I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi there,
Just bought a new computer with Windows 7 and Nvidia Quadro FX 580.
After startup I am getting BSOD with:
attempt to reset the display driver and recover from timeout failed

I tried every single avilable driver for this card - nothing helps.
I would very much appreciate any help here.
Thanks in advance.

I have no problem using "expended desk top" mode. All windows programs run correctly and can be placed and viewed on either screen.
However attempting to run and view simulatenously a DOS application on one screen and a Win application on the other will only display properly if the DOS application is viewed in the "minimized" mode.
If the DOS application is maximized (Alt+Enter), it seems that my "expended desk top" mode switches to "clone mode". Monitor 1 and 2 now show the same full size DOS screen and this is the problem I would like to resolve.

Is this a hardware/software limitation or am I overlooking something in the set-up to acheive what I am trying to achieve? Any help will be appreciated.

A:NVIDIA Quadro display limitation, DOS & Windows applications

I do believe it is a limitation of the software/hardware. You will have to use that DOS command in a windowed mode. I can't really tell if it's MS or nVidia to blame for that "problem" but you can always try to contact nVidia & tell them about it.

Greetings all. I recently sold my Nvidia Quadro FX4000 256MB AGP graphics card on Ebay to a guy in Germany (I am in UK). Used the standard Ebay description tool which displayed it as PNY NVidia Quadro FX4000 256mb AGP card.

My question is: are there 2 varients of this card ie Nvidia and PNY? The guy is stating that I have sent him an Nvidia Card as opposed to a PNY card and is requesting a refund.

I sold the card in good faith (using the Ebay description tool) thinking that there was only one varient and the picture I took is exactly like the PNY varient too so I thought I was selling one in the same?

I would appreciate your views guys. I think maybe this guy is trying it on?

Many thanks.

I have Precision T3500 that came with NVidia Quadro FX580 display adapter.
I had issues installing the latest NVidia driver for this card on Windows 7 (the screen would just go blank) but it was working fine with the three years old driver recommended by Dell, and now I am trying to upgrade to Windows 10 and it would automatically install the latest Windows 10 driver for this card that would freeze the system after reboot...
On Dell's support web site it says that Windows 10 is not supported on my system.
Any suggestions how to make Windows 10 work on Precision T3500 with NVidia Quadro FX580?

A:Precision T3500 with NVidia Quadro FX580 issues on Windows 7 and Windows 10 upgrade

The FX580 is a DX9  WDDM 1.0 card.
I have 2006 and 2005 E510's that have been upgraded with Pentium D 915 and 4 gigs of ram and they work Fine with windows 10 once you get at least a Geforce 610  or Radeon HD 5450 or better DX11 wddm 1.3 card.
The FX580 is an ancient vacccum tube card that is not suitable for AERO or Windows 7,8,10
It works with the original WDDM 1.0 Vista Drivers but it will not have WDDM 1.1 or 1.3 drivers.

I've read Quadro's are stable and highly recommended for CAD, etc workstations (not for gaming) and gaming cards are obviously better for gaming. I am looking to setup two separate dual output video cards in a new machine. It will be used primarily for streaming real time financial info/web surfing (no CAD nor any 3D modeling) with a secondary use of gaming (not important for me to run top games at top resolutions-average is fine). Should I look at getting Quadros or game cards. I am leaning toward the game cards like Nvidia 8600GT, etc as they are lower price and seems like if they can run games fast/no problem-why wouldn't they easily be able to handle business applications? Quadros seem to cost more and can mainly only be used for business apps?

A:Nvidia Quadro vs Nvidia gaming cards

Quadros are for Digital Content Creation and CAD purposes mainly. For you, a pair of 8600GTs would be fine.

The new Quadro CX card has been designed to deliver 192 CUDA parallel processor cores, a total of 1.5GB of GDDR3 memory with 384-bit memory interface. The memory bandwidth is specified at 76.8GB/s and, as you might expect from such a monster of a card, it comes with some hefty power requirements for a maximum of 150W. The card itself is equipped with a dual-slot cooling system, and provides just one dual link DVI port. Additional specifications include support for NVIDIA's SLI and CUDA technologies, as well as for DirectX 10 and Shader Model 4.0.

I bought a PCI-Express graphics card off eBay because the seller said it was a PCI graphics card. Well, it was only $20 so shipping it back probably would not be worth it. I wanted to put this in my old desktop to make it a bit more useful, but it has AGP, and PCI, not PCI-Express.

I don't see how it could be at all useful to put into my new desktop, as this is a 128 MB graphics card... it does have dual DVI ports though.

If all you want to do is split the desktop in half with two different apps open and in view, windows will do that.
Right click the taskbar and select "Tile Windows Horizontally\Vertically", depending on your viewing preference.

I think this is a windows seven configuration problem as in a previous post where someone wanted to run 2 displays from 1 card in PCI-e and 1 from a pci slot. Yet would get an error 10 message pci bridge to pci bridge. Yet he could run this setup in XP. My first thought for you is to load the display driver that is showing the PnP display, as well as the drivers for the other 2 displays. but if the graphics chips are not compatible your going to have issues. onboard VGA chip verus Quadro chip displaying at different refresh rates and resolutions. Of course with the new ATI Hd 5870 you can run 3 displays from 1 card 2 dvi and 1 hdmi, all for around 380.00. Anyway at this time I don't think windows seven from all the articals I researched for the other thread is capabel of these kind of 3 display configurations. Sorry I know this is of no value to you but thought I'd throw in my 2 cents worth . (WDDM Pre-release) (does not show up with build 7264 x64 and latest 7600 x64)

Download this driver ->

When you extract it you will find a zip archive called:
Inside this archive extract the file called: nvlt.inf

Put it with the rest of the files you extracted from the .exe file.

The driver is not digitally signed, but you will at least get your videocard working

I've had occasional BSOD while playing games or running graphics intensive applications (SolidWorks, etc) with my previous AMD graphics card, so I thought I'd try an nVidia instead. I put a Quadro K2000 this morning and now my computer is crashing hourly. The culprit is reported as nvlddmkm.sys for what that's worth.

I believe I have all the latest Windows 8.1 updates and I tried two versions of the nVidia driver, the version "certified" for SolidWorks and now the latest one (340.84).

Any help would be appreciated!

A:NVIDIA Quadro K620 2GB Graphics Card

Were you using onboard before? If so, you need to enable discrete GPUs or disable on-board video in the BIOS of the computer. Then it should work. If not, check for any power plugs that have come undone and if that still doesn't work, the card is most likely dead.

Is there any way to disable the Quadro 4000m gpu without booting into safe mode? The option to disable it appears in the device manager only when I boot into safe mode. Since I have to disable/re-enable the gpu often, I would much prefer it if I could do it without having to reboot. The system is Elitebook 8760w running Windows 10 x64. I have tried a number of drivers both from HP and Nvidia sites. I have also tried installing only the graphics driver. The result remains the same. No option to disable the GPU in normal mode. Any suggestions? Thanks.

After fitting a Nvidia NVS 295 card into my new Advent computer (Foxconn mobo, i5, 8GB RAM) my DELL ULTRASHARP U2711 will not display at its maximum 2560 x1400 res. I can only get 1920. In fact 1920 is the highest selectable in the Nvidia control panel. I let the Nvidia installer set up everything without removing the onboard AVG driver first - I assume it did this automatically? I am using the DVI cable that came with the Dell. What am I doing wrong? I have used the latest Windows7 64bit driver download from Nvidia website.

A:Cant get full 2560 resolution from Nvidia Quadro NVS 295

States here to use 2560 x 1400 you need to use display port.
DisplayPort to DVI-D (Single Link)

industry standard cables can be used to
drive digital displays at resolutions up to
1920 x 1200 @ 60Hz
Your monitor has a display port connector. To utilise full resolution you need that.

This is my first time posting so sorry if this is in the wrong section I didn t see one for a rack workstation I ve given a description on my problems below nVidia Quadro Update Video 6000 BIOS for anyone who ll bother helping A few years back I got a refurbished Precision R with dual Quadro s I noticed the driver was outdated and updated it Unfortunately when I did so the driver would crash several times nVidia Quadro 6000 Video BIOS Update a day with no clear indication of why or when It was several months before we figured out what driver was previously on it and reinstalled that It s still running mostly stable However this driver downgrade caused an issue for me I m a gamer and apparently version does not run Frostbite-based games correctly For example Battlefield and Need for Speed The Run both have an invisible floor I d pretty much given up on looking for solutions a couple years ago but yesterday I decided to give it another shot I quickly found a thread on the old Dell TechCenter which you can view here where users had found a solution They had updated the VBIOS to what appears to be version F My current version is so it d make sense that if mine was updated I d be able to update the drivers without them crashing Problem is there are no links to the update on the web at least not that version The closest thing I ve found is on HP s website which you can view here but I get the feeling that s only for HP computers So story over I have two questions First does anyone know if the VBIOS update on HP s site would work on this rig being a Dell and second in the case that the HP drivers wouldn t work would anyone know where or how to get the Dell update

A:nVidia Quadro 6000 Video BIOS Update

No response after a week. To be expected; this is a rare issue, by the looks of it.

I've tried the HP update at this point, via cmd, which simply said "no adapters found that were compatible with this update." Won't do further tests with that, since I don't want to risk anything with the DOS method.
In the wake of the Dell community's help (that's sarcasm), I've been trying to contact people on the thread linked in my previous post - specifically, people who said they could send the update to those who asked for it - to see if they might still have it.

Hi Guys,

Im new here so sorry if this message is unclear.

I am working with a confocal miscroscope connected to a PC. Recently the very old graphics card on it blew and I have had a very hard time finding a replacement. I have ordered two direct replacements and each time they have sent a mis-labeled card. From this i gather its very difficult to obtain new nVIDIA Quadro 4 980xgl cards.

I was wondering if there is an alternative card i could use. I think im not bad with computers however my hardware knowledge is lacking. Unfortunatly the comptuer is currently in use (running a 5 hour experiment i do not wish to interup) so i cannot give you the computer hardware details. If this is required I can post later.

It is for a two monitor set up (currently running on only one). If you need any other details, please ask.

Many Thanks for your help

A:Replacement Video Card for nVIDIA Quadro 4 980xgl

Its hard to find AGP cards these days, especially Quadro cards, since all new cards are PCI-Express. What did they send you?

You may have to try eBay to find a replacement, you can still pick up the same card there:

I have a dell precision M3800 laptop with the quadro 1100M graphics card and the Sony XBR49X830C TV that I'm using as a monitor.  The TV supports 4K @ 60Hz 4:4:4 and I have verified it with another computer.  However, with my M3800 I am only able to get 30Hz, I am using a display adapter to HDMI 2.0 with a HDMI 2.0 cable and have verified that the cable/adapter work at 60 Hz (using another laptop).
The M3800 supports 4K @ 60Hz with it's built in display but I can' t get 60Hz on this external display, is this a limitation of the graphics card or a driver issue?  I have the latest  drivers of everything though,

I bought an HP Envy 860-121 Desktop in April 2016 , and it came with the Nvidia 970GTX gaming card.I told the store from which I bought it, before I ordered it, that I do  not play games, but make a living drawing in graphics.I want to put a different Nvidia card in the computer, because I am not achieving needed finishes with the 970GTX. I found out from Nvidia, that I must have a Quadro Card for graphics, not a gaming card. I purchased on line an Nvidia Quadro 2000. I installed it, but the computer will not start and I get 3 long beeps then 3 short beeps. I have contacted HP to ask what video cards work in my motherboard and they tell me to call Nvidia. Nvidia says to call HP. Does anyone know where you can go to match your Motherboard with Video cards?

I have a T61 (bought in Aug 2007) with Nvidia NVS Quadro 140M. I am consistently having display problems with the screen suddenly going green (?). On restart the BIOS itself shows a corrupted image (half screen blue, half red) and some random characters. This only happens if I use the PC over 15 mins. Once it gets a chance to cool down, it goes back to normal working condition. My warranty expired around one month ago and ever since I am seeing this problem. Can someone suggest what could be going wrong.Thanks.

if already the bios sreen is garbled and if a cool system resolves the problem, it seems you have
a faulty Nvida GPU, it´s a G64 Chip in your gfx card and Nvdia´s G64 cannot cope
with normal heat. This problem is known by Nvidia.
I would call Lenovo and tell them your problem.

hi all,
I updated my Precision M6700 laptop to the A16 BIOS and if l look in Device Manager, the K4000M Quadro card is not present, not under Display Adapters or any other heading and no unknown devices listed.
If l downgrade to the A15 BIOS, then the Quadro card re-appears in Device Manager.
Any other M6700 owners that have had this issue?

Hi everyone
I already have 3 computers, don't play games but do adobe premiere video editing, no special effects, simple timeine and cut and titles.
I will now start to move around to give some lectures and maybe with video projection, so I'm thinking a lot about connectivity and battery life.
I might do some video editing as well.... so firewire is important but I can get it with a pci card I think.
I've found that devoted video card is better, but expensive.
I've found a second hand Dell 620 with a NVIDIA Quadro NVS 110M for around $500
would it be better than a new Lenovo / Dell with a Laptop Intel GMA X4500 card ???
Anew lenovo/Dell with devoted video card is around $1000
Do I need more power for my use?
And I'm looking for a widescreen model also

What do you think?

What are the main differences between a Nvidia Quadro type card (like NVIDIA Quadro FX 370 Video Card - 256MB GDDR2-$109) and the various dual output gaming cards out there (for instance the XFX GeForce 8600 GT XXX Video Card 256MB DDR3-$89)? I am contemplating building a new system for stock trading. Nvidia Quadro are used in workstations I know of but gaming cards seem faster and cheaper for same price-I must be missing something? Can you split the outputs of the Nvidia Quadros (ie get 4monitors hooked up to one dual output card with 4 independent windows of streaming data 1each on each monitor?) Thanks in advance...

With reference to this thread:

I have a Quadro FX 3700M card on my workstation for various CAD programs.. I am searching for a way to perform a software or hardware modification so I can play games and run other programs requiring a GeForce card.
Is there any way to possibly run two non-similar graphics cards side by side, or task designated/sharing?
So I could actually run CAD software on the dedicated Quadro, while relying on an externally connected GeForce card for all other media, pics, music, games, etc?
Any other money saving solutions besides buying/building a desktop?
I?m on a 64bit Vista workstation (soon to be Windows 7 or Ubuntu w/ a Windows VirtualBox) 3GHz Intel Quad Core 2 with 4GB RAM from Xi Computers.

M6700 doesnot show anything on the screen.

After installation, Secure boot.

Tried reset by removing CMOS battery. no luck
Need Help.

A:Dell M6700 Nvidia Quadro K4000M No display After Secure Boot

So i managed to solve the problem.
There are issues with K4000m running in secure boot. You must not disable legacy boot rom.
If you have no display at all here is the painful solution:
Make sure you can open the notebook and put it back together again. (Use an anti-static band etc). remember the screw type and locations etc. refer to a manual or take it to a technician.
So, you will have top open up the whole laptop. remove the Graphics card, remove the screen connectors and connect the laptop to an external display via d-sub (VGA) port. You have a display now. Go to the BIOS and disable secure boot and enable Legacy boot ROM.
Put back the graphics card and everything is back in place.
Recommended BIOS: A15, Still dont use secure boot.
I think the K4000m did not have an EFI rom boot. So hence no display.
Hope it helps anyone having the same problem.

I searched the forums and the only posts involved the AMD card and I have an Nvidia card.  I couldn't find any information on the K4000M so I called tech support and they told me it was 2560x1600.  But then I found another forum where they said even the K1000M can do 4k.
I hooked up my 4k TV to the HDMI and used the Nvidia custom resolution to set up 3840x2160 at 30 hz and the display works.  The graphics look great, but the text is super fuzzy.  The TV supports 4K at 60Hz, but I'm not sure if the HDMI port on the back of my M6700 supports 60Hz.
Does the HDMI support 60Hz at 4k?  What about the display port?  Any idea why my text is super fuzzy while the graphics are razor sharp?

A:Precision M6700 Nvidia Quadro K4000M max resolution 4K monitor display port hdmi refresh rate

First, I'm going to refer you to this article from Nvidia discussing Ultra 4k Resolution.  The important statement is this:

The current HDMI 1.4 standard only has bandwidth for 4K at 30hz. HDMI 2.0 will add support for 4K at 60Hz. Details should become clearer in late 2013. There are a few TVs on sale today that support 4K @ 30Hz through HDMI.

Now, according to this review and article about the K4000m card specifications, it states that the card has HDMI 1.4 connections, which means it won't, theoretically, handle Ultra 4k resolution at the 60Hz bandwidth.
I also found this on documentation online about the Precision 6700.

The Precision™ M4700 & M6700 incorporates HDMI version 1.4. Features

So, unfortunately, it doesn't sound like that card will support the higher refresh rate needed.
As for Display port

DisplayPort cables are much simpler to define: There’s just one type! The current version, DisplayPort 1.2, delivers enough bandwidth to carry video resolutions of up to 3840 by 2160 pixels at a refresh rate of 60Hz

So Display Port would be a much better option for you, if available.
I hope this answers your questions.

Removed the Quadro and re-installed the geo-force card. Same results. Purged all the NVIDIA drivers which was difficult. with negative effect.

System now seems to run for an hour or two before the BSOD depending on Solidworks activity.

This had been an extremely stable system if a little slow for three years running that i've used it for design of large assemblies.

A:BSOD after attempted Quadro 4600 install, errors seem like Memory?

Hello Joealfadog, welcome to Seven Forums. I will try to help you on this. You have 2 Dump files, both dated today. Unfortunately, they gave me little information but did leave a few hints.

based on that there are a few thngs I would like you to do, the first being:
Please fill out your System Specs

Your System Specs will help us to help you, and doing it in this manner will make them available to all helpers in every post and keep us from hunting for them. We ask that you fill them out in as much detail as possible including Desktop or Laptop, Model number if it is an OEM computer and all components with the Manufacturer and Model number if possible, including the PSU and CPU cooling you use.

If you will go to your last post and click the 'System Specs' in the bottom left of the post, you will find a link to update your system specs. Please fill those out in as much detail as possible, making sure to click save at the bottom of the page. If you would like to know what we would like, you can click 'My System Specs' at the bottom left of this post to see mine. If you do not know what your components are, this will help you accomplish this task. System Info - See Your System Specs

Next, please run Disk Check on all drives. next, please find the manufacturer's diagnostic program for you hard drives and run the long and short tests on each mechanical drive. If I had your system specs, I may be able to help find the correct program.

Please make sure all of your important and recommended Windows Updates are installed. Also, please
open a elevated command prompt ( click start, type cmd in the search box, right click on the cmd entry and select run as administrator) in the black box that opens, copy/paste sfc /scannow. If you decide to type it, notice the space between the sfc and the /. It is a system file checker which will scan your system files and attempt to correct any missing or corrupt files. What we want are the results to say windows found no integrity violations. If it says files were found but could not be repaired, close the box, reboot and run it again, after opening the administrative command prompt. You may have to reboot and run it three times for it to repair all system files. If it can't repair them after 3 reboots, let us know.

Please let me know the results of those tests. If none of them show any fault, I would next probably recommend to run memtest86+. Please let me know before you run it.
Please Run Memtest86+

Please download from this site only in the middle of the page are the Download links, you can download the or the Auto USB Flash Drive

Extract the Zip file. If you chose the ISO image, burn it to a CD using Windows Disk Image Burner or any Image burner you may have. If you downloaded the Auto USB installer, extract it, insert your USB 2.0 Flash Drive and take note of the drive letter. Run the installer, select the Flash Drive Letter, check the format box and press next. It will install memtest86+ to a flash drive. You can use either V4.20 or V5.01. Boot from your selected media. If you use V5.01 it will tell you to press certain buttons at the start, please press no buttons. The test will begin on it's own and continue to run until you stop it. It needs to run for 8 complete passes or until you receive an error. If you receive an error, stop the test. Even 1 error is a fail. Each pass tests a different part of the ram and each of the 10 tests in each pass tests something different. It takes a minimum of 8 passes to completely test the ram, more passes are better. It is quite a long test and will take several hours depending on how much ram you have. Due to the time length it is best to run overnight. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Also, just so you know, if you post a new post in this thread, I will be notified. If you edit an older thre... Read more

Yes, it will still work fine. Just visit NVIDIA's site and download the correct x86 or x64 driver for your card, for Windows 7, and install it. If you need further help, there are lots of us here that will be able to guide you with whatever issues may come up.

I have already a ready usb disk on key with the windows ready for installing.

I have nvidia gtx 770 video card.
Now i have the latest drivers 350.12 but i want to make a new clean install of my windows 8 and the problem is that windows will install the latest drivers but i want it to install drivers version 347.88.

Can i force the windows in the installation options while installing to install the version 347.88 ? If not can i force windows not to install the video card drivers at all so i can install it later ?

And after installing 347.88 can i set somewhere in the windows that it will not try to install in the future the latest video drivers version and only will alert if there is a new version ?

A:How can i install windows 8 without the nvidia drivers ?

windows 8.1 setup media will not install the newest drivers - windows update will - once you get online..

during installation - do not connect to your router (internet) - thus preventing the driver download..

install your 347 driver - connect to the internet and install the updates (this will update all your drivers)
after all the updates are completed. going through device manager Roll back the video driver to 347

if that does not work un-install the 350 driver through device manager and it should roll back to 347

Actually you will have both driver versions on your PC but you will have to tell device manager to roll back to the older version..

you could also block automatic driver updates > control panel > system > advanced system properties > Hardware > device installation settings

I am wondering about the correct procedure to follow when updating an NVIDIA Video driver in a windows Vista PC. I have the driver ready to install. I already tried to do this, but didn't seem to work. I uninstalled the old driver through add/remove programs and then deleted it from device manager. The problem was when I rebooted I failed to realize that Vista updates the driver automatically. This prevents me from installing the video driver that I wanted to. In XP you can choose not to update and then install your own. Should I have installed the new driver before rebooting.

Do you really have to uninstall the old one first, or just update the current one. What's the step by step best way to do this. Thanks.

A:NVIDIA Driver Install in Windows Vista

Your are following best practices when installing the driver. I have found in my work as a computer tech that thier is no issue in upgrading the Windows driver with the Nvidia driver. So just go ahead and install it. If your updating a Nvidia driver you should remove it before installing a newer version of the Nvidia driver.

This happened relatively out of the blue:

i was trying to get drivers for my printer. After restart, screen went black. I restarted in safe mode with netwking to find out what to do. So I eventually found out my graphics card had no driver; it had a generic vga adapter. So I search for my graphics card to find it is an Nvidia GeForce fx 5200 and I get the drivers for it. I restart in normal mode: no success. restart in safe' with net' . starts and am notified that drivers have installed. Now on next restart in normal mode, application error ok. Then i get a message in the bottom right hand corner that says 'windows is not genuine build 7600'...
I have seen how to change it with/without cmd, but either requires normal mode.

So how do I re enter my product key?

A:After Nvidia driver install, get 'windows not genuine'

First, do a sfc /scannow to check the integrity of your system files... failing that, do a system repair with your installation DVD..Hope this helps..

So I have a VGN-SZ4MN/B...

I have downloaded and installed 179.48 drivers, copied the setup files from 196.34 into the 179.48 folder, and copied the .inf file into notepad, renamed to setup.inf and placed the modified .inf file from LaptopVideo2Go: Drivers as per other discussions, but to no avail...

Any other ideas here?

Hi guys,
Did search but did not see issue. After doing upgrade desktop icons would flicker and after some time the screen resolution would change. Then computer would stop responding and would only respond after forcing reboot. I contacted Microsoft and they had me do a clean boot which stopped the problems. I restarted non-Microsoft processes one at a time and the problem seems to be caused by NVIDIA Display Driver Service. As long as this is not running computer seems to be fine. Only question is this something that is needed to run? When on Vista Home Premium before upgrade to Windows 7 there was no problem with this running.
Thanks for any opinions,

A:NVIDIA Problems after Windows 7 Upgrade install

No, that is not necessary to run. If you like using NVIDIA control panel to adjust visual settings like to make it brighter, more vivid etc...than, yes you do need it.

It really shouldn't be causing any issues. Perhaps there is another reason why it is for you.

Are you running the latest driver from NVIDIA's site and also the latest chipset drivers from your motherboard manufacturer's site?

Install them if not.

I can look at the system for you if you'd like. Type system information into the start menu search box. Hit enter. On the screen that pops up, ctrl+s.

Rar or zip the saved file and attach to a post using the paperclip above where you type.

i tried d/ling the latest drivers but they failed at install as well. tried rebooting. tried using driver cleaner pro. tried cleaning the registry with ccleaner. still wont complete the install. so atm im stuck with onboard video. if someone knows what to do it would be nice because im out of ideas. thx

A:Nvidia GeForce 8400M GT not found after Windows 7 64bit install

The 8400M GT is currently being driven by the generic Microsoft driver.

Is this the driver you tried?

Here's the full text of the address to the driver minus the "http://" so that it's not automatically 'linked' and automatically truncated:

Hi all,
I am new to this forum..
To start, I had just bought an ASUS computer.. wanting to play games like borderlands 1, left for dead 2 etc. But, when I was very trilled waiting to start the games, both of them had blacked screen and forced shutdown my computer every time after the game has been launched!
I had done many researches in the net, changing the registry values in directx11, reinstalling the NVIDIA drivers (halfway black screen upon reinstalling), changing the compatibility to Windows 7, adding missing physxcudart_20 to the games...None of them works..T-T
Any help is greatly appreciated!

A:Unable to install Nvidia driver and also to play games on Windows 8.1

I'd recommend to do the following:

Perform a clean install of Windows

Re-install Nvidia drivers
Download CPU-Z and GPU-Z (or any CPU and GPU monitoring software)
Monitor both while attempting to play games - check for temperature spikes.
Doing the above will help you rule out a lot of potential issues that are causing your problems. The clean windows install will get rid of any OS related issues. You never want to touch the windows registry unless you really have to, especially if you're not very well versed in the way it works. It can cause way more harm than good. With that said, the system crashes were probably due to a bad driver instillation and was causing a BSOD - most modern systems are set to restart / shutdown when this happens. You'll never know it happened unless you changed the configuration to stop the automatic shutdown. It could also be temperature related, if your CPU or GPU overheats, it'll typically trigger a system crash as well and result in the same BSOD sequence.

Let me know how it goes after you've tried what I've mentioned.

Wanting a bit more on the graphics front I was told that a  PNY Nvidia Quadro K420 DP/DVI Pro Graphics Card VCQK420-2GB-PB  would work
Is that correct?
Best to all

A:Optiplex 990 SFF, Quadro K420, Windows 10

The Optiplex 990 SFF has one blue PCIe x16 slot for video card. The black PCIe slot is only x4. We only tested/validated the following low profile video cards on the 240w power supply =ATI Radeon HD6670ATI Radeon HD6450ATI Radeon HD6350ATI Radeon HD4550Nvidia GeForce GT330
This PNY Nvidia Quadro K420 low profile video card only uses 41w, but, does not list Windows 10? Perhaps the Nvidia reference Windows 10 driver will work on it.

i just bought an nvidia Ge force 9400 gt and tried installing the drivers and i get an error message that says
(the nvidia setup program has detected that one or more Microsoft hardware installation wizards are active. do you want to continue with setup? click yes to minimize setup until you complete or cancel the other installation wizard(s). click no to exit setup.)
the installation wizard is trying to automatically install the hardware but if i go into control panel/administrative tools/plug and play and disable plug and play like i was told, the program says that there is no available graphics adapter but the original error message telling me other installation programs are running is gone. how am i supposed to install these drivers if windows is trying to install them with another program? How can i disable hardware install wizard so that it doesnt disable the graphics adapter PLEASE HELP!

A:Windows hardware installation manager overrides my Nvidia Geforce 9400 GT install

Follow these steps to install your new graphics card:

1. Download the latest drivers for your card. Clean all old video drivers from your system. You may use Driver Sweeper if you wish.
2. Shut your PC down and put the new GPU in the motherboard slot.
3. Start up the system and change your primary graphics adapter in BIOS to PCI-E (assuming you have a PCI-E card) or PCI / AGP.
4. After logging in to Windows just close the Hardware Installation Wizard when it comes up. Double click on the drivers you downloaded and it should be installed without any issues.
