All programs "open" in internet explorer - what virus is this? Vista User

Q: All programs "open" in internet explorer - what virus is this? Vista User

Hello

I am desperately seeking the help of anyone who can help me. While using my computer last week (it's been off for a week now as I was on vacation) almost all the icons on my desktop turned into internet explorer links, and all the programs on my computer (including my Norton Antivirus) will not open as they all are being "opened" with internet explorer. Whenever a program is opened the message that internet explorer is no longer working pops up. This includes Microsoft Word, iTunes, some parts of my control panel etc. My computer's operating system is Vista.
I am assuming this is a virus, but I have no idea what to do about it. Can anyone out there help me?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I am posting this for a friend so he at least can get past the first hurdle. He is unable to start any programs or connect to the internet. Whenever he clicks on something he gets a popup that says "Click here to run scan" ... which he says must be a virus. He started in safe mode and ran Super Antispyware, but it didn't help.

A:Virus? Can't open programs or internet, popup says "Click on here to run scan"

Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM

After that last error message he can't even start his computer. If he purchased Windows 7 and tried to install that would it clean out the old windows and fix everything automatically? Or, does whatever is in there have to be fixed first, before he can install it. He got the system from someone awhile ago so he doesn't have the installation discs, he is going to check with him. I just thought it might be easier to install the new windows instead, and it might be cheaper overall then taking it to geek squad or whatever they're called. Not sure what to do in this situation, never had it that bad with any of my problems.

I have searched to see if this was asked before without any success. Maybe someone has run into this problem before.
When I open "my computer" or "control panel" after I close it...it automatically goes into Internet Explorer as a blank page. Most of the time, when I close the IE blank page...it stops responding and I have the control-alt-delete to "end the program"
Thanks in advance for any help.

Possibly malware - anything openning ie on its own raises an alarm in my books. Post a HJT log to the malware removal section of the forum and let the experts take a look at it

Ok, what in the world is going on with this? First off, I'm at THIS webpage because I had two IE windows open already. Not too long ago I attempted to open up a third, and I can't do it.

Every time I try to do so I get the error message that I put in this threads title. What can I do to resolve this?

A:"Internet Explorer could not open the search page." (I can't open any new IE windows!

I just found out another detail for you.

In the IE windows that are already open, when I click on a link that opens a new window on it's on...it works.

The only problem is when I try to manually open a new one myself. So, right now, I'm rather afraid to close all of the IE windows currently open and to restart my computer.

I just bought an HP S5120F with an AMD 7750 Processor. After initial startup I created a second "user" account. I have been unable to get an internet connection on this account. The first "user" account works fine.
I get [I]windows can not connect to "MYPLACE"[I]. I click DIAGNOSE and get This computer was disconnected from "MYPLACE" because of user action.

Anybody come across this before?

This can not be malware related or virus related. It came straight out of the box this way.

A:Unable to access internet on second "user" created in Vista

Please create a 3rd user account and test it. DO NOT install anything on the account - just test the internet connectivity and then remove the new account.

If the new account connects, then it's most likely something that you've installed in the second user account.

I've recently installed a USB wireless adapter on my computer, however the internet is not working proberly on it:

the only time the internet will work is if I open Windows Internet Explorer, or MSN Messanger.

If I type an address in the address window of a windows folder I get the message "Internet Explorer could not open the search page".
All the other programs that I've used to try to access the internet with just don't detect the connection.

My roomates are connected to the same router, and there connection is working fine.

I've also disabled windows firewall, so there is no firewall running on my computer.

I've tried changing many settings in Windows to fix this problem, but nothing seems to work.

Do you have a recovery restore install disc or partition?
You can try doing a repair or system file check...
Scan For Missing/Corrupt System Files...

Windows XP comes with a wonderful tool called System File Checker (SFC)
Itscans and verifies the versions of all protected system files after you restart your computer...
To Do This:
Click Start menu, and then click the Run icon.
In the small box that Opens, type the three letters: cmd then click the OK button.
In the command prompt window that just opened (a black background and white text), type the following command:
SFC /scannow
And then click OK
You must be logged on as a member of the Administrators group to run SFC..
You will need your Windows XP CD during this procedure if SFC needs to get an original file. Please remember that Windows XP can have multiple instances of a .DLL file and remember which version is for which program.
Notes....
I have been asked if it is possible to have a "progress meter" show when SFC runs... This is the registry hack you need. PLEASE do not go messing with your registry if you do NOT know what you are doing!

In Windows XP, fully updated, I have several folders full of mp3's and want to see the bit rate and duration. I right click on a column heading and select "Bit rate". I then click on "More..." so I can get to "Duration", and I select that one too.

But all the figures in the "Duration" column appear to be in "hours" and "minutes", so I see "00:04" or "00:03", but what I want is "minutes" and "seconds".

Any thoughts as to how to change this?

A:XP "My Computer" and "Explorer" taking ages to open

assuming you ran spyware and adaware cleanups, i would suggest reinstalling windows..... Windows (every version) will eventually slow down and not respond, act very unstable, not cooperate, and eventually it will commit suicide and give you major blue screens. then the computer has problems booting... a reinstall (a fresh reinstall preferebly) would probably fix it.....

could you post your system specs? that may help a little bit...

Hi,

When our website users click on an html attachment embedded on a web-page in IE9, the download manager will not display the "Open" option. It will only display "Save" and "Cancel" which our users don't like, having to save the
html document in a folder to open it. Whereas, when downloading attachments like pdf, word etc. all three options are displayed.

Is there any setting to tweak , which will display all the 3 options for HTML attachments as well?

A:IE9 download manager will not display "Open" option (only "Save" and "Cancel" is displayed) for downloading HTML documents.

Hi,
As you know, the Open-Save-Cancel dialog box helps you prevent your computer from affecting by virus while downloading.
So I suggest you test to reset all zones to a lower level temporarily and then please attempt to download this html attachment again.

However, since you can normally download the other documents, I suspect there is some restriction in the website which you are trying to view. I recommend you to contact the administrator of that website if possible.
could you please send me the link of the website from where you are trying to download the html attachment?
Thanks!

I double-click and get "search" instead of "open"--only when I click a disk, like Hard Drive C: or Floppy A: or CD F: and so on.

It didn't used to do this, so I must've inadvertently changed some setting somewhere, but darned if I can find it now.

Any ideas?

Hopefully I'm posting in the correct forum section and that this isn't a topic that has been discussed frequently as I've done extensive searches and browsing before deciding to post So here's the problem annoyance I'm encountering and I'm wondering if there's some sort of solution out there I have Vista Home Basic and IE I can download files quite fine but the problem is that when I try to open the file either from the dialogue window that shows up after the download OR when the file opens automatically after a download a new dialogue window shows up that says quot Verify quot apparently while the system verifies the file for who knows what Now that window showing doesn't really bother me that much even though it does bother me the real problem arises when you download multiple files at the same time and open those files because once the system tries to verify all those files at the same time it ends up + File "Verify" Vista-IE7: "Open" crashing the browser So what I'm mainly looking for is a setting that would disable this file verification by Vista IE I have a fairly good computer with GB of RAM Dual Core processor so I Vista-IE7: "Open" File + "Verify" really really doubt this is a performance issue Thanks Can provide screenshots if needed

May I know is it possible to show domain user's "Display Name" instead of "User Logon Name" as owner in print queue? Our company's domain using generic "User Logon Name", i.e. 001, 002, 003 and so on, each "User Logon Name" will have personalized "Display Name", e.g. Mary, John etc., but a problem is when a print job printed by a user is hold in the print queue of a network printer, other users won't know who is it (the owner of the print job may shown as 001, 002 etc.) and so not able to ask that user to remove the print job. Any ideas? Thanks a lot!

"Launch Browser Windows in a Separate Process" Setting Is Not Available in Internet Explorer 5.01 or Internet Explorer 5.5

You can go into Services and check:
Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)
Network Connections

Windows Management Instrumentation

R-click on each one, then Properties, then the Dependencies Tab.
You would have to cross check each one that is listed.

For instance, if playing solitaire, the icon for the open program down on the task bar will start "sliding in" over top of itself again, as if it is just being reopened. I am sorry I really don't know how else to explain it. But when it happens it goes very quick sometimes with rapid successions of the occurrence and it makes it difficult to use the program. When these flashes of "opening" occur, I cannot do anything and the program may freeze. For instance, Firefox just "opened" over top of itself and it paused my typing and I had to reclick in the box to type again. It does not open a new window or tab, but it is like the same window or program is trying to reopen itself. Any suggestions?

A:Unsure how to best describe issue... Open programs try to "re-open"

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

I'm just wondering if it's connected to Aero and jump lists on your task bar.

You could try disabling Aero to see if that stops these events occurring. At least we would then know where to start looking.

I'm having a bit of a problem. As far as I know, my comouter is completely free of viruses and spyware. For about a month and half now, I've been receiving the error message "Windows cannot open user accounts control panel" every time I double-click on User Accounts in Control Panel. I've been to many sites and I'm still stumped. I think the problem lies in the file nusmrgr.cpl being damaged or defective. If anybody can't offer me some advice or point me in the direction of a download or a recommended piece of software, I would really appreciate it.

P.S.

My computer is (obviously) Windows XP and I've already tried System Restore and Roxio GoBack.

I need help!!!!

I'm trying to use the File History feature in Windows 8.1 to create backups.  When I click "File History" from the control panel, nothing happens.  No new window opens, it just stays at the Control Page.

I've tried manually going to "Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\File History".

All works fine with local Administrative user profile.

Why does File History not start/open/run for the domain user account that is in the Administrators Group?

A:"File History" won't open/start for domain user profile/account

Hi,
Base on my lab machine (Windows Server 2008 R2 DC, Windows 8.1 client). either domain admin user or domain standard user, they all work fine.
What's your environment? Did this issue occur on all domain user or specific one?
In some cases, File History may conflict with the enterprise policies (like retention policy). I suggest you contact your IT admin to see if there is some other policy to limit this.

Ok, so basically, whenever I turn the computer on, 3 error messages appear:

- A virtual driver failed to inicialize DLL. Chose close to end the program. H:/Windows/system32/code/pRee.exe

- A virtual driver failed to inicialize DLL. Chose close to end the program. H:/Windows/system32/code/pRee1.exe

- Error loading H:/Archiv~/GBPLUG~/gbiehcef.dll. Couldn't find specific module.

(sorry if some terms are incorrect, my computer is in Spanish, to I tried to translate as best as possible)

Please help me solve this terrible problem, it is really getting me on my nerves! (oh, and if this helps, I've recently donwloaded this so called "Limewire acceleration", and whenever I ran the setup, it didn't work. I don't really remember the name of the website I downloaded it from, sorry...)

A:I cannot open "my computer" "control panel" "recycle bin", etc...

You may want to reinstall the operating system.

Backupthe files that are importantto you before you reinstall.

The "New" installation will overwrite the current one

If you do not format your hard drive before the reinstall the installation should not harm your files (That's why I suggest backingup your files) and will speed up the installation process.

Just a few days ago I noticed a strange problem I was downloading a program with Firefox latest version and the download dialogue froze up when I opted to save the file I thought Firefox was being buggy so I closed it and reopened but the problem persisted My next step was to reboot No luck I ran a full virus scan with Norton and downloaded AdAware to see if spyware could be causing a problem I was clean I later found dialogue opened. Programs File" "Open/Save when is freeze that if I just wait a really long time the dialogue box to choose the file s location eventually comes up After this the problem seems to be gone until I reboot In other words once I wait forever for the box to Programs freeze when "Open/Save File" dialogue is opened. pop up the next time I download something it pops up instantly like Programs freeze when "Open/Save File" dialogue is opened. it should I unfortunately noticed that this problem wasn t unique to firefox I clicked to add a file to my Winamp playlist and the same thing happened Winamp froze and a few minutes later the Open File box popped up and everything was fine It also happened with AIM when I tried to send a file to a friend This problem was very annoying to google because the combination of words describing the problem comes up with irrelavent hits I m very computer literate but this problem confounds me I d appreciate any help or insight Hijack This log available upon request EDIT I m running WINXP SP fully updated to my knowledge and my computer specs are listed nbsp

I'm getting this error message on 90% of programs I try to open. But if I keep trying it will eventually open. It doesn't happen on chrome/firefox, thankfully.

Another problem that I believe is connected to it is that I can't open a browse window. On photobucket for example I'll click "browse" and it won't open. But if I restart the browser a few times it will eventually work, just like the problem above. I had some sort of worm on my computer earlier this month. I removed it and since then ran multiple more scans (malware anti-bytes) and nothing new comes up.

Any help will be appreciated. I know this will be hard to diagnosis, but maybe the problem with the browse window might help narrow it down? It's the first time I've ever heard of that problem occurring.

Thanks.

A:"encountered a problem and needs to close" error messages, Can't open programs

Please avoid using IE as it only works if you purchase it and that too if its under warranty, else it might throw some or the other errors. Instead, you can try Google Chrome which never give you this sort of problem.

Hey oh,

For some reason my desktop icons do not work when i click on them. When i double click or right click and hit open, a window pops up that has "Open with" options but none of them work. I noticed a couple other forum posts similar but none of the attachments or links in those posts are still active.

Please help. I am right pickled.

Whenever I click on "Add or remove user accounts" in Control Panel, a blank Windows Explorer window pops up and then disappears about 2-3 seconds later. And then nothing else happens.

Just yesterday, my computer would not load my profile settings for my main account. I tried to fix that problem by copying that account's files into another account and deleting the faulty one. Now this new issue has occurred. Is there any way to figure out what's wrong and fix it?

Running Vista Business 32bit.

A:Can't open "add or remove user accounts"

Are you trying from an administrators account?
User Account - Delete
also
See if it can be done in safe mode

If none of the above work, try an SFC command to repair any corruption. Run 3 times if errors are found
System Files - SFC Command

Just as the title says. All my files and programs open in free textpad. I was writing a program earlier today and absent mindedly cliked ok to open in free textpad without read the other points of the message. I am now sure that one of these other points sais something like "make free textpad default for all applications" or something. I have tried everything i can think of without any success with one exception. I was able to run itunes normally after selecting programs>itunes>run miniplayer. Im not sure why this is, as when i run itunes, it opens in free textpad. By the way, i run windows seven on an inspiron 530.
I really need some help, please,

Thank you for any response.

I am trying to add 3rd party programs to my list of programs to appear under the list of default programs to open files with when selecting the command "Open with...". However, when I browse for them and pick the appropriate executable, nothing happens and the program isn't added. Someone has been telling me that this can be fixed by going into the registry and fixing it from there, but I'm not entirely sure what to do. I'd really appreciate any help with this.

A:"Open with..." is not adding new programs to the list of defaults.

How are you trying to do this? "Open with" gives you the opportunity to browse for a program, and select what you have chosen as a default if you wish. But you have to choose it as a default.

A colleague of mine using the 64bit version of Windows 7 Enterprise has been having this problem for the past day or so. No matter what program he's using, as soon as he clicks print, the program stops responding. This even happens if you try to print a test page - Windows Explorer stops responding. It's not printer specific, since this happens before you have the option to select a printer (and he has several, one local printer and a few network printers). I've tried running the troubleshooting tool, but all that does is restart the print spooler, which doesn't stop the problem. Any ideas?

Suddenly, whenever I try to open Chrome or Firefox, I get the popup - "This operations has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator", and the program doesn't open.

I have tried various fixes found on the Internet, including:
- uninstalling and re-installing the programs
- doing virus and malware scans
- changing the shortcut targets, adding "-no-sandbox" to them
- setting IE as the default browser

None of them work.

Does anyone know how to resolve this issue? IE is a horrible browser to use compared to these 2 that don't work anymore.

Hi

Im not sure if this is in the correct area so apologies if it isn't. I've been having this problem for about 2 weeks now where a number of programs fail to open and just say "X" has stopped working. I have tried selecting "check online for a solution" but nothing happens.

I have searched online for any solutions and have tried to run sfc /scannow to check the system files, however this freezes at 87% and after a while says "could not perform requested operation. I will attach the log.txt file from the scan.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and any further questions I will answer

A:Some programs will not open. Just say "X" has stopped working

Hi and Welcome to the Forum
This problem may be caused by a faulty update so can you try a system restore to a date before it started to happen.
if that's no good it cauld be that you have a virus. Run Malwarebytes if the System restore doesn't work.

I'm having trouble adding programs that weren't installed (released as just the program exe) to the "open with" list. They show up in the "choose another app" window, but that takes extra clicks to get through, which add up since I do a lot of work with files that I open in different programs for different things.

A:How do I add programs that were never install to the "open with" list?

Me too. I can add 64-bit programs, but not 32-bit programs to the initial list that pops up when I select "Open with". I modified
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\OpenWithList
The program I want to add is an installed program, unlike the OP.

A:Windows Explorer crashing on "all" 3rd party programs

Please fill in your System Specs.

If this is the factory preinstalled Win7 then that is the worst install you can have anyway, so I'd do one perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 and then save a backup image so you never have to reinstall again, just reimage the HD in 20 minutes.

Otherwise work through the Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 starting with the Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware scans, then SFC since the files may not repair if infected. Normally the steps will turn up the problem and help optimize your system best.

Hi All,

Whenever someone in my family walks away from using the computer with Windows Vista, after the Screen Saver, I'm always taken to a screen that allows only the last user to log back in, but when someone else wants to log in, they need to hit the "Switch User" button to choose a different name.

My question is... Can I have the computer just go back to showing all the users' names (so I don't have to click the "Switch User" button to login as me). I would like this to work, just as XP did... so if the last person who used the computer has to log back in, s/he would just have to click their name again...just like XP did.

Thanks so much!

I was trying to respond to an old post about this error - it was an unsolved post - but was over the time limit. I have been encountering "Error 1402 - Vista Setup can not open registry key..... xxxyyyyzz"

I was attempting to install Microsoft Office 2007 when I received this error. I was able to fix it using Microsoft's "Fix It" wizard. I have posted a link here..

How do I restore security settings to the default settings? This restores your registry to default security settings, and in my case, it clearly fixed my error 1402.

Hope this helps.

On my Win10 x64 home computer, I find that a I can't always start Internet Explorer (ver 11). I'll click on the icon, the "working" symbol spins for a second and nothing happens.

Then I open Task Manager, and I find about 10 or 12 instances of Internet Explorer and Internet Explorer (32) running/open. If I then "End task" for each one. I can then get Internet Explorer working again.

For some reason IE is not closing fully when I end the session. It appears that I can continue opening/using IE until I get about 10 or 12 instances running then I can't open or use IE again until I close of all the open IE processes in task manger.

Has anyone else seen this? Any idea what might be causing it?

I would like to have windows explorer open with all drives showing and with c:\Program Files fully expanded (as if the + next to Program Files were clicked) in the left pane.

I am currently using the target, "%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /n, /e, C:\Program Files\Agent" which expands Program Files only to the extent that Agent is highlighted and expanded. How can I get it to open with all program files visible in the left pane? I must need another switch but don't know what it is or where to put it in the sequence.

A:Open windows explorer with "Program Files" fully expanded?

Try /ROOT or /SELECT

Syntax:

Option Function
---------------------------------------------------------------------- /n Opens a new single-pane window for the default
selection. This is usually the root of the drive that Windows is installed on. If the window is already open, a duplicate opens.

/e Opens Windows Explorer in its default view.

/root,<object> Opens a window view of the specified object.

/select,<object> Opens a window view with the specified folder, file,
or program selected.

Examples
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Example 1: Explorer /select,C:\TestDir\TestProg.exe
Opens a window view with TestProg selected.

Example 2: Explorer /e,/root,C:\TestDir\TestProg.exe
Opens Explorer with drive C expanded and TestProg selected.

Example 3: Explorer /root,\\TestSvr\TestShare
Opens a window view of the specified share.

Example 4: Explorer /root,\\TestSvr\TestShare,select,TestProg.exe
Opens a window view of the specified share with TestProg selected.

Well, no gurus? Maybe can add a portable app to "open with" context (dunno), but you can add it to the "Send To" context, then use that when R click files in explorer.

Copy or drag icon you want to the user's Send To folder under the user's acct. It'll be there when you want to send select files to the app.

I've just recently encountered a baffling problem: I browse to some folders in Explorer, and the files I expect to see are all there. However, every app I've tried to open or otherwise load these files reports "File not found"!
Opening a cmd window and performing a Dir command also shows all the files.
I found a couple of apps that promise to reveal extended info about specified files, but when I navigate to these files and select one to process, both of these tools also report "File not found".
I've run chkdsk and other utils on the drive holding these files several times, and each time it reports no errors found.
I'm running 64-bit Windows 7 Pro SP1 with the latest updates.
WTF? Can anyone help me resolve this weird issue, please?

Hi Ridakash, Welcome to SF,

You could try this ShellExView

The rule is to disable non-Microsoft context menu handlers *one-by-one* and verify if the problem is solved. If disabling one does not solve the problem, undo the disabled item and disable the next non-Microsoft handler. Do the same until the problem is solved and finally identify the culprit. Scroll right to see the Company Name column in ShellExView.

If that didn't help

Download this attachment Attachment 50723 Save it under C:\Windows\System32\

Go To Start > Type Regedit and do a search for CompMgmtLauncher.exe

Mine was located here.
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}\shell\Manage\command]

Under this key you will find a line that ends in CompMgmtLauncher.exe
Change the exe to bat and Manage should now work.

Hope this helps,
Captain

Where are the settings for that "Open Windows Explorer" option stored? Has anyone seen this problem?

A:Can't access "Network and Sharing Center" nor "User Accounts"

Hello Jayrrus, and welcome to Vista Forums.

I would recommend that you use Microsoft Standalone System Sweeper to scan your system with at boot to help make sure that your system is malware free first.

Afterwards, you might see if you may be able to do a system restore at boot using a restore point dated before you had these issues to see if that may be able to fix them.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

I am going 'round & 'round with this issue. I log on as limited user account for security. However, when I am on that acct, I cannot copy files to the external HP drive - I have to switch over to the admin user account to do so. In order to use the limited account for this operation, I have read that you should disable simple file sharing, (on admin acct), then rt clik on the file u want to copy - this then opens a menu with security tab where you are supposed to be able to give full control to the limited acct for that file. My admin acct that brings up this menu has those boxes to check grayed out. Also, do you have to rt click and give full permission for any file that you want to copy? (once you have this all figured out) - Seems a bit cumbersome. Any ideas anyone?? Thanks.

Ok this is my third attempt after re-booting and re-booting This is my wife s Sony abt years old P WinXP HE k ram For a long time now it has been quot temperamental quot Among the latest is I can no longer quot switch user quot as normally Clicking Start log off switch user does absolutely nothing now it functions. "Switch Solved: no "Password"? longer User" merely reverts to the former screen Start log off log off does work however And the shortcut that I used to use the Win logo key L now goes to quot UNLOCK COMPUTER quot a pop-up message that tells me the pc is in use and locked and only I presumably as an administrator with the proper password can now unlock it Problem what the heck is the password We don t recall ever setting one Control Alt Delete does nothing here Once at this screen my only recourse is to reboot quot Cancel quot is greyed out I think though that a few days ago it wasn t and I could cancel Is that my faulty memory or is this thing getting worse A side note I did recently download and Solved: "Switch User" no longer functions. I'd like to assign a few select "domain users" to be local admin over their test machines which log into a domain. The test machines are Windows 7 64bit and the domain is Win2k8 R2. I have been searching around for the best way to do it but I've come up short on my search.

Anyone know off the top of their head?

Thanks

A:Assigning "domain user" to "local admin" on select PCs

Create a new group in AD, for example, TestUsers
Add the required users to the group
Go round each machine and add the group as a member of local admins.

The control panel opens fine. I can access all items in the control panel
except "Network and sharing center" and the "User accounts" (I can't access this sections via the taskbar either).

What happens when I open one of the two items is I get a popup saying the
following; WINDOWS EXPLORER HAS STOPPED WORKING.

I used to be able to access these items. And one day, I just coulodn't anymore...

Anyone knows how to solve this? Thanks.

I'm using Vista Ultimate x64

A:Can't access "Network and Sharing Center" nor "User Accounts"

Hello Newbie,

See if running a sfc /scannow can find and fix bad system files that may be responsible for this.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

A:Can't delete .dll files "open in windows explorer"

You could try de-registering the dlls.

regsvr32 -u <path>\<filename>.dll

This problem just started a couple days ago, with no changes to any of my PCs settings or new downloads in a couple weeks.

When I have a Windows Explorer window open in the background, hitting the "t" key in Firefox (and IE for that matter) switches to the Explorer window automatically. I can get around it by shift+t, giving me a capital T and keeping me in my browser window. Alternatively, I can turn caps lock and shift+T to get a lowercase t and remain in the browser.

While in a Windows Explorer window, if I try to rename a file using the letter t, nothing will happen when I hit the key unless I use one of the workarounds above.

Any idea on what could be causing this and/or how to resolve the problem?

Thanks,
Chad

Here is the error that appears.

AppName: explorer.exe AppVer: 6.0.2900.5512 ModName: ad2mpegin.dll
ModVer: 1.4.0.21595 Offset: 00017618

I have run SFC /scannow and it finished. I am not sure if there was a log created or not, nor do I know if it was a help or if it replaced any corrupted or manipulated files.

Thank you for you help in this matter.

The option "Open with explorer" from SharePoint 2013 Foundation document library doesnt work in IE11.
Checked on IE11 32 bit and solutions like like enable/restart WebClient Service, Add to Trusted Sites, Set Internet Explorer to Automatic Logon, enable activex controls, enable protected mode, site compatibility etc, still it is not working.
Please help.
