything at all.

I am running a Dell Studio 1555 with Windows 7. When I turn it on I can hear it boot, but everytime the screen just stays black. I cannot start it in safemode or do anything. It is just black.

I would greatly appreciate some advice as to what I can do, the only possible thing I can think is that the other day I used CC Cleaner and it did some things to the registry. Otherwise I have not downloaded anything or done anything that should suddenly make it stop working.

Sounds like a memory issue.

Have you done any memory upgrades lately

I'd pop the memory cover off, remove and reinsert the modules and try again.
Make sure you remove the AC and battery before removing the cover

Can anyone help?

A:[SOLVED] Boot Problem: Dell XPS 600 only get the blue Dell screen

Press F8 during bootup and see if you can get to the XP boot menu. If you can't get to the boot menu, it could be a hardware issue or corrupt files on the HDD. With a boot CD or XP CD you can verify the system will boot, that will help verify the hardware is mostly functional.

If you can reach the boot menu, try booting into Safe Mode. If it won't boot into Safe Mode, you will need the recovery disks or a XP CD and perform a Repair

Hello, armstrong1. Welcome to TSF. This is less likely a malware issue and more likely a video driver or hardware issue.

The bugcheck was: 0x00000116

We can run a different tool to help ensure there's no malware afoot. If none is found you can have the BSOD experts at TSF review your case.

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit (MBAR) from here Malwarebytes | Anti-Rootkit BETA - Free Rootkit Scanner & Remover and save it to your desktop.
http://downloads.malwarebytes.org/file/mbar

Next, exit Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (MBAM) if it is running. You can do so via the notification area icon near the clock. Right click on the MBAM icon , and select Exit.

Next...Double click on the MBAR file you downloaded.
Approve the UAC prompt in Vista and newer operating systems.
Click OK on the next screen, to allow the package to extract the contents of the file to it's own folder, mbar.
By default, this will be on your desktop, though you can choose another location if you wish. We advise using the default location for simplicity.
mbar.exe will launch automatically. On some systems, this may take a few extra seconds. Please be patient and wait for the program to open.
After reading the Introduction, click 'Next' if you agree.
On the Update Database screen, click on the 'Update' button.
Once you see 'Success: Database was successfully updated' click on 'Next'.
Click the 'Scan' button.

A.With some infections, you may see two messages boxes.
1.'Could not load protection driver'. Click 'OK'.
2.'Could not load DDA driver'. Click 'Yes' to this message, to allow the driver to load after a restart. Allow the computer to restart. Continue with the rest of these instructions.

If malware is found, do NOT press the Cleanup button when the scan completes. Click EXIT.

Then, please send the following logs as attachments to your reply. These logs are located in the mbar folder on your desktop where the tool extracted itself to.

If you are also running an Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 processor and Intel G45/G43 Chipset I sure could use a copy of your driver for the SM Bus Controller.

Thanks

A:Anybody running 64-bit dell studio 540 with dell motherboard 0m017g a00 ?

Thanks Sticky for posting the latest Intel update.
This solved my problem. Also had to update and install latest Java before any of this worked.
Side note: Intel installed 16 driver updates. Doing a complete software re-install is not that much fun.

Hi Lads, if you could help with this I would appreciate it, it's a Dell Inispiron desktop.

A:Blue Screen On Dell Desktop

themorus, welcome to Seven forums. I will try to help you with this. You only have one dump file this is what the dumps say.

BugCheck 4E, {2, b1b2e, 1b7fff, 1}
Probably caused by : memory_corruption ( nt!MiUnlinkPageFromLockedList+8d )
Followup: MachineOwner
However there were several references to the hard drive and file system too. I also need more specific hardware descriptions complete with Manufacturer and model numbers where possible. I know Dell rebrands everything, but they are usually made by someone else. I would like you to tell me if any of the components were added by you after you bought the machine. please add info about the PSU as well as the graphics card manufacturer and model number. This may help you.
Please fill out your System Specs

   Information
Your System Specs will help us to help you, and doing it in this manner will make them available to all helpers in every post and keep us from hunting for them. We ask that you fill them out in as much detail as possible including Desktop or Laptop, Model number if it is an OEM computer and all components with the Manufacturer and Model number if possible.

If you will go to your last post and click the 'System Specs' in the bottom left of the post, you will find a link to update your system specs. Please fill those out in as much detail as possible, making sure to click save at the bottom of the page. If you would like to know what we would like, you can click 'My System Specs' at the bottom left of this post to see mine. If you do not know what your components are, this will help you accomplish this task. System Info - See Your System Specs

Please run Seatools for DOS ( SeaTools for DOS | Seagate ) and run the short test as well as the long test and run
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html.

If those pass without any issues please run memtest86+. These are the instructions.
Please Run Memtest86+

   Information
Please download from this site only http://www.memtest.org/ in the middle of the page are the Download links, you can download the ISO.zip or the Auto USB Flash Drive installer.zip

Extract the Zip file. If you chose the ISO image, burn it to a CD using Windows Disk Image Burner or any Image burner you may have. If you downloaded the Auto USB installer, extract it, insert your USB 2.0 Flash Drive and take note of the drive letter. Run the installer, select the Flash Drive Letter, check the format box and press next. It will install memtest86+ to a flash drive. You can use either V4.20 or V5.01. Boot from your selected media. If you use V5.01 it will tell you to press certain buttons at the start, please press no buttons. The test will begin on it's own and continue to run until you stop it. It needs to run for 8 complete passes or until you receive an error. If you receive an error, stop the test. Even 1 error is a fail. Each pass tests a different part of the ram and each of the 10 tests in each pass tests something different. It takes a minimum of 8 passes to completely test the ram, more passes are better. It is quite a long test and will take several hours depending on how much ram you have. Due to the time length it is best to run overnight. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask
Let us know how those tests work out for you.

I've searched and searched and all I find is suggestions to contact Dell. My system is NOT a Dell. But, I am getting the following Blue Screen error. Sometimes I simply have to reboot and all is good, sometimes 2 or 3 times, but it seems to happen everytime I turn on my PC.
Before I reinstall Windows for the um...millionth time, are there any experts able to help solve this mystery?

A:Blue Screen Error: NOT A DELL

when we make suggestions to contact dell its because a person usually tells us it is a dell or we can tell from the computer specs given that it is.the only time in my life i have seen a blue screen similar to that is when ive changed back to windows xp from vista before i was knowledgeable enough to realize i had to go into the BIOS and change the configuration from ACHI to either SATA,ATA,IDE, or compatability.if your computer came with windows xp then you dont have to make the change in the BIOS to run windows xp properly.if it didnt come with windows xp and you are trying to change it back to windows xp thats why you are getting that blue screen.if it isnt that then someone with more knowledge on this than i have will hopefully have more advice to give you.

I have a Dell Inspirion 531 that is two years old, running Windows Vista.
I believe I may have a virus or something that is keeping me from booting up.
The computer will boot up to to log-on screen and then it suddenly goes into a Blue Screen of Death.

The code on the Blue Screen is Stop - 0X000007E. I get the same message when I try to go into safe mode.

Can anyone tell me what the code means?

It also tells me about getting a "hot fix" - it's a form of Windows update - how can I do this if I cannot log on.

Someone please help me!!!!

Thanks so much,

Any experience out there with this blue screen? Just reinstalled XP with Dell disk on a Dementia 8250. Reinstall went fine accept for the ethernet driver. This seems to be a common problem with 8250 reinstalls. got blue screen after windows update.
Blue screen said problem with nv4_disp.
I got the blue screen only after performing all windows updates right after shut down and reboot. I was able to restore to an earlier moment in the reinstall and I seem to not be having any problem but I elected to "not" install the windows update provided Nvidiia GeForce 4mx420 update offered by Microsoft.
Any comments would be appreciated.

Is there any hope to recover data from this laptop? It is a Dell Latitude D620. I get a blue screen even if I try to reinstall Windows XP . Is this a dead hard drive?.....or, is this just something that can be fixed or classified as "software related"? Thanks for your help!

Help Please...

My Dell Desktop has a BSOD with a stop error that won't respond to a Chdsk /p or Chdsk /r....it just keeps returning the BSOD.

Am I screwed?

Is there any way I can repair this OS install without losing my data on the hard drive...

It's my wife's PC and she is going to KILL me when she gets home!

-b

A:BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH on Dell Desktop!

I have repaired and cleaned two Dell systems in the past three days. Both had XP home edition on it. One actually returned the blue screen of death twice on me due to memory issues, but...the error returned (once the error was sent to M$)stated that it was in fact a back door Trojan. The other one was a fake BSOD created by a malicious advertiser that wanted me to purchase their spyware removal program to basically...in essence, remove their installed virus.

Either way, my guess is that you have one of those two issues. There seems to be a major influx of this particular virus/Trojan download package either activating itself here lately, or just coming down the pipeline.

With the first computer, I found a .dll file by the name of: ati3d2a.dll (NOTE: the typical ATI driver is actually named: ati3d2.dll or ati3d2ag.dll) which could not be deleted no matter what I tried. It replicated itself only if AVG moved it into the vault and the registry value could NOT be delted nor permissions changed regardless of method. Safe Mode, CMD.....didn't matter.

I would also check to see if you have a replication file going on that names itself alpha or numerical as well. The second computer had a file that started out with the letter "b" and then progressed in increased increments such as: b100.exe b101.exe, b102exe and so on and so forth.

It was tied to a BHO (browser help object) and even though the value was deleted and removed, another program would continue churning these files out. They were obsolete of course and harmless, but it still makes me curious as to not only where this "replicator" resides, but how to get rid of it.

You might want to take a look at your: c:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ section, and see if there are any files that are out of the ordinary after running hijackthis on your infected system.

I just got a brand new Dell labtop. But whenever I'm installing something, or loading a game, a blue screen error pops up and I have to restart. The first part of the error message is a punch of numbers on the top like 00000x or something like that, what do I do?

Dimension 5150 PC Running WinXP

OK, I'm trumped.

Turn it on. Says Windows could not load and to protect the machine, it has stopped the boot sequence. Standard options; boot t safe mode, from ROM, to Partition, etc. Every single option gives me the blue screen.

So i thought it was the HD. Ran all the DELL diagnostics utilities and it passed all tests.

Tried to boot from CDROM to see if I could do a soft reinstall. No dice. Tested the CDROM in another machine and it works fine.

Went through setup and made sure the bot sequence was correct and also checked over the RAM, CPU, etc. Checked over the BIOS. All is good.

What else can I do? I can't seem to be able to pinpoint the problem. According to all the tests I've run using the Dell utility software, nothing is wrong with the hardware or firmware. Yet, still won't boot.

Totally baffled. Any ideas?

A:Dell 5150 PC Blue Screen with a twist

It might have passed the Dell test, but download the ISO image for Memtest in my signature. Burn the image to CD using IMGBurn also in my signature. Boot off of the newly created CD and run the tests. If you get any errors (Red), there is one stick of RAM that is bad and needs to be replaced.
You can also remove the HDD and attach it internally to a desktop computer, via USB Adapter or put it in a USB Enclosure and test the HDD on another computer.

A:Blue screen of death on a Dell laptop

Hi hkopene019057

My name is Anrick ,I work for the Dell social media and community
You have mentioned that it usually occurs when you are playing a game, so I would suspect the problem to be related to your Video drivers or the video card itself
First thing you can try is updating the Video driver from our support site ( www.support.dell.com) selecting the correct model of the system.

In order to help you better with the issue I would like you to answer to these questions
1. When usually these blue screens occur?
2. Do u get an error code or error message if yes what is the code/message?

The Blue Screen of Death (also known as the BSOD) is a screen that Windows shows you when it shuts down your computer in order to prevent damage to it. It's also known as a STOP error or as a BugCheck Code. It is a hardware error by definition - but this doesn't mean that it's caused by faulty hardware. Viruses, corrupt drivers, and even poorly written programs can cause it.

How to Find BSOD (Blue Screen) Error Messages: follow this link
How To Find Bsod Error Messages

3. What happens after the blue screen, do you have to restart the system, it restarts itself or it comes back up normally?

So i have a dell inspiron 531s with windows vista and when ever I try to boot it it takes me to a screen were it says windows repair, and start windows normally. when ever i select one it gives the error message PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON-PAGED_AREA 0x00000050 (0x87b80000, 0x00000000, 0x80c83843, 0x00000000)

And i have tried safe mode but what that does is flashes the blue screen for about 2 seconds or so and then restarts right after every single time. so then i tried using one stick of ram and that didn't work. so now i'm thinking about getting a new set of ram to see if it will boot. if it's not the ram then plzzz help me find a solution to my problem.

My Dell computer was working pretty well for a while, then while on youtube I kept getting messages saying I was getting viruses, so I tried removing them. Eventually they stopped, but my computer went to the blue screen.

Now I'm getting the usual message to check everything, like disk space and bis updates. The Technical Information I'm getting at the bottom of the message is

*** STOP: 0x0000007E (0xc0000005,0x89f42bf9,0xa7ff7ab4,0xa7ff77b0)

Hi.
I am brand new here. I have found this delightful forum to be the only one that is intelligently able to assess one's minidump files. Here are mine. This is from a laptop running winxp pro. i have performed all the procedures outlined in the "before you post minidumps" notice, and I still have nothing. Please let me know if I posted my minidumps incorrectly. Thanks to anyone who can help. The laptop blue-screens after a few minutes of being fully logged in and running. The blue screens states: Page fault in non-paged area at which point a minidump file is created and the machine reboots. Thanks for any help!

A:Dell Laptop Blue Screen w/Minidump

what kind of dell is it inspiron or lat system??? have you tried running the 32bit dell diagnostics from the boot menu??? to access just post the system and at the dell logo screen hit the F12 key then chose the option that says boot to utility partition and run the express test then the extended test if nothing shows up. also remember that if you don't have a cdrom such as a windows disk in the drive then you will get an error for the cdrom when it tests it so just continue on past that and do the rest of the test.. do that then work on the minidumps...so you can get possible hardware out of the wat first.then you can be pretty sure it is software realted such as driver or new software install done recently

Hi everyone, I'm new here, don't know much about computers, and I need help today. My 1 year old Dell Inspiron 518 came with Vista Home PremiumX64, and the warranty expired a week ago. They won't talk to me without charge.

I have a blue screen. One error was a Stop 0x00000050, Fatal System Error c0000221 - Unknown Hard Error\SystemRoot\System32\ntdll.dll. Another blue screen error read, 0xc004D301 Security Processor reported the trusted data store was tampered.

I was able to go under the Boot Menu and run a diagnostic. It said Error Code 2000-0123 (Memory Integrity Test Failed).

I haven't been able to get Windows to load at all, nothing I try is working, and I don't want to spend money for servicemen to come in. Anything I can do that's not too involved?

Thanks very much for any advice or info!

A:Blue Screen on Dell 518 Inspiron with Vistax64

Hi,

It is very unfortunate that your warranty expired a week ago. Have you tried Safe Mode? If you can access it, can you please navigate to C:\Windows\Minidump, zip up the contents of that folder and upload it to your next post. Then we can analyse it properly for you.

All your Stop codes are different and point to different problems, but can you re-run Memory Test, and give us the full results including Address. Unfortunately, it sounds like one of your sticks of RAM has broken.

Have you installed any modifications to Windows. If you can access Safe Mode, I would strongly advise running your anti-virus scanner and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware: Malwarebytes.org

Sorry,

Richard

To any and all that may be able to help or suggest a fix for my problem.

Today, 2/25/2013 my computer started up and went almost directly to this problem....

*** STOP 0x00000024 (0x00190203,0x8A7BC268,0xC0000102,0x00000000)

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this sis the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation or backup utilities. Check your hard drive configuration, and check for any updated drivers. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, then restart your computer.

Needless to say the computer will not allow me to do said task no matter what state I attempt to boot up the system.

Anyone, please help or suggest if possible...
I will continue to work to fix this issue whilst waiting for any and all responses!

Sincerely, Christopher.

Microsoft has a tool that can analyze blue screen error files left in the minidump folder... C: > WINDOWS > MiniDump >

http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/devtoo...nstallx86.mspx
Usually a corrupted driver. Running chkdsk /r from the command prompt might fix it. Hit F8 to access advanced options menu then select command prompt, and type chkdsk /r and hit enter.

Today, I was (trying) to upload files on a Micro SD card. I went to "My Computer" and clicked the storage device. It stopped responding, so I ended the program. All the icons disappeared, so I shut down the laptop. When I booted it back up, it did the little windows thing with the logo and blue bars. It then asked me "Start Windows Normally, Last Known Settings, Safe Mode with Command Prompt, Safe Mode with Networking, and Safe Mode." I selected "Safe Mode" and it flashed a Blue Screen error and went back to the Windows logo with blue bars scrolling. I then tried selecting all the other options. It still would flash the blue screen error. I need help!

If it won't boot into Safe Mode, some of the XP core files are corrupt or there is a hardware issue. Try booting from your XP CD and perform a repair.

A:Solved: Dell inspiron blue screen of death !

You have to establish your hardware state...

Try starting into BIOS, the first screen will usually tell you what HD's you have ready.

If you see no drives, very little can be done... However, throw up the model number.. If it was left upgradeable, you may have a chance.

The truth is, you probably got 'suckered.

Hopeing for the best,

Twice in the past few months I've gotten the Blue Screen of Death when turning on my 2yr old Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop. Config List Failed, Code was STOP: 0x00000073 (0x00000001, 0xC000017D, 0x00000004, 0xF6BB9BB8). Both times I was able to boot up by pressing the Dell MediaDirect button next to the power button - and everything seemed fine. A couple of months since it last happened now I get the blue screen again. Pressing that other button doesn't help - I still get the blue screen. I've done the F8 thing and tried starting in Safe Mode. When it asks to select an OS, the only choice is Windows XP Embedded, but my laptop has Vista. I tried Startup Repair but it said it could not repair. System Restore failed due to unspecified error. And now I get the Blue Screen in Safe Mode with STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF794C524, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

Hi this is my first post so please excuse me if I don't get the protocol correct. I am trying to help my son, who is a university student, with a problem he has with his laptop. It is a Dell Vostro 1500 running Windows Vista Business Edition (32 bit). He runs McAfee Internet Security 2008 which is up to date. Since last week he has been experiencing frequent blue screens which are now occurring when he logs in to Windows. Basically his laptop will only run in safe mode. When looking at the event viewer we see lots of entries for 'DCOM 10005 error 1084 attempting to start the service McNASvc with arguments'.

I was hoping someone could help by advising if this error is likely to be the cause of the blue screens and if so what the likely underlying cause and solution might be. Is it likely to be a malware problem?

Kind Regards John

A:Blue screen on Dell Vostro running Vista 32 Bit

attempting to start the service McNASvc with arguments'.Can he stay logged in long enough to prep for a HJT log? At least step 6-------------------------------------Please read the pinned topic titled "Preparation Guide For Use Before Posting A Hijackthis Log". If you cannot complete a step, then skip it and continue with the next. In Step 6 there are instructions for downloading and running DDS which will create a Pseudo HJT Report as part of its log. When you have done that, post your log in the HijackThis Logs and Malware Removal forum, NOT here, for assistance by the HJT Team Experts. A member of the Team will walk you through, step by step, on how to clean your computer. If you post your log back in this thread, the response from the HJT Team will be delayed because your post will have to be moved. This means it will fall in line behind any others posted that same day. Start a new topic, give it a relevant title and post your log along with a brief description of your problem, a summary of any anti-malware tools you have used and a summary of any steps that you have performed on your own. An expert will analyze your log and reply with instructions advising you what to fix. After doing this, we would appreciate if you post a link to your log back here so we know that your getting help from the HJT Team. Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response because the HJT Team members are very busy working logs posted before yours. They are volunteers who will help you out as soon as possible. Once you have made your post and are waiting, please DO NOT "bump" your post or make another reply until it has been responded to by a member of the HJT Team. Generally the staff checks the forum for postings that have 0 replies as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response there will be 1 reply. A team member, looking for a new log to work may assume another HJT Team member is already assisting you and not open the thread to respond.

Hi All, I am really in need of some help if possible.

I recently bought a new Dell XPS 16 laptop but seem to be incurring a daily crash or blue screen of death incident which can not be good for me or the laptop!

The blue screen error seems to be something about something called BUGCODE?

I followed some forums who said remove AVG but this didnt work?

Also the laptop just locks up all of a sudden or goes to a black screen and crashed?

Can not get the Task Manager of and have to do a hard reset to get it back up again?

II downloaded the SF Diagnostic Tool and have attached the files, so hoping all the info is there but if you need anything else let me know?

Thanks for any help in advance!

Matthewc

So my XPS 410 recently started having this problem. After turning the computer on you immediately notice specks of blue and pink dots all over the screen. After having the computer on for about 5 minutes the screen starts blinking on and off. I thought it might be the monitor itself and went and bought a new one today but that didn't help one bit. Could it be the video card? I really don't know what to do and am hoping someone else may know so I don't have to go out and buy a whole new computer!!

I'd appreciate any help you could give me. Thanks!
