Secure Browsing And Internet Service

Q: Secure Browsing And Internet Service

So here's my first post. Been working on a computer, was mega infected with all sorts of lovelies. Ran AVG, AVG Antispyware, Adaware 2007, Avira Antivir, and Kaspersky internet security on it. Seems clean now, however, there are 2 programs in add/remove that will not uninstall. Pretty sure they are malware or something of the sort, as a lot of the infected compy's I work on have these items in add/remove. The name of the programs are "Internet Service" and "Secure Browsing". When you hit change/remove, it pops up a box saying "You should reboot prior to uninstalling this software. Reboot now?" with an OK or cancel button. Hitting cancel takes you back to add/remove, OK reboots. Even after reboot, hitting change/remove pops up the same box. Tried Google, but those two phrases are common enough that I can't find anything. Any help would be much appreciated.

Preferred Solution: Secure Browsing And Internet Service

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

hello and welcome to bleepingcomputerIf you really want to delete the program you can always use registry editor to do that:start>run>regeditclick HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\uninstallfind that program you want to delete and right click it and select delete. Now you should create a system restore point.please read the tutorial here: system restore tutorial

I was just wondering what are good add-ons for secure internet browsing? I'am currently using firefox, and have NoScript, Adblock Plus, and WOT as the main add-ons.

Is there any more additions that i could use? I was thinking of getting mcafee site advisor but heard that it slows ur internet down, and is not really reliable. What are u guys out there using for safe internet browsing?

Thx!

A:Secure internet browsing

IE8 has a really cool feature in the URL bar where it highlights the domain to prevent phishing. An addon called Locationbar2 does this in Firefox.

Hi, I have Internet Explorer 8 and ever since I moved to another house and restarted my computer, it seems, suddenly when I go to put in a website address in my browser, it changes it from http:// to https://

I looked on google and it seems that it has something to do with secure browsing, but its a pain in the neck for me, and makes it where it doesnt end up on the site I want it to go to, and instead I just get a "page not found".

Can anyone please tell me how to stop it from doing this?

How can i solve this problem and any help?

A:Secure Browsing Shortcut

Unless you really need that pendrive or it was very expensive why not just buy a new one and get rid of the infected one as you'll never know 100% you totally cleaned it

Hello,

Can anyone help? I have a problem browsing secure (SSL) websites. The links don't register at all once the padlock icon is displayed . Any ideas what may be causing this? I'm on XP and my browser is IE6. Don't think I have SP2 installed. I'm on a dial-up connection (Sloooooow). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

A:Problem Browsing Secure Sites

First of all welcome to Bleepingcomputer Perhaps this will help. Please try the following: Click the Refresh button, or try again later. If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is spelled correctly. To check your connection settings, click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options. On the Connections tab, click Settings. The settings should match those provided by your local area network (LAN) administrator or Internet service provider (ISP). If your Network Administrator has enabled it, Microsoft Windows can examine your network and automatically discover network connection settings. If you would like Windows to try and discover them, click Detect Network Settings Some sites require 128-bit connection security. Click the Help menu and then click About Internet Explorer to determine what strength security you have installed. If you are trying to reach a secure site, make sure your Security settings can support it. Click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options. On the Advanced tab, scroll to the Security section and check settings for SSL 2.0, SSL 3.0, TLS 1.0, PCT 1.0. Click the Back button to try another link.

How-To Secure Your Browsing Session Before Hitting Starbucks!.

Starting today, Starbucks offers free Wi-Fi across US and Canadian cities. Free Wi-Fi hotspots have become a common method for connecting to the internet and sharing information, often private information.

Such hotspots attract the unwanted attention of hackers and others who are interested in capturing the information being shared on the hotspot.

I'm not sure where to ask this, so please move to the correct place if needed. I'm curious as to the security of Gmail. I have the extension McAfee SECURE Safe Browsing from the Chrome Store, and when checking it on Gmail it shows No SSL. Why is that? I checked other email providers like Outlook and Yahoo, and both show Valid SSL. Can someone please explain this? Here are two examples. Gmail shows No SSL, and Yahoo shows Valid SSL. Is Gmail not as safe/secure? Why do some show Valid SSL and some do not even though they both start the same with HTTPS?

EDIT on findings: I've done some other checks on other Google pages, and they show Valid SSL (Checked Google+ and Google search). It seems only Gmail shows No SSL.

I have a HP ENVY m7-010dx that died last night.  Upon power up nothing happens except a continuous slow blinking light on the cap locks key.  I went through their online troubleshooting help section and it looks like it is a hardware issue and will be going in for warranty service.  The big problem I have is that the hard drive has lots of sensitive personal information on it that I believe a good tech could copy and fairly easily decipher.

So what can I do?  I have never removed an internal hard drive and accessed it as an external drive.  I really need to wipe all personal info before returning for warranty service.

Any ideas?

Thanks

A:How to Secure Hard Drive Before Warranty Service

DVDs?  USB flash drive?

How much personal info are you talking about?

Since most of us don't have that much (IMO) personal info on a system...either of the above should do.  Simply copy the data to new media and then delete it from your hard drive before sending.

Has anyone seen this before?
In the Add/Remove Programs list on this computer, there is an item named "Secure Browsing." I think it might be related to a bogus spyware toolbar that's been installed into IE6 on this machine. When I click the Remove button, I get a message saying "You may want to reboot your machine prior to removing this. OK/Cancel"
If I click OK, the machine reboots. Cancel does nothing except close the alert window. After rebooting, the same thing happens when I tru again to uninstall.
The icon next to the item is the same icon as an installer (Windows Installer, for example).
Does anyone know what this item is? Or, how to remove it?
Thanks,
Alex

I have a laptop that I take to work, and would like to set things up to use my home internet connection from elsewhere. I don't have another computer to function as a server for me at home, so would like to do it so that my router alone provides this access (log into it from the internet anywhere and use my internet as if I am using it from home).

How would I go about doing this? Would it require installing new firmware, or how can I tell my router that I would like to access it like this?

I have a router with remote access capabilities as well as a bridging mode (and I have another older router).

Many thanks!

A:suspected malware- internet browsing almost impossible although connected to the internet

Using more than one anti-virus program is not advisable. The primary concern with doing so is due to conflicts that can arise when they are running in real-time mode simultaneously and issues with Windows resource management. Even when one of them is disabled for use as a stand-alone scanner, it can affect the other. Anti-virus software components insert themselves into the operating systems core and using more than one can cause instability, crash your computer, slow performance and waste system resources. When actively running in the background while connected to the Internet, they both may try to update their definition databases at the same time. As the programs compete for resources required to download the necessary files this often can result in sluggish system performance or unresponsive behavior. Each anti-virus may interpret the activity of the other as malicious behavior and there is a greater chance of them alerting you to a "False Positive". If one finds a virus or a suspicious file and then the other also finds the same, both programs will be competing over exclusive rights on dealing with that virus or suspicious file. Each anti-virus may attempt to remove the offending file and quarantine it at the same time resulting in a resource management issue as to which program gets permission to act first. If one anit-virus finds and quarantines the file before the other one does, then you encounter the problem of both wanting to scan each other's zipped or archived files and each reporting the other's quarantined contents. This can lead to a repetitive cycle of endless alerts that continually warn you that a virus has been found when that is not the case. Anti-virus scanners use virus definitions to check for malware and these can include a fragment of the virus code which may be recognized by other anti-virus programs as the virus itself. Because of this, most anti-virus programs encrypt their definitions so that they do not trigger a false alarm when scanned by other security programs. Other vendors do not encrypt their definitions and they can trigger false alarms when detected by the resident anti-virus. Further, dual installation is not always possible because most of the newer anti-virus programs will detect the presence of others and may insist they be removed prior to download and installation of another. Nonetheless, to avoid these problems, use only one anti-virus solution. Deciding which one to remove is your choice. Be aware that you may lose your subscription to that anti-virus program's virus definitions once you uninstall that software. Anti-virus vendors recommend that you install and run only one anti-virus program at a timeSymantec's statement.Avast's statement.AVG's statement.Dell Support statement.Try resetting Internet Explorer. A:Watching Someone Else's Live Internet Browsing, After Using Their Internet Connection ?

I'd be more concerned about the other folks out there, not necessarily your nephew. My brother who is a real security whiz told me never to get wireless. He said that while it is convenient for the user, it makes it really easy for the "big bad wolves." There are ways of making wireless connections more secure, but I am unfamiliar with them. Here are links to some articles that discuss wireless security:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wireless_securityDiscusses some of the security problems with wirelesshttp://techdir.rutgers.edu/wireless.htmlThis is an article from Rutgers University that discusses what can happen with an unsecure wireless hook-up and some means to secure it. There are also links to other articles about wireless security.http://csrc.nist.gov/publications/nistpubs...T_SP_800-48.pdfThis one is a PDF file and is 1 MB. I haven't had a chance to read it yet as it is still downloading to my computer.http://compnetworking.about.com/od/wireles...ifisecurity.htmThis article discusses means to make your wireless connection or network more secure. Just today, I encountered a weird bug.

I have a proper internet connection, but suddenly, all my internet browsers will fail to load any webpage.

Whenever I click on any link or type into the search bar, nothing happens.

This occurs for all browsers. ( Firefox, Chrome, IE )

I tried the ping command using cmd, it worked. That adds on to the mystery..

I normally use the same browser [ Firefox or now Microsoft Edge ] and run the Super Anti Spyware program every few weeks.
The program will usually find 4 or 5 items to be deleted as adware or tracking cookies.
But today, just this one day, I decided to use Internet Explorer 11 and afterwards ran the Super Anti Spyware program and the results were "250 items found" !
Why would that be? Is IE 11 no longer safe to use?

A:Internet Explorer not secure?

I doubt you'll find any reliable source which would say that one browser is more safe than the other.
Maybe, maybe 10 years ago but not now.
Today's computing is simply much m ore dangerous than it was 10 years ago.
You must be super careful.
Do you have a log from Super?

Hello,

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Using Windows XP, I'm getting pop-ups in Mozilla Firefox - the two main offenders being http://www.spyware-secure and the 'em pc internet' one. I've read some of the other threads re these but am unsure as to whether it is a specific problem which requires a specific solution or a generic problem which can just be solved with software.

I ran a Hijack This log as suggested in the 'Read This' notes, and have included it below (if I understand the directions to attach files correctly). Any suggestions or solutions would be gratefully received.

Thanks again for your time.

Cheers,

I am a visitor at several companies whom provide me with a wired LAN connection.

Here is what I want to do:

Securely connect without their knowledge, either encrypt or hide my internet traffic. Why?

Simply I perform audits on these companies which may affect future business.
My company IT/admin only suggest using the supplied cellular air cards, which does not work.

I only need access to internet explorer for our company database, which does not run in any other browsers.

Currently email is encrypted
Use trucrpyt to secure files
Superantivirus spyware, pcTOOLS, windows firewall set to no exceptions, all file/network sharing disabled.
IE 8 set to inprivate browsing
Update vista
Im running W7 in virtual box don't know if this helps

Im sure this is done for security between other compaines,

Can anyone help?

Hello all, I have a job where I need to access the internet over a secure connection. I use too much bandwidth for mobile broadband to be a viable option (about 30 gigs a month travelling).

Is there anyway to access the internet through a public wifi hotspot, routed through my home internet? The information I am handling is anything but sensitive (I mean, not even close at all. Let's just say I fill in rudimentary measurement data for flooring with no names or companies ever included, at all.). But my employer is a bit OCC and requires us to have a secure connection.

In other words, I'm not so much worried about a secure connection as I am appeasing my boss with a secure connection so I can do more work while on the road.

Any help would be fantastic.

Ok, I am a complete computer idiot, so if you have some suggestions, please talk down to me.

Here is the problem, we have wireless internet here in our house. We want to be able to secure it. We did not choose this option when we set it up several years ago. How do I change it now?

We have a Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router. I can't find the software anywhere on the computer to change the settings. Any suggestions on that?

Thank you!!

A:I need to secure my wireless internet

Your router has a Web Based Interface to configure it. You can open up Internet Explorer and type the IP address of the router into the Address box. From here you will need to know what the username and password is for the router. If you don't know, it can be set to back to the factory defaults by a small reset button on the back of the router.

You can download the manual for your router from Linksys' website. It will show you how to do all this stuff.

what internet browser is secure and good?

A:what internet browser is secure and good?

You'll need to define "secure" and "good" for this question to be answered appropriately, but if by "secure" you mean "keeping your info safe" I would say Firefox. You can set it up so that when you close it, it removes all of your history, cookies, cache, etc. instantly.

If "good" means "stable" then FireFox is also your answer. Keep IE for losers who write crappy incompatible web sites, but for everyday use, well, you know my answer.

Hi.
I recently installed Win 7 64bit, and the OS seems to have installed my internet connection which is obviously working fine.
Going through the Control Center I found the Network and Sharing Center and looked check my Internet security. I have a Belkin Router and under XP set this up with passwords and other information to make sure my connection was as secure as I could make it.

Using Belkin I was able to view my own and local networks.

Now I have no information at all as to the security of my connections .

Do I have a secure setup and where I can I check this? Or should I install the Belkin program and use this instead?

A:Win 7 Auto setup internet, is it secure?

Hi Trapper,

Your internet connection is only as secure as your settings. If your Belkin has NAT, you will be OK with Windows Firewall, if not, install a software FW.

I want to set up security on my network. I want it so only certain computers can access the internet. I only have two computers, one desktop and one laptop, to connect. I have a linksys wireless router that is connected to a cable modem. The only security that i can find is on the router but it only secures wireless access. This is good, but the router just needs to be reset or unplugged and anyone can access the internet again. So what I need is a way to restrict access through both wireless and ethernet and not be able to disable it by just pushing reset.

Hi all,

I am connected to the Internet through a router and I just learned how to properly configure Remote Desktop and port forwarding so that I can access my computer from outside over IP. However, and since I have a small home network, this causes me some doubts in what concerns both the security of the information being transmited over the Internet and the internal security of my LAN. Is it really safe to use Remote Desktop through IP? What encryption protocols/algorithms are used? And how much are other computers in my LAN protected?

Thank you very much!

Depends on the remote desktop client and configuration. I would use one that is encrypted (my choice is team viewer) and check the ports and protocols forwarded carefully (there are guides -- just google it)

Hi,

So, I need to protect my computer, had no luck with ESET not working and Panda causing BSOD's, so I'm now evaluating other options for a comprehensive protection (antivirus, antimalware, would be nice to protect banking, web browser and have a firewall) that I have offers to get quite cheap from my local vendors. Since there's no general topic, I'll ask on the subforums of the possible options. So, how good is F-Secure Internet Security? How good are their labs and engineers? Are the lab tests really that good?

I see they are one of the choices that use bitdefender's engine? Is there a special reason they do that and why would then someone rather use F-Secure instead of BitDefender? Is there a special reason they don't develop their own engine?

Any advice would be nice... Thank you.

I have a new computer with Vista and I am using Internet Explorer. My old computer (Win2000) shows a secure (encrypted) internet connection by displaying a "Lock" symbol in the status bar when visiting a secure site. My new computer does not show the "Lock" symbol. It just says "Internet Protected Mode On". I would like to see the "Lock" symbol.

Anyone know how to turn this feature ON in Vista or what I have to do to get the "Lock" symbol to display when the site is secure?

TIA

Dellco

A:Internet Secure Lock Symbol

Vista puts the "Secure Lock" symbol at the top of the screen (to the right of the address box) instead of on the status bar. I've just been looking in the wrong place. When you see the Lock, it signifies a secure (encrypted) connection. But just to be sure, before entering anything like passwords, credit card numbers, etc., click on the lock. It will verify who the site is. If it isn't who it is supposed to be, then close the internet connection and try again.

Happy New Year everyone Currently I have my computer connected to the internet via cable modem My mother-in-law just got a new crappy Acer laptop for Christmas and she wants to hook her computer and her granddaughter s computer to the internet via my cable modem internet connection My first thought is HELL no Neither of you know nothing about computers nor the internet and if I share my connection with you I will have viruses galore because of the mother-in-law and probable complaints from ISP provider because of the granddaughter going on illegal sites and downloading illegal secure most share method? internet material So I was most secure share internet method? thinking what can I do to solve this problem I googled around on internet sharing and from what I searched it seems like sharing a broadband connection using a Linux router in the most secure safest and overall best way to solve my problem You see I want to be in complete control of everything Now I will tell you what I m thinking and you all can point me in the right direction advice I have my laptop and a desktop that I don t use So I can use that as the Linux router I use Windows XP Pro on my laptop by the way But I was thinking most secure share internet method? that I would keep my computer as the main computer and assign my mother-in-law and her granddaughter two separate accounts that I can control completely I want to be able to monitor visually and at times restrict everything they do so they won t mess up their computers I plan on assigning them limited accounts so they will NOT be able to mess up my the entire network but I don t want them messing up their computers either because that means that I will be the one that has to fix it So my question s to you all are - How should I go about doing this I am thinking about taking the advice of how I should set my computer from you all here to my local computer store with SPECIFIC instructions on what to do to my computers so that it is totally secure and I have complete control over everything - For the hardware that I don t have but will need to purchase in setting everything up can you all recommend the best hardware available price isn t a concern really As far as I know I will need to purchase a switch hub or whatever that is and some network cards and cables I could just purchase what I need at the computer store here but I have learned from experience that the best hardware is purchased online based off of experienced users recommendations because at the store they usually just sell whatever Anything else I need to be aware of or buy or read more on Thanks and again happy new year nbsp

i have been having loads of problems with my pc and recently bought a new h/d and did a claen instal of XP Pro.
To protect myself i have installed F-Secure Internet Security 2004.
Is this adequate protection, (assuming i keep it upto date and running!)?
I previviously was using AVG and Adaware (free version), but got infected by psyme. This did not appear to protect me.
I am coparitively niave about the internet and would welcome any comments or advice.

Cheers!

Installation took around 15 mins. It rebooted the pc automatically after installation.

This is the main GUI. Neat and simple.
It has more than 10 processes running.
BTW, its updating now.
While quick scan, its eating up around 50-60 MB RAM. That's huge IMO.
The quick scan was really quick and took around 3-5 mins.
Easy customize settings.

Amazing on-access protection.

Overall a good product.

F Secure will work fine with diskeeper. What was your prior anti virus program? The error that you are describing is from remnants of a prior antivirus, etc type program.

I just got a brand new PC with Windows XP installed on it and nothing else. I have installed DirectX 9.0c (I think, it took a fraction of a second to do on a 750k connection, is that normal?) and when I browse, I get problems. When scrolling down, it is very laggy, it does not move in a fluid movement and a line makes it's way down the screen as it updates what is being shown, can anyone tell me why this is and how to fix it please?

A:Browsing the internet

750k is not as fast as you'd think. I don't think the DirectX install has anything to do with your slow loading. What kind of connection do you have? Was it fast before installing the DirectX? What website are you trying to view? Does this lag happen on all websites?

Hi I am back again with the same problem I had with signing onto the internet and finding my chosen search engine Yahoo over written with a res: thingy.

I don't have time right now to do what I am supposed to .....use Hijack this and post here but I plan to within the next day or two as my home computer is the one with this problem...it is much worse this time.

In the meantime I was wondering if someone could tell me if there is a program that will prevent this....I have McAfee on my laptop and was wondering if I should get it for my Dell at home?

Hi,

The only way you can get a work around is to download another browser. Until it's fixed, it stays with you. If you can get a HJT log posted up sooner rather than later, then we can get you sorted out.

I use a little program called Spider. http://www.webattack.com/Freeware/security/fwcookie.shtml

It has some limitations as do most. Short of using DOS to target files for deletion, which can be dangerous if you are not careful, Spider does a good job. Run Spider from the default desktop and allow it to do its job via restarting when asked, then rerun Spider to see if it missed something.

Note: Delete you Temp internet files, History and cookies manually before running Spider.

My Two Cents!

Have you tried looking into any rules that may have been made in your firewall/security programs for IE, or temporary disabling the firewall?
Check your connection settings for connecting to the internet too.

Hey guys, first of all please excuse my poor english. I am a programmer with little knowledge of computer networking in need of a solution ASAP.
I want to have connections to two networks in one system. one connection for internet and another to an intranet. but there is a security problem. the intranet network has sensitive information on it and only users with specific IP address can use it. people in intranet network believe that having both internet and their intranet connection in one system, exposes the intranet to the hackers. how can i secure the intranet when system is connected to the internet. because of the limited resources i prefer software solutions. please show me the right direction.
thanks a lot

A:how to secure an intranet network from internet intrusion?

Start with a default deny on both interfaces, then add allow rules for the traffic (source IP, dest port, inbound interface) that you want.

I just recently removed the Lovsan virus from my computer and ever since, I've been having trouble opening internet secure pages with my web browser. Perhaps these two problems are unrelated, but I'm not sure. Pages such as ebay user login sites begin to open, then stop and display an internet explorer error. I don't believe it is a problem with my security settings, but maybe it is. The settings are currently at default, and after playing around with the levels, I am fairly convinced that that is not the problem, but any help would be great. . .

A:trouble opening internet secure pages

Go to http://tomcoyote.org/hjt/ and download HiJackThis. Use Winzip to unzip it, then install and run it. When it's done the "Scan" button changes to "Save Log". Save the log file it creates (it should open in Notepad at that point). Copy and paste the results in your next post. Most of what it finds is harmless, so do not do anything yet. Someone will be glad to help you sort out any of the baddies that may be in there.

Here's the scenario. I have a friend/client who has just set up two wireless networks at his office. He recently decided to open another small business in the same space downstairs. He wants the two networks to be separate, both secure.

My question is, if network one is secured and has the internet access, is it possible to grant internet access to network two without giving them access to the network one?

Thanks,

Hi I m working on some source code and my a will be grass if a hacker or someone source while secure Internet keeping How code to obtains it The PC could be offline but often I need to find coding solutions online so I How to secure source code while keeping Internet would need to copy amp paste such code text to the secure offline PC I m stumped how to achieve that in a hack proof manner except with a thumb drive That is use the online PC to find the code copy How to secure source code while keeping Internet text to thumb drive move drive offline PC but that sounds like a big pain Another option is to use software that runs How to secure source code while keeping Internet two simultaneous OS s that allows text to be copied between them but how hack proof is that Maybe encrypting the secure PC drive Any ideas would be greatly appreciated Paul Edit Ah ha is this the solution a unidirectional network via some hardware I think the data line needs to be controlled by hardware to be as secure as possible If anyone could post or send me a PM recommending any hardware then I ll greatly appreciate Regards Paul nbsp

A:How to secure source code while keeping Internet

hmm; taking the issues from the top:

1) you need to ensure that code on your PC never leaves its.

2) if it does, you are exposed ( I assume from your employer )

3) you want to copy paste code from the Internet into 'your code' safely
I'll start with (3). Code from the Internet may expose you to copyright infringement and thus your employer could be sued - -
I've seen this happen personally and it is ugly.
You lose your job, your friends lose jobs, and the employer can actually go bankrupt.
summary: not worth the risk

(2) Working at home on software that belongs to your employer is a real nightmare,
not only from (3) but you might become a mule for some trojan infection when that code is returned to the project libraries.
If that occurs, the date/time of your checkin of the new code will correspond to the time of the virus and tag, you're it.

(1) the only way to ensure that something never leaves the PC {better said is not useful if it leaves},
is to
a) go offlineb) encrypt it for protection, perhaps even altering the file namec) go online and browse, fetch what you will
d) go back offlinee) decrypt the code in question
f) modify said code and prepare it for transport back to the project libraries.summary: only access that code while offline

REPEAT: not worth the risk

I just did a fresh reinstall of Windows XP and when I try to open a https:// url it loads for a really long time, then displays "Internet explorer cannot display the webpage".
I have tried several solutions found in Google, including, but not limited to this, this and this.
Since it's a fresh installation I don't see a point in using system restore. I run IE 8.0.6001.18702.
I have installed all the dirvers I can think of and scanned for missing drivers via SlimDrivers.

A:ActionTec MI424WR Verizon FIOS & Secure IMAP & Secure POP3

DMZ does indeed expose the computer directly to the outside world, that's why it's called the DMZ!

Do you have residential or commercial FiOS? There are blocked ports for the residential service.

Hello. I'm on my girlfriend's laptop and she is having a problem where the computer will give a BSOD while browsing the internet. She has told me that it never happens when she isn't connected to the internet. It often happens while streaming videos on Youtube or Netflix but I'm not sure if that is the cause, because I actually got a BSOD while writing my post out just now.

I had her install SlimDrivers and she updated about 10-20 drivers. She says the BSOD's occur less often but they still happen enough that they are a major pain. The laptop isn't overheating, and I've tried everything I could think of.

EDIT: When it happened just now, It had the error code x0000003B. Don't know if that is always the error or just this time.

Is there anyway to retrieve the browsing history once it has been deleted, any help would be appreciated,
I'm using an Acer with windows vista basic.
My regards,

A:internet browsing history.

Kid's get all flustered with privacy issues. They feel that they deserve privacy - but they don't respect the parents privacy.

Do you search their rooms?
Do you monitor their phone calls?
Do you eavesdrop on them when they're with their friends?

If not, then I'd have to ask "Why do it when they're online?"

If you still want to do it, it's rather simple:
- Put a password on the system that only you know.
- Tell them that deleting the browser history will result in the loss of computer privileges
- Enforce that rule.

My wife and I had a long discussion about this - and we decided that we didn't want to spy on them. But, to protect them, we used "Net Nanny" type software (I setup custom settings using We-Blocker). They were still able to get around some of the restrictions - but that was minor compared to what they were trying to do before we put the restrictions on.

As they grew older we loosened the restrictions - and now the only restriction is....If my network is attacked/abused (P2P), they are cut off without notice. And that's only happened twice in the last couple of years.

Several problems

Please remove any CD virtualization programs such as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%.

They use a driver, found in your dmp, sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs.

Use this SPTD uninstaller DuplexSecure - Downloads

when you're done you can use this Freeware MagicISO Virtual CD/DVD-ROM(MagicDisc) in its place. MagicISO - Convert BIN to ISO, Create, Edit, Burn, Extract ISO file, ISO/BIN converter/extractor/editor

Old drivers needing updating

Code:

How To Find Drivers:

Quote:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

- - The most common drivers are listed on this page: Driver Reference Driver Reference
- - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: Drivers and Downloads

These were cased by your video driver, card, etc. Please re-install the driver using this

When upgrading your graphic driver you MUST remove all traces of the current driver. In order to do that we recommend using Guru3D - Driver Sweeper

Or Phyxion.net - Driver Sweeper

When it is removed then download and install the fresh copy.

I am having the same problem with 2 separate computer in different offices...involving the inability to browse with IE.
I am able to release and renew the IP address as well as being able to ping various websites, but when I start IE, it just does not connect to any sites. I've run Symantec Antivirus, Malwarebytes, Ad-Aware and Spybot with the System Restore Off and issues have been found and removed, but still not able to browse with IE. I suspect some type of hosts redirection, but I check the hosts file and there a no entries other that the 127.0.0.1 for localhost.
Any suggestions would be appreciated?

A:Trouble Browsing the Internet

What OS are you using? Be sure to disable Spybot's Teatimer function:-------------------------------Please download Dr.Web CureIt & save it to your desktop. DO NOT perform a scan yet.Reboot your computer in "Safe Mode" using the F8 method. To do this, restart your computer and after hearing your computer beep once during startup (but before the Windows icon appears) press the F8 key repeatedly. A menu will appear with several options. Use the arrow keys to navigate and select the option to run Windows in "Safe Mode".Scan with Dr.Web CureIt as follows:Double-click on launch.exe to open the program and click Start. (There is no need to update if you just downloaded the most current versionRead the Virus check by DrWeb scanner prompt and click Ok where asked to Start scan now? Allow the setup.exe to load if asked by any of your security programs. The Express scan will automatically begin.
(This is a short scan of files currently running in memory, boot sectors, and targeted folders). If prompted to dowload the Full version Free Trial, ignore and click the X to close the window. If an infected object is found, you will be prompted to move anything that cannot be cured. Click Yes to All.When complete, click Select All, then choose Cure > Move incurable.
(This will move any detected files to the C:\Documents and Settings\userprofile\DoctorWeb\Quarantine folder if they can't be cured)Now put a check next to Complete scan to scan all local disks and removable media. In the top menu, click Settings > Change settings, and UNcheck "Heuristic analysis" under the "Scanning" tab, then click Ok.Back at the main window, click the green arrow "Start Scanning" button on the right under the Dr.Web logo. When the scan is complete, a message will be displayed at the bottom indicating if any viruses were found.Click "Yes to all" if asked to cure or move the file(s) and select "Move incurable".In the top menu, click file and choose save report list.Save the DrWeb.csv report to your desktop.Exit Dr.Web Cureit when done.Important! Reboot your computer because it could be possible that files in use will be moved/deleted during reboot. After reboot, post the contents of the log from Dr.Web in your next reply.
