Motherboard Installation manual

Q: Motherboard Installation manual

I have an old Acer Aspire m3100 desktop and the case to it is broken, I have another case for it but I do not have the installation manual to show me how to reconnect all of the connections from this other case. How can I get or find the diagram showing how to make all connections to this motherboard. I'm trying to restore this computer for my grandson? any help would be appreciated, I've tried contacting Acer but they won't help unless the computer is under warranty and their third-party support doesn't do hardware issues?? I also downloaded a manual from online but it doesn't show the right info.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Check this is the right motherboard.

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=2500#ov

The manual is available in the support and downloads section.

Case wiring is pretty standard in most cases (no pun intended). Any details you have about the case your switching to would be helpful.

Motherboards mostly have the names of sockets screen printed next to them.

Hello,  I have a H50-55 with a Bantry CRB 31900058 STD MB and was wondering if there is a manual for it?  I'd like to move it into a new case to keep it cool as I make small upgrades to it.  What I can't find is something that'll help me in connecting a new case's front pannel with the motherboard.  The case I'm interested in is the DeepCool tesseract sw. Thanks

Greetings, Your on your own. I know of no all encompassing manual containing the information you and I would like to have at our disposal. There are bits and pieces of information at your PC's support site. I have quite a few HP systems and have had to use due diligence to find configuration and troubleshooting information. OEM's like it that way. That's how they make more money. Cheers!

In device manager, under Univerisal Bus controllers, usb - right click, power management and make sure you go through and uncheck the boxs that say "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". Double check the same for keyboards and mice, then make sure that the box is checked for Under keyboards and mice, under power management "allow this device to wake the computer".

I have a fancy tower with a flashing blue light inside and I had my husband put the motherboard from another tower into this one. The mother board has this stamped on it: HT 2000 MCP61PM AM, Rev:1.0, 15-V01-011000 ei. Well, my tower has a reset button on it, but we don't know where to put the wire for it on the motherboard or even if we can. Can anyone tell me where to view/download a manual for my motherboard?
It is a Syntax S845GE.
My real issue, is trying to upgrade the memory above 768 MB. I have recently purchased 3 different sticks, all 1 gig pc2700.
All of them cause windows to blue screen before it will boot. I am able to get into the cmos setup, but it will not verify the amount of ram installed. If I try to reload windows, it gives an error that windows xp needs atleast 64MB of memory.
I am almost sure this motherboard will support 2 GB of ram, but I am wondering if I may need to change a jumper.
Thanks for any help.

A:S845GE motherboard manual location?

The board number you posted, i.e. S845GE gives me reason to feel confident that the board is either one of the standard Intel 845 series boards that used the 845GE chipset and the machine manufacturer just changed the Intel designation from a D845 series to a S845 series, OR, a manufacturer proprietary board built on an Intel 845 series board.

I ASSUME that the machine would boot prior to trying to install the additional memory. If this is correct, install the old memory, and proceed with the following instructions.

There are a couple of things you can do to determine if the board is a standard Intel board, or a manufacturer proprietary board.

1st download the Intel Chipset ID Utility to your desktop, and launch the application. It will immediately identify the chipset if it is an Intel chipset.

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/det...id=861&dwnldid=7961&agr=y&lang=eng&prdmap=861

After you identify the chipset, reboot the machine and when it is booting continuously tap the F2 key to access BIOS. When BIOS opens you will see a group of numbers, for example a group such as RG84510A.86A.0033.P17 Post the complete group of numbers displayed. These numbers are called your BIOS string, and will determine if the board is a standard or proprietary board.

If the board is a standard Intel board it should be relatively easy to find the board manual at the Intel site. If the board is a manufacturer proprietary board, then you would need to get the board information from the machine's manufacturers site.

Although the 845 series boards were designed to support up to 2Gb. of memory, most were never validated to support 2Gb.

Anyone know where to find a manual?

In startup the message appears "computer has been openend" or something similar.
How can I stop that? perhaps a jumper or switch?

Why do I have to use F1 functionswitch to startup?
Is there a way to avoid that and start right trough?

I can not find this motherboard manual, drivers in http://www.quantatw.com/Quanta/chinese/Default.aspx

This website does not have contact details.

Can you help me to find out the motherboard manual, drivers?

So I can download the motherboard manual, drivers.

A:Help Find Motherboard P3V-T (Quanta) Manual, Drivers?

Your link does nothing; it simply goes to the mfg's site NOT a link to the board.

Next you do not need a manual to install the board into the case. If you look at the top of this forum, there are some guides. In one of them there is a step by step procedure for installing a board into a case.

Have you looked on the board itself? The mfg's name should be on the board AND the type of chipset. If it is something like an nforce or via chipset, you can download the board driver from the chipset maker's site.

As to what cpu, the manual will be out of date anyway. Board maker's release bios updates to support new cpus.

By chance did this board come out of a big box system like a dell, hp, gateway, etc?
If so and you are attempting to install it in a standard atx type case, you will almost always have problems.

Hi!

I have a new computer that I want to keep off the internet.

However, I want to keep all the software on it updated.

Is that possible? Can I manually install all software (including Windows) updates?

If yes, then how?

A:Manual installation of all software updates?

Hi blankblack

You can but you would still need another pc with internet access to download the software updates.Programs are easy you can just check the programs websites for any updates to software, download to another pc, copy the installers to a Usb stick or external Hdd then install on your other pc.A lot of work really.
Windows updates too can be downloaded in standalone form from the Microsoft website.Again its a lot of work especially finding out what updates you need as you wont be able to run Windows Update to check on Kb numbers but yes in theory you can and some people do.

What should I do in preparation for this new installation?

A:New Motherboard Installation

Before you (or anyone else) installs a new motherboard, i recommend you back up anything that you consider precious. There is a very good chance that you will be reinstalling windows. If you dont, it tends to act finicky and tends to crash a lot. So basically what I am saying is, prepare to start from scratch.

I just recently purchased a computer case that has built in metal risers. With the motherboard installed on top of these risers it fits pefectly and matches up with the I/O cover. If I use the brass risers it lifts the motherboard to high to connect to the I/O cover. I tried installing an old motherboard that was working previously in the case and it no longer powers on. Green light comes on but no power. The power supply still will power up other motherboards that I have. I'm assuming I shorted the board. I have a new motherboard that I would like to install in this case but don't want to risk shorting this one. Has anyone built any computers with these type of metal risers built in to the computer case? Do I need some plastic stand offs or what? Please help.

Hi All!
I just recently ordered a new motherboard/processor/ram combination to upgrade my computer!
I'm wondering if there is anything that I need to do inside the operating systems
before I put the motherboard/cpu/ram in my computer and take the old out.

My computer right now has the following specs:

Gigabyte GA-7N400 Pro2
AMD Atholon XP 2800+
2 GB (1GB+512MB+512MB) DDR ram
ATi Radeon X1600XT (AGP 8x)
Two HDD (80&160), XP SP3 on 80GB; Vista on 50GB of 160GB

After this upgrade computer will have the following specs:

GIGABYTE GA-MA78GM-S2H
AMD Atholon X2 6000+ (3.1GHz)
2 GB (1GB+1GB) DDR2 ram
ATi Radeon HD3200 (integrated)
Two HDD (80&160), XP SP3 on 80GB; Vista on 50GB of 160GB

Are there any things I need to shutdown? I'm at a complete loss when it comes to these kinds of installations...

Thanks!

We have a Gigabyte 8inxp motherboard, 512mb (2 x 256) ddr 2100 ram, Intel P4 2.4ghz cpu, 450 watt power supply which is compatible with the cpu, G-force 2mx 32mb vid' card. We have power but there is nothing coming through on the monitor. We've interchanged the video card, memory, hard drive & the ide cables with another computer but we're still getting the same problem. All the power cables are inserted and we only have one hard drive (correct jumper settings) and video card connected when testing. If it supports 8x video cards would it be giving us problems with a Gforce 2 (32 & 64 cards)?

Hi all, going to install new motherboard, does anything in windows 'add/remove programs' need to be removed before installing new software for the new motherboard? thanks

A:New motherboard installation

If you are going to reuse the Windows installation on the new motherboard, you will need to do an XP repair (i assume this is the OS). No, no programs need to be removed.

The hardware is so different, most likely it will not boot and possibly trash the XP installation, so you need to install the new mobo, enter the bios and set the date and time, make any custom changes you need, save changes and exit. Do not let it try to boot from the hard drive, boot from the XP CD and do a repair install, this will remove all the old hardware drivers, once the repair is done, boot into windows and install all your new motherboard drivers, starting with the chipset driver.

Hello guys. In some days I will buy a new motherboard not the same with the old one. My question is do I have to uninstall the drivers from the old motherboard and how can I do it?

A:New motherboard installation

Motherboards do not store Drivers. They are kept on the hard drive and are part of the operating system.
If you are referring to settings in the BIOS-they are part of the motherboard and are not an issue either.
In changing motherboards it is wise to do a Clean Install of Windows 7. That way only the drivers needed to run the motherboard (LAN, sound, video, etc) chipset will be installed fresh. We usually use the opportunity to install a new hard disc when doing a rebuild, but that is a personal thing.
Finally-if you want to clear the BIOS on the old motherboard, you can use its clearing pins and/or remove the battery for a period of time. Check the manual for the board to see how this is done in your case.

Make sure nothing is shorting. Look for the MB in contact with the case.
If you don't see anything trying the MB sitting outside the case may be necessary.

Hey Fellow Computroids!!

Can anyone send me a link to a How to Install a New Motherboard, New CPU, and New Memory" site or document.

I just installed a Intel DH87RL Motherboard with an Intel Core i7-4770K Quad Core Processor and two 8GB Kingston HyperX Blu 1600Mhz 240pin DDR3 memory sticks (16GB kit).

Either I have started drinking or Intel's website is confusing and I can't pin down what I am looking for.

My Hard Drive has Windows 7 Ultimate 64. All I can do is turn on the machine and get a nice Intel Logo that lasts for about 10 seconds. The computer will then reboot and do the same thing again, forever.

I know I need some drivers but where, how, and which ones??

I probably have over-extended my PC experience on this one. If any one can help me out, it would certainly be much appreciated.

since it is a new mobo, you are going to need new drivers. can you safe boot? repeatedly hit F8 when booting. If you can you can get the new drivers you need and install them in safe mode

So awhile back my trusty mobo blitzed on me. I've since purchased and installed a new mobo and PSU. Rebuilding the PC was a breeze, and I got a boot with no issues. As predicted, however, no OS was detected on my old pair of HDDs.

So I've booted from the Vista DVD. I wasn't given a repair option, so I just started through the pre-installation menus. I'm now at the point where I choose where to install Vista (I'm assuming the choice to install or simply repair comes after this menu). Windows is reading 149GB of free space, but when I select that space and hit continue, I get the following message:

"Windows is unable to find a system volume that meets its criteria for installation."

What to do? Thanks in advance

Next time that you start the machine be tapping on F8 and hope that "safe mode" comes up. That is the key for safe mode. You could also reset the bios (remove battery 15 secs). If these don't work, post back. Good Luck. You could also be tapping on "delete" right as machine starts for entry into setup. Do you have the drives in the proper boot order?

Hey guys.

I thought I'd make this thread in here as to move on from the BSOD thread for now and on to an installation trouble with my new motherboard. Basically the trouble is I am having a hard time getting the adhesive pads off the back of the bracket plate. Any suggestions and some tips of setup for this particular board?

Motherboard is Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z.

A heat gun is very strong. That's why we always use the blow dryer. Takes a bit more time but works.

The only thing that I can think of is on page 23 of your manual under System Panel Header. Looking closely, the led for the power and for the hdd usage need to be plugged in horizontally while the connections for the power and reset buttons need to be plugged in vertically.

I am trying to instal Windows 7 Professional (MS upgrade disc) on an elderly (2002) machine which has an MSI-6585 (aka 648 Max) motherboard. It has 2Gb RAM, Seagate 250Gb hard drive and nVidia 7800GS graphics card. The current OS is XP SP3.

The system passes the Windows Upgrade Advisor tests with no problems.

Having read somewhere that the board is unable to recognise the boot sector of the Win 7 DVD, I followed the suggestion to create a new DVD using the boot sector of a Vista DVD - but all to no avail.

MSI says simply that the motherboard is too old for Windows 7. Maybe I shall have to accept this, but I should be interested to hear of others experiences with this board, which I think was quite common at one time.

Try running the DVD from the XP desktop, if it will run then overwrite XP or install to a second partition.

What are the exact errors or symptoms you get when you try to boot the DVD and Custom install with formatting?

Try tapping the Fkey given on the first bootup screen for Boot Menu. Or use the Fkey to enter
BIOS setup and set DVD drive to boot first.

Hello, I have recently got a new motherboard and switched it out with my old motherboard. My old mother board was a ASUS board (Can't remember the model) and I upgraded to Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P. When I turned my computer on for the first time with the new motherboard, for some odd reason the Disk catagory in Task Manager is always at 100% with just 0.1MB/s used. I have updated my computer and everything works fine except that. I've done all types of ways to fix it, but it doesn't seem to work.

Can someone please help me?

Power Supply: Corsair 600 Wat
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 3.4GHz

I'm looking at upgrading a few components in my system, mainly the motheboard, memory (type and amount) and video card. Given that I already have a system with XP installed and it's configured for my current system, will XP boot up after I insert the new components? If not, is there any easy way to reconfigure XP (drivers, PnP detection, etc) with the new components?

In short, I'd prefer NOT to have to reinstall XP but if left with nothing else, then I guess that'll have to happen.

One more thing ... should I reinstall the operating system (XP Home) after reinstalling the motherboard? The hardware should be identical but you never know right? Maybe I'll just wing it and see how it goes.

I just installed a new motherboard in my mother's computer, it was identical to her old one which somehow got fried. Now the tower won't come on. I'm pretty sure I've connected everything correctly, and there is a tiny green light coming on on the motherboard itself. If you press the test switch the CPU fan comes on, but nothing is happening! What have I done wrong? Have I missed something pretty common? Please help, my mom is going in to ebay withdrawal.

So I know this computer has a bad motherboard from overheating. I get these PCI errors when the BIOS boots. I will list those next. Right now I'm trying to repair the VISTA installation that is on this thing so I can boot into the OS. It was just loading some and then blue screening so I put the install CD in and am tried to repair it to no avail. Here are the problem details from Microsoft's Startup Repair App:

I saw this on google on another forum for the same exact model and some guy just jumped out and said the mobo was bad, but that was never backed with any scientific data.

Not sure what is PCI slot 03, but I booted without the battery, hd, and cd drive. Still got it.

A:No sound in Windows XP after installation of new motherboard

Quote:

so you are getting sound or not? confusing

Anyway, the obvious first step would be to install your sound drivers. It is entirely possible that they replaced your motherboard with a similar model, but one that is not quite the same since the 9150 is no longer sold by Dell.

If I were you I would skip on over to http://support.dell.com and download them from there.

It is possible that this is not the problem, they may have thrown in the exact same model motherboard as you had before. In that case, I would check in your device manager for a device that is not installed correctly. If you need help finding this just let us know.

Alright, I installed a new motherboard in my PC last night. It is a ASUS. Not sure of the exact model right off hand, but it fits a Pentium Celeron D 3.06 478-pin CPU. I got everything installed and plugged in, and I turned the power on. I was able to go into the BIOS menu, but when I tried to start up windows, I got a blue error screen. It read something about “could be a virus, or a contaminated hard drive”. The error code I was given was “***Stop: 0x0000007B (0xF8951528, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)”

What have a done. I am very worried that I have damaged my hard drive, I have many irreplaceable files on there. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you so much for the time and effort!

Hello guys and girls,

I had asked a similar question before, however that time I ended up performing a clean installation, this time I have way too much software that relies heavily on configuration that took me a while to get right, and I would like if there was an option to keep my operating system as is and swap the motherboard/cpu, they will be a different chipset/socket so I can't just do something simple as swapping it.

I remember there was a method with sysprep.
And there is also the system image, however I don't know if it would be highly advisable to do either of those methods, or just suck it up and go through the whole configurations all over again once I perform the clean install.

Any ideas would be highly appreciated.

A:Exchanging Motherboard/CPU, exact same installation kept.

If it's a Retail copy, then we can go ahead with figuring this out. If it's OEM, then we can't.

Anyway, sometimes you can do this without any problems and sometimes you can't. So, I recommend at least preparing to format and start over just in case.

In the meantime, there may be ways to back up all of your configurations so that you can format, start over, install the software, reapply the configurations somehow, and be back up and running with no problem. A simple example is Firefox: all I have to do is copy/paste the contents of the default profile folder to a safe place, format and start over, install Firefox, open Firefox, close Firefox, and then copy/paste those contents into the new default profile folder. Then when I open Firefox, everything is back to the way it was, including all of my Extensions. The only exceptions are the Plugins because those need to be installed into Windows.

Having first experience building a computer and am having issues with connecting the cases front panel cables to the mother board. Not sure which header to use. There seems to be an incompatibility between the headers available and the cable connectors. The pin requirements and available pins. The instructions are not much help. They show 2 pins for a 3 pin connector. Also not sure where to plug in the cable marked “speaker” which is a 4 pin connector with only 2 wires on the outside positions. Instructions show a 3 pin connector. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A:EV3A nForce 580 motherboard installation

It should show where to plug the speaker cable in the manual.
Quite often the wires are at each end of a four pin plug.
If the manual requires a different position the wires can be moved on the plug.
On the back of the plug you should see four plastic flaps, take a pin and carefully lift the flap and withdraw the cable.
You can now reposition to suit manual

Help!!!
I have just installed a SHUTTLE SPACEWALKER HOT-661 MOTHERBOARD and powered it up. The computer starts up but my screen does not. The LED light on my screen flashes but I get no image on the screen. The Motherboard supposed to have been tested and working OK (bought from ebay) but didn't come with an installation manual. I do however have the motherboard CD. I'm not a computer expert but have dabbled a bit and have built a previous computer which worked fine. I'm not sure if it has something to do with the jumpers? If thats the case I haven't got a clue. Can someone help.

A:Shuttle Spacewalker Hot-661 Motherboard Installation

I would start by going to Shuttle's website and finding the manual for it to make sure all the jumpers are set right; ie. Clear CMOS, FSB, etc. The slot the memory is in might also matter.

If they are then pull the motherbaord out of the case and connect only the powersupply, 1 stick of RAM, the video card, and the CPU with heatsink and try powering it up. If not you'll have to find parts to swap in or to swap into to test each part individually.

A:Upgrading my motherboard, with a fresh Vista installation

The computer wouldn't necessarily begin to install Vista on it's own, you might have to go into the BIOS and set it to boot from the DVD drive first.

Also, on my Gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H motherboard, it says my revision directly on the motherboard itself, up in one of the corners. It's kind of hard to see at first, but it's there.

I own a Dell Inspiron 7000 PII processor. There is something clearly wrong with the motherboard and I need to replace it. Since I just got a new computer I'm interested in doing this my self. However, I have never done this type of work on a computer. Is there any place I can go to get a manual to repairing/replacing the motherboard? Is there any soddering involved for this type of laptop (it seems like most parts are snapped/clipped or scewed in)? any info/insight would be helpful.

A:how to boot windows xp without clean installation after motherboard replacement

Hi

You can do a repair install which will preserve all installed programs and data. Please watch the below video tutorial for step by step instructions.

Since there is a slight chance for the repair install to fail, i highly recommend creating a backup image of C partition before starting the install. I would recommend Marium Reflect Free which will allow to make either Linux or WinPE based boot disc. You can use this disc to boot the target machine and then backup the current installation.

I've decided to do a clean install after saving my files.
I've tried accessing my files from a quick win xp install on another hard drive, but I can't see the raid array (not even in the disk manager). Is there something I should do?
I hope I didn't lose all my personal files - I used RAID 5 for back-up so wouldn't understand if it's causing me problems now...
