Preferred Solution: Browsing/page Loading Speed Is Good But Downloading Speed Is Too Slow

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Browsing/page Loading Speed Is Good But Downloading Speed Is Too Slow

Have you monitored your system with Windows Task Manager while downloading? If you determine Firefox is causing the problem, try safe mode and/or a new profile. Sometimes settings and/or extensions got corrupted leading to strange behavior. Standard diagnostic - Firefox

This is my second thread, regarding my internet connection.I have a wireless connection and a d-link router.I have a 1 mb connection in which download speed is usually - 125kb/s and upload speed is 9 or 10 kb/s.I could easily watch online movies without buffering.
But,Recently while watching a video it buffers like after every 3-5 seconds. And while downloading stuff(via torrent) it is very slow and the download speed shown is 1kb/s , which is very very slow.I think the is caused by a software called tcp z(it patches tcpip.syc, according the users limit). The changes made by it are temporary and only occur till shutdown. But,I m not sure by what it might be caused by.
So please can anyone help me out regarding this.Suggestions and advices are welcome .

Hello, I just got this x360 Spectre i7 15.6" laptop and I love it, except for the speed at which things load on the browsers. I have high speed internet and ran a speed test and the speed is as it should. I've tried multiple browsers, and even though I have a very strong connection to my high speed internet, it takes forever to open up even a single website. I regularly wait anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes for the site to load. I just got this computer so haven't even saved any files or installed any programs onto it besides anti virus software. How can I resolve this very slow loading time? I'd hate to have to return this computer, but cannot stand to have to deal with these frustrations with a computer I paid $1300 for!! Please help! Katy

A:Fast download speed, low browsing/streaming speed

Set the MTU in the router itself to 1492

Analyzer is saying that my MTU is 1460, but in my router and in my NIC it is 1500Click to expand...

the normal value for DSL is 1492, and 1460 is INVALID = = must be a multiple of 8.

Manually set {1472 or 1464} in the router.

The article cited has good info but I would opt for all the defaults.

restore:

netsh int tcp set heuristics enabled
netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal
netsh int tcp set global rss=enabled

see this article to set SackOpts=1

You could try Opera it has a Turbo feature.

Quote:
When Opera Turbo is enabled, webpages are compressed via Opera's servers so that they use much less data than the originals. This means that there is less to download, so you can see your webpages more quickly.

A:Slow Browsing Speed

Hello crazyricardo and welcome to the BC HijackThis forum. I don't see any signs of viruses or malware in the log but it does look like there is a bit of housekeeping that can be done. It appears that AVG Anti-Spyware, Kapersky Anti-Virus and Webroot SpySweeper were once installed and not removed completely. Let's clean the leftover items out.Start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:O20 - Winlogon Notify: klogon - C:\WINDOWS\system32\klogon.dllO20 - Winlogon Notify: WRNotifier - WRLogonNTF.dll (file missing)O23 - Service: AVG Anti-Spyware Guard - Unknown owner - (no file)O23 - Service: Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 (AVP) - Unknown owner - C:\Archivos de programa\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0\avp.exe" -r (file missing)Now close ALL open windows except HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button to finish the repair and then reboot the machine.Other than that the log looks fine. The HijackThis forum deals exclusively with virus and malware issues. HijackThis does not have the capability to analyze performance, hardware or application issues. For these types of issues I would suggest posting to the Windows XP Home and Professional forumThe techs in that forum specialize in matters pertaining to the operating system, performance and applications. Let them know that you have been to this forum and that no malware was found. When posting to any other forum, do not post a HijackThis log or the post will simply be moved back to this forum for infection analysis. That is what HijackThis is used for and that is what we specialize in here in this forum. Also, when posting in any other forum for assistance, give as much detail as possible regarding any issues that are occurring. The more information they have, the better the techs can analyze the issue and make any recommendations for resolving it.Cheers.OT

Hi. I just bought a Virgin 20Mb broadband package, downloads work fine and near enough at that speed but browsing the internet takes forever to load webpages (30sec-1 min). On Speedtest.net it showed my download speed was 19Mb/s but my upload speed was just 0.16Mb/s, I'm gathering this is the reason why browsing is so slow. If anyone can help, I'd greatly appreciate it. Oh and if you ask for any logs or any information could you explain how to get it in realy simple terms please because I don't know or understand any of the techno language. Thank you!!

Has anyone any solutions to curing very slow browsing speeds on Vistat (15-20 secs for a page to load). My broadband speed is around 32mb and my ISP (Virgin Media) claim this is not a problem of theirs. My PC manufacturer (ACER) can only advise that I format my machine, which seems a bit radical.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

A:SLOW BROWSING SPEED ON VISTA

Did this just start or has it always been this way? If the former, what is new or different since the last time everything worked properly (ie, new hw, new sw, virus, error, etc)?

Is browsing slow with all browsers (Firefox, Opera, IE, etc)?

I installed windows 7 64-bit the other day and i've noticed that browsing the internet is VERY difficult. Sometimes pages will only half load (missing graphics etc) or not load at all. I have tried chrome, IE and firefox and they all have the same issues. As another example, no youtube videos load anymore it just gives me an error. I know my internet isn't this slow because it never has been and i haven't changed anything, if i'm downloading files from the internet I can get decent speeds, its just browsing that is the real pain. I have looked for solutions to the problem, and i've tried them but they don't seem to work, one told me to add these two keys to my registry, one told me to type something into command prompt others have told me to disable windows update and nothing has solved it. Any help would be appreciated.

A:VERY Slow internet browsing speed.

Just a stupid question : did you install your network card's drivers over Windows 7's supplied drivers? It can make a huge difference because Win7's are very basic.

Btw, Welcome to Win7 forums.

I have 5 computers using a wireless internet connection and one computer is hardwired to the router. All the computers show a speed test result of 3.5 download and 1.5 upload. All the wireless computers browse quickly but the hardwired computer takes up to 30 seconds to open webpages. It is just as slow in safe mode. How can I fix this?

When comparing speeds, remember to divide your speedtest result by 8. 0.89 mbps is around 101KBps.

Download speeds depend on many factors, inclduing the modem/router, traffic through your ISP at the time, and the type of download, just to name a couple.

What type of download is it? Are they torrents? These can often be slow.

Are downloads slow from everywhere?

You mentioned video buffering; Do you have downloads going at the same time that you are trying to view a video? Are there other people sharing your connection (eg other family members)?

You didn't say if you had tried rebooting the router/modem, or if you had been in contact with your ISP. These would be among the first things to try.

As you haven't stated what you have tried, I'm going to assume none of the following have been tried. Apologies if you have tried/tested the following.

If you plug a phone into the same wall socket at your modem do hear any noise/static or is is sound quality very poor or low volume? These might indicate physical line problems, which your Telco would need to address.

It's also possible the equipment at your local exchange is in need of a reboot. This is often referred to as a "Port reset". Your ISP can do this for you.

Other things you can try is replacing the phone and ethernet cable (if you are connected by cable), or replacing the line filter if you have one. If you have multiple devices on your phone line remove everything except your modem/router.

If you have a DSL connection you know that the speeds will vary dramatically from one hour to the next. But 2KBps is poor in any situation.

Have you tried doing ping and tracert to various sites? You ISP may want this information to place a fault report with your telco.

copy and paste results into an email to your ISP

ping www.google.com -t (Stop it after a minute or so).
ping www.yahoo.com -t (Stop it after a minute or so).

tracert www.google.com

See how you go with the above. Get back to us if you get no joy from your ISP/Telco.

Hello,
In the last 24 hours I have noticed a 'slower downloading' of my internet browsing. Almost every I try to do like refresh pages, watch videos, post topics and click on links it takes forever. Youtube videos or online streams take forever to load and they play in 'clips' not straight through. Even music played through WMP is slow and clippy.

I am using Windows 7 Home Premium with SP 1.

What do I need to do?

Are you running a torrent application that is seeding torrents? If so set your maximum upload rate to about 75%-80% of your total upload speed. More information is needed to furthur assist you. What browser, what router, Internet speed, Apps installed, firewall, Antivirus, blah, blah, blah. This is a really hard problem to diagnose with the information you provided.

Hello
I have a problem with my PC that has been bugging me for a long time.
My web browsing is painfully slow on some sites (SharePoint, sage, office 365, linked in etc. etc.),
But works fine for others (porn sites, YouTube, google search, eBay, Facebook etc. etc.).
It is really annoying as my PC isn?t that old, and isn?t a bad spec.
It?s really frustrating as it makes working a real pain.
Can anyone help please?
I really don?t know how to get this sorted?.
Thanks,
Sean.

A:Download and Browsing Speed are Extremely Slow

This is almost surely their issue from your description.

Let's do a test. Boot in Safe Mode with Networking, and connect with a wired connection directly to the modem and run the following test.
Register at DSLReports and run their Line Quality Tests. It's best to run this test with a direct wired connection to eliminate any wireless issues from the results. It's useful many times to run this test several times, and we'd like to see each of the results. Post the results link from the top of the test display page for each test run here.

The link to post is near the top of the page and looks like:

If you wish to post this result to a forum, please copy/paste this URL
http://www.dslreports.com/linequality/nil/2357195 <- sample only, yours will obviously be different!
and your IP will be disguised.

Copy/paste that link here.

Note: You will have to enable PING (ICMP) request response either in your router (if you have one), or in your computer's firewall for direct modem connections. This is very important to get the most important part of the test to run.
DSLReports

Here's also the Line Quality Tests FAQ to help you understand the results. This will answer some questions about the line quality display.

Hi, welcome to TSF

Firefox has always been slow to open compared to IE, because IE is so deeply integrated into the Windows operating system and has most of its components loaded when you boot into Windows.

The about:config tweaks you mention affect various aspects of how Firefox loads pages, but as far as I'm aware they can't improve the program's loading time.

Try creating a new profile with no addons or themes, then reboot the computer and load Firefox with this new profile to see how its start time compares to your normal profile with all its extras.

Ok, a little weird replying to my own question, but I think I found something that may help others with this issue. I went into Device Manager>Network Adapters>"wireless" (depending upon your adapter)>Properties, then into Advanced using the Advanced tab.My Receive and Transmission Buffer settings were at "256"; I changed them to 512 (max allowed), clicked "OK". I also changed the "AdHoc Mode" to 11n from 11b. I then restarted the Mini 2102. I noticed an immediate web browsing speed increase. I would not call it blazing, but pretty close to what would be "normal" browsing speeds. The "Buffer" settings regulate and limit how much memory the network adapter can use. I noticed a jump in memory usage for Google Chrome, but the overall usage was at max about 60% of the 2GB installed. So far this has been the most dramatic performance increase for web browsing. Even more so  than upgrading the wireless card from "g" to "n:I hope this may help someone else with this issue. Let me know if it does help.

A:64-bit wireless issues. Very slow download speed and browsing

there are a couple of things you can try. First, you can open your device manager, find your wireless card in the list under network adapters, then select 'update drivers'. Let your system connect to the Internet to try and find a newer or better driver. Why did you do all of these:- DOS command "netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled"- DOS command "netsh winsock reset calatog"- TCPOptizmier: gotten only worse and i think it was when my signal started to get weaker.- Disaled IPv6 in internet options- Disabled QoSMy guess is at this point things are so mucked up (throw out the TCPOptimizer.. they never really optimize anything) that you may simply have to remove all of oyur network adapters through the device manager, reboot, and let the system reinstall the adapter. Once it reinstall it, then try upgrading the driver again as before. Right now it sounds like the adapter profile is so screwed up that it is just limping along on default settings.

I constantly have my windows explorer freeze up to where i can't even pull up task manager. The sound card stutters and sometimes sounds like static. At least a couple times a week this eventually ends in blue screen of death. I bought the computer within the past 6 months. I have enclosed a zip file with the needed reports.

I have done no reinstall or changed the operating system since i purchased it pre-built from dell.

Blamed on US224x64.sys. I can find no reference to this file so it is either very unusal or may be malware. Dated 2007 so if you know what it is you should update it, if you dont I wold download malwarebytes and run it. If you are unsure you can remove it or rename it to *.bak so it wont load.

Code:

How To Find Drivers:

Quote:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

- - The most common drivers are listed on this page: Driver Reference Driver Reference
- - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: Drivers and Downloads

A:Upgrade causing slow browsing, fine internet speed

Are you using the latest network drivers? Also, things like java and flash player and any other plugins you use need to be installed with a new install.

Try changing DNS servers to opendns or google.

Hello - recently web browsing using Firefox (v29.0) has become very slow/choppy/laggy.

I've performed speed tests with my ISP and I am consitently at 10mpbs down and 3mps up, which are the expected rates.

This appears to be specifically an issue with web browsing with Firefox.

I used Avast 2014 (free) as my antivirus and all weekly scans find no viruses.  I've also scanne my computer using Malwarebytes (lates version) and nothing has been found.

I'm a bit puzzle by this as not much has changed on this computer in the past few months.  I'm not sure if this could be a virus/spyware/malware issue or just poor firefox performance more recent revisions of the browser.

Any help that can be provided would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I notice when I open a folder with a lot of images the thumbnails take a very long time to load (medium or large thumbnails). Sometimes even icons are slow loading.

Is this a processor problem, a ram problem or a graphics card issue.

Are there any tweaks I can do to speed up the loading of thumbnails?

Kind Regards
Chris

PS. The thumbnail cache is presently set to not configured/NO in the local group policy editor which means the thumbnail cache is working.

A:How To Speed Up Slow Thumbnail Loading

An easy trick to speed up a picture folder is to change how it's optimized, selecting General Items instead of the default Images:

My siblings card is atheros.

If you know how to get my speed up to par thatd be much appreciated, thanks

Hi everyone and thanks for taking a look at my problem.

About a week ago, my internet has become extremely slow. The speed tests show good results but nothing will load! It took forever just to get here. It is only slow on the internet, and I did virus scans, ad-aware scans, and spyware scans. Nothing came up except some tracking cookies.

I've noticed that when it is slow the link light on my modem is solid, it is usually flashing. I also have a router but I've had it for a while and I haven't changed anything so I don't think that is the problem.

If someone could please help me out that would be great.

Thanks.

A:Snail Speed Pc At Times And Always Slow Internet Speed On Vista Ultimate

I found this helpful information on possible solutions, very familiar with errors on previous Microsoft operating systems. http://www.vandersluijs.nl/content/view/973/96/lang,enI uninstalled one of the suggested updates and so far it is fine, the update was only optional so no security threats. I think it has helped, not certain if it will be like a fresh install because windows is slower than it was two weeks ago. If 3 weeks is best windows can handle for being ready for a new install I may have to go back to Linux. I hope this thread can stay on this forum somewhere to help others follow the link I posted above for possible solutions to this problem, it will save them time and effort trying numerous things.

A:My 2TB WD Green has fast write speed but slow read speed

The Rosewill card's transfer rate is "up to 1.5GB/s." The WD hard drive's is 3.0Gb/s. Perhaps if you set the jumper on the 5-6 pins to activate the 1.5GB/s rate per this instruction: Western Digital.

i have recently gone from having 2mbps broadband to nearly 7mbps broadband but the web pages seem to take alot longer to load especially if they are new pages that i have not visited before. i was wondering what the reason for this could be?? i thought that if the internet connection was faster then webpages would load faster too. could it be something to do with IE7 although i had no problems with it when i had the slower connection. any help with this would be welcomed.

Hi, welcome to this forum!

Please visit this site to measure the real speed of the connection. When done please post the results here.
Internet providers (who gives you the internet) usually make an offer of x speed internet but they only guarantee you to get much less. So the speed might change up and down sometimes. If the internet is still very slow please read the details of your agreement with the internet provider. But first give us the speed results from that site

Recently my desktop has experienced very slow download speeds (~0.11 Mbps), however the upload speed appears to be in line (~2.0Mbps). These numbers are taken from Comcast's speed test (my ISP). It is obviously a problem with my PC because everything else on the network (PS3, Laptop) have great signals with no problems. I just recently reverted the Desktop back to its factory state, and everything was working fine for a couple of months.

The desktop in question uses Vista 32-bit and the Belkin Basic USB Wireless Adapter.

A:Very slow download speed, upload speed is fine

Welcome to TSG:
Run a speedtest here and see if the results are the same:
http://www.speedtest.net/
Then, boot up in safe mode with networking and see if the speed improves.Like so:

You may have aquired a "rootkit"Some are very hard to detect & remove.Go here,http://www.pchell.com/support/rootkitremovaltools.shtmlYou should be able to find something there to find out if a rootkit is the problem.

I see a number of threads here concerning problems Vista/IE9 8.1/IE11 Windows Speed vs. Windows Loading Page with IE and Windows I have read through many of them Each problem seems to be a little different and here is mine I have a new December HP desktop which came with Windows and IE I am Windows 8.1/IE11 vs. Windows Vista/IE9 Page Loading Speed using the desktop mode as my interface On this machine certain websites load slowly and erratically to seconds or more What is bothersome is that the page will not release the cursor or mouse wheel until everything has loaded The elements on the page that display slowly seem to be those with animations requiring Flash this is usually advertisements This has been the behavior since I started using the machine The main part of the page loads then the Flash-based advertisements take a long time to load and only then release the cursor amp mouse In the same room I have my previous computer Windows Vista running with IE The same websites load very quickly and seamlessly and release the cursor and mouse wheel within - seconds Both machines access the same router Airport Extreme and I am using Ethernet to connect to the router on both machines My antivirus is Avast same version on both machines Having Avast active or not does not alter the results The Windows IE machine does not have Java the Vista IE does have Java Unless there is something I am missing the Internet Options are basically the same for both machines I have not tried any other browsers on either machine as I have no experience with them I am probably missing something obvious but would be happy to receive advice from others here as to how get my IE speed up to my IE speed Thanks

An example of a really slow-to-load web site on Windows 8.1/IE11 is:

62 Windows 8 tips, tricks and secrets | News | TechRadar

Takes about 15 seconds to release the cursor.

That opens very quickly (about 3 seconds to release cursor) on my Vista/IE9 machine. If someone would try it, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Recently moved house and had installed my internet today, the exact same setup.

Right now the only difference with this setup is that the router is plugged into my laptop, and if anything, it's closer to my computer than it was in the previous house.

My problem is that it randomly goes slow for short periods of time, or in games it lags like crazy. For example while watching youtube it'll shoot up the loading bar fast and then all of a sudden stop, and go really slowly, then back into fast speed over and over.

What can I do to resolve this?

A:Slow speed, fast speed, slow speed.

Go to speedtest.net and see what your download and upload speeds are. Watching a youtube video will use less bandwidth than a game would.

You could also do a tracert to google.com to see if there are any high response times.

Why is it that early in the morning when I check my email or browse the web, it seems to be faster. And later on in the day, signing into my email or going to websites takes more time. Internet speed seems to be faster for me in the morning hours. Is there a reason behind this?

Love,
Madeline

A:Browsing speed

Normally this has to do with bandwidth and location. Usually during peak hours, internet traffic is at it's highest. This usually is regional as people in the states will be hitting high traffic webservers during the day. Depending on where you are in the world, internet traffic can vary during certain times.

It's not that the speed of page loading is so slow but I changed my connection speed yesterday with my ISP to double that which I had before yet I don't see any difference in how rapidly a page loads with any of my browsers When downloading a file it does load twice as fast as before This Browsing Speed caused my Browsing Speed to reflect on how I reset the port speed settings in XP using the Recovery Console and the ems redirect to dialup days even though it was set to this within the Device Manager already I had a number of people on another forum tell me that it would make no difference but it did As Browsing Speed I understood MS had written it in such a manner that it overrode this setting because they thought it would slow dissemination of certain viruses etc on the internet The fact that page loading remains the same despite the increase in speed of my connection makes me wonder if there is anything in W that might have the same effect

Good question. I've been looking for an answer similar to this. Hope we get a response.

Recently, I reinstalled my Netgear wna3100 driver. Ever since then, I've been experiencing problems with high pings in games where I normally never had problems with. Pages load slowly even just the home page of Google.

I've attached my ipconfig picture. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

A:High download speed and signal, high ping in games, slow page loads

To Disable Selective Suspend:

open the control panel
go to power options (you may have to set view to small icons)
click change plan settings
in the window that opens:
click change plan settings
click change advanced power settings, expand usb and ensure usb selective suspend is disabled.

I would also (while the device is plugged in)
go into the control panel - system - device manager - click the properties for it and make sure it's set to always on there as well.
I don't think the ipconfig can tell us much here since it's a data rate problem of some sort and not a actual connection problem from the sound of it.

The two things I mention above will hopefully keep your system from putting the device in 'low power mode' which may , or may not help your current problem.

I'm also curious if your system has recently slowed down in any other ways?

Hi guys,

I formatted my old PIII and installed W7 Pro.

Here below my configuration:

AOPEN AX34, P3 1.0 GHz, 1,5GB RAM, WD 120 GB, Pioneer DVR-116D, Plextor PX-716A, HIS 9600 256Mb, Canon i865, W7 PRO
Now, this PC is only meant to run 2 programs and some browsing.
The programs are not a problem they are running well, browsing it is.
Essentially, with IE 9.0 it does not move, it takes ages to load pages.
With Chrome is much better but still unacceptable for ordinary browsing.
Is there any tweak I can do to improve the browsing experience?
Also, is there a way in the registry to change (temporarily) the RAM parameter and let an application I want to install to believe I have 2GB instead of 1.5GB ?
Otherwise, that application will not install as they require 2GB min. RAM.
Thank you!
Alex

I recently switched to a higher speed internet. Had 12 Mbps and went up to 18. But I notice no difference in my browser speed, especially when it comes to switching from video to video. Is there no relationship between download speed and browser speed? Do I need to do a Hijack This log?

A:Download speed and browsing

If you want to prioritze video traffic (or any other specific type) you might be able to implement QOS on your router. That could give you a boost.

If I read you right, you're saying your browser itself is slow as ever, but your download/upload speeds are better. If that's the case then I'd say no, your internet connection won't make the browser faster necessarily, because that's connected to the local machine's resources that the browser is using (CPU, RAM, etc), not the internet connection.

I have broadband 1.5 mbps
When i run the speakeasy speed test it shows that too roughly 1.5 mbps, however when i am downloading stuff i always max out at about 50 - 60 kbps.
When i am downloading torrent files i know it depends on how many seeders you have and whatnot but i noticed it doesn't matter if i have 1 file downloading or 10 at any given time, it adds up to roughly 50 - 60 kbps.
I even opened up limewire while also downloading the torrent file and it split it up between the 2 programs each downloading at about 25 - 30 kbps.
How do the isp come up with their figure of 1.5 mbps?

A:Downloading speed

well, your ISP must be using same method as Speak Easy as you say they both arrive at the same numbers?

But that measurement speed test arrives at 1.5MB is the download transfer time the calculate between you and a server physically shorter distance to you (then your other internet data requests) which is downloading a file of fixed size. So it becomes just math of size/time for your download rate.

Now, all that said, all your file transfers aren't under the same conditions as the speed test where, for one thing, you are using a server close to you. So testing with their server over short distance vs. unknown server far away doesn't account for:
- delays due to routing the data back/forth around the world
- the data server on other end (as well as communication servers in between) may not all be as fast as the one at Speak Esy for your test
- various other internet unknowns... which you can continue to investigate but for the most part are not probably due to your ISP. And your ISP can't deliver data any faster then the speed of the slowest link along the back/forth network path your data has taken.

IE 11 keeps on asking me if I want to speed up browsing by disabling add-ons.

I.E. has been a pain recently with these sort of questions (I get them most days also)

I have never replied to these, but just [x] out of it. This may be a reminder to all of us regardless of System (mine is Win 7)

Someone out there may be totally annoyed and asked Microsoft, but I have not seen a specific post.

Hi all.

I have searched for the answer to this, but found no solution.

Every once in a while, I get a pop-up from IE11, which keeps asking me if I want to speed up browsing by disabling add-ons.

The searching I have done has led me to two main places to address this:

1. Choose add-ons
2. Disable add-ons

Then, it seems as tho you can change the time in which that message appears.

I however, have neither of the above; I have Manage add-ons, and it is not possible to change the time there.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

I have a 1.5 meg internet connection. I am wondering why I donít always download at 155 kb/ sec. Sometimes I only download at 90kb/ sec. Why? For example I am currently downloading something from Rapid Share. Rapid share says they have more then enough bandwidth to support any download speed at any time. So itís not on their end. And I am not consuming bandwidth with anything else. All the bandwidth is being used to download the file. And itís not my connection. I did a speed check test and it said I was connected at 1.25 mbps and that I could download at 155 kbps. So whatís going on? I have seen this happen many times with different sites.

The only firewall I have is Windows firewall.

A:Only downloading at 2/3rds max speed sometimes???

Internet connection speeds aren't guaranteed. Those max speeds are usually when it's not peak time when everyone else isn't on downloading stuff. Plus, the internet will usually try to get you the shortest, fastest connection, but that's not counting loss packets due to other things such as interference or a . And I wouldn't believe that Rapidshare has enough bandwidth to accomodate everyone at their max speed at the same time. Not saying that they don't, but no one in the world has enough bandwidth when too many people log in and try to download all at the same time.

Are you using a wireless router or anything like that. A low signal from the router can dramatically decrease your speeds. List your hardware and stuff and maybe we can work a little further with this, 'cause you're not giving us alot to work with here.

Try downloading at non-peak hours and see if that helps. However, if you still don't think it's your connection, there might be a bottle neck somewhere on your computer that's preventing it from downloading at the full speed.

I upgraded my OS from WIN 7 Home 64-bit, to WIN 7 Prof 64-bit and my browsing speed decreased dramatically. I primarily used Chrome before, but browsing is practically impossible on it now. So now I use Firefox 4 since its been decent with me. I have no clue what went wrong since the upgrade was successful. My router is fine, but browsing speed is just super slow. I know this is a common problem with a simple answer, but I forgot what the answer was.

Okay, so I'm browsing normally, no problems with anything taking too long to load. But then as soon as someone else jacks into the router, I get problems with loading things.

Now I forgot, which of these things is usually used to solve that? A better router? Faster internet service? Both? Something else?

Also, which of these things would help me with computers that don't get very good browsing speed while connecting wirelessly?

A:Browsing speed is fine, until someone else plugs into the router.

The reason your connectiion appears to slow down is that your ISP provides a certain amount of bandwidth to your connection and this is divided among all the computers connected to it.

So you have, say, a 5Mbs connection, then one computer gets the whole 5Mbs to itself, 5 computers it's 1Mbps per computer. It's not quite as simple as that, it depends a lot on what the various users are doing, but that basically is what is happening.

Unless you have a very fast internet connection, the limiting factor is the speed of your internet connection to your ISP.

Connecting by wireless, as opposed to ethernet, is almost always slower, although the reduction may be very small. It depends on a lot of factors which include : distance from the router; structural materials between the computer and the router; alignment and positiioning of the various aerials.

For computers with reduced browsing speed using wi-fi, probably the biggest difference you can make is to play around with the aerial position. As an example, I use a USB dongle on my desktop which is mounted using a magnetic clip and a short extension cable at the very front top of the right hand side. if the mounting clip slips down by as little as half an inch ( 1.25 cm ) I lose about 25% of my signal !

A:how increase downloading speed on torrent

Hi,

You really can't increase the speed of a torrent download. It is all based on the speed of your connections, and how many hosts you are downloading from. That is about as far as I can go without getting into detail.

Cheers!
