I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Smartphone processor comparison

Definitely the Exynos 5260, no question about it! It is really a 6 core CPU since it uses the 4 Cortex A7 CPUs to process regular loads and it taps into the 2 A15 CPUs when it needs extra power.

hey all what i m wondering about at the moment is a conflict between two processors I m on a budget and have found two decent looking processors and whilst i m a PC enthusiast i ve never put one together before and am still getting to grips with some of the specs I m a gamer and so that s what the system is being built for I ve decided to opt for AMD s athlon x due to the fact which better? I have two computers and am curious regarding their expected relative performance.

#1 - AMD Athlon 64 X dual core 5000+ 2.6 GHz, 2 GB memory running Vista Home Premiun

#2 - AMD Sempron LE 1250 2.19 GHz, 1GB memory running Win XP Prof.

I expect better performance with Computer #1, but how much better?

I use the computers for Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Paint Shop Pro, Email and Web browsing.

I just ran Fresh Diagnosis' Processor Benchmark test and got a pretty close comparison of the two: #1 = 9839 MDIPS, #2 = 9521 MDIPS.

Can anyone provide some details on the differences?

A:AMD processor comparison

Just tested a third computer.

#3 - AMD Athlon 3200+ 2.19 GHz, ! GB RAM, Win XP Home
Fresh Diagnosis' Processor Benchmark test = 6577 MDIPS.

What could account for the wide difference between this and the other two? Cany anyone suggest another speed test?

Hello:

I'm thinking about ordering a new machine from Dell to be used as a workstation computer for high end 3d computer graphics and rendering.

I don't know much about the Intel XEON processors, but I was wondering if this community has any input as to what kind of processor I should get.

I would like to know if I should go with a 3.6 XEON or a 2.8 Dual Core XEON. I have also heard that all XEONs will be dual core soon, and I was wondering if maybe I should just hold out a bit longer for that. Can anyone confirm that?

Thanks.

I am confused to decide which is better Samsung galaxy s4 or htc one or iphone 5 or xperia z

things want to consider first thing battery backup, then resolution then camera of course which has the best look

read several reviews and so confused please help

A:Which is the best smartphone to buy?

The Galaxy S4 is basically equivalent to the HTC One. The HTC One though, has a better camera and has an aluminum shell. The S4 has a more mediocre camera and a plastic shell (cheaper build quality). They both have basically the same screen. I own an iPhone 5 and love it. The OS is just becoming stale though, and Android (on the S4 and HTC One) is more for power users. iOS (iPhone) is geared more toward rookies who dont know what they are doing since it is so simple. I would take the Xperia Z off of your list since it doesnt match up.

Check out TechSpots' reviews on all three phones:
Galaxy S4: http://www.techspot.com/review/664-samsung-galaxy-s4/
HTC One: http://www.techspot.com/products/smartphones/htc-one.87473/ (I cannot find a full review on TS and posting another sites review would be considered kind of bias)

No one likes the thought that a mugging, car accident or other emergency can happen to them. Unfortunately, everyone runs into scary moments at some point in their life.

That's why ICE BlackBox is a must-have app. It's like a personal security system built right into your Android or Apple smartphone. It's got plenty of useful features and is easy to use in high-stress situations.

In case of an emergency, tap a button and ICE BlackBox streams video, audio and GPS location information to a secure server. Whether you're the victim of domestic abuse, a car accident or theft, you can collect valuable evidence to send to the police.

I am replacing my smartphone and need to sync them both together to be able to copy the photos, phone numbers etc. from one smartphone to the other. How do I do this? The makes of each of the two smartphones are Ideos.

Can it be done easily or does it involve sophisticated software?

A:Syncing smartphone

Are these Android phones? If so, your contact info should be synced to your Gmail account. Log into the new phone with the same account and that should be copied over. To move pictures, you'll need to upload them to a service or connect your phone to your computer and copy them over.

If the pictures are important, you should have a backup anyway. A smartphone is just a pocket-sized computer. It can crash, fail, etc. and has the added bonus of being easily lost or dropped.

Regard,
Thanks.

A:How to use VPN connection on a smartphone?

What application are you using to establish the VPN connection? A VPN connection should allow a remote device outside the LAN act as if it was and should be able to access resources limited only to that LAN the same way as if it was connected to it.

Just a couple of questions to help us give you the best support:

What phone are you using and what OS does it have (Android, iOS... etc? )

What VPN application are you using on the server to initiate the remote connection?

What is the OS of the home computer you wish to access and is there a shared folder set? If so what are the sharing permissions applied?

Don't worry if you can't answer all the questions, we will do our best with the information provided

You don't need the Samsung bloatware KIES to access the data on the device. Remove this software and just plug the smartphone, Windows will automatically install the MTP drivers (provided the device is in MTP mode, NOT in image/KIES mode).

For all the windows experts, something crazy happened to me yesterday!

I got around 300$ of data usage expense on my mobile within minutes, I turned on the hotspot on my mobile and connected my laptop to it, was doing some regular emails and light stuff, all the sudden my internet connected on my mobile turned off because I consumed all my allowance data and even more, it seems windows downloaded about 1.5 GB through the network with out me knowing so, and it was a 4G network so it happened very fast!

is there a way to know exactly what was downloaded in that period?! Crazy!

thank you.

A:Download Through Smartphone Hotspot

HI there,
Look in Update History, there is the Date when Updates were installed.
Maybe there is a Install Log on System.
But the best chance will be the bill of your ISP. It would contain the IP?s and the Data Volume downloaded.
You can use the "Whois" search Web Services to find out to whom those IP?s belong.
I would send the Bill to MS for they pay it.
The "Set as Metered Connection" should be set to "ON" as Default, to prevent such disaster.

It's a ridiculously enormous leap to go from an application developer to a hardware manufacturer. There are countless part suppliers, contracts, regulations, etc. in manufacturing cell phones. You'll notice that the only companies making cell phones are very, very large corporations. It's not at all practical for a single person to venture into that marketplace.

I just purchased a Verizon Thunderbolt Droid Phone. Loaded HTC Sync program and added items to the phone and SD Card.
When I connect the phone to the USB connection on my PC the drive shows up as "Microsoft Office Click-to-Run 2010 (Protected)(Q".

What's that?

Also, I can't delete or change anything.

Thanks to anyone.

Hi,
Here's my problem: I try to assist an old cousin (88) who lives in Israel while her only son lives in the US. She doesn't own a smartphone, just an old fashioned mobile. She owns a laptop and is connected to a wifi network.
I would have liked to activate whatapp on her chrome browser, but since her phone isn't smart enough, there's no way to install whatsapp on it.
Is there a way to "fake" a phone connection, using her mobile phone number, for activation whatsapp web?
Is there any other way I can help her with establishing a whatsapp connection on her laptop?

Given the wide diversity of data connections people get on their smartphones, I was wondering if developers who know they will download apps, images, movies, etc to phones have any guidelines or website forums specifically addressing considerations like:
what's the largest file you should attempt to download?
what considerations are there for servers used for downloading?
Are there various protocols that are better/worse for performing large downloads? or,
do different hosting services use different time-out parameters that would cause large downloads to fail?
I'm OK if you point me elsewhere or engage on one of more of these specific issues.

I see that Tigertext now has Secure paging:
http://www.fiercetelecom.com/press-...age-21st-century-pager-replacement-physicians
Basically they run it through their secure text messaging network, so you get a pager number and people and page you on it.
It seems that they made it for doctors, but I was wondering if it really has a place outside the medical industry.
I wonder if the pages can be set to auto delete like their text messages, so there is no record of the page on the phone?
Is paging of value to people who aren’t doctors?

I need to export or otherwise copy my contacts from my smartphone to my desktop PC, but can't figure out how to do it..

My smartphone used to sync with the office Exchange Server, but ideally I now want to sync my Outlook contacts with my home PC using standalone Outlook 2003. My PC runs XP SP3 and ActiveSync 4.5. Smartphone is Windows Mobile 6 Standard.

It looks as if I cannot sync Exchage Server contacts to standalone Outlook - if I try to switch to synching with Outlook it tells me the contacts on my phone will be deleted. Is there a safe way of doing this? I would rather retype all my contacts from the phone screen than risk losing them - I can no longer access my former office's Exchange Server.

If I can't use ActiveSync, is there a way of exporting contacts in bulk from Outlook on Windows Mobile?

Thanks for any help - Firepig

I am having an annoying and frequent problem with firefox loading websites using smartphone layout. Roughly 30% of the time it will load a page with full screen width images and text that spans the entire screen.
Reloading will sometimes bring it back to normal browser window display, other times it takes several reloads to get it right.
It's not limited to any particular pages, a page will load perfectly fine once, then the next time it loads up wrong.

I've played with user agents, updated, reloaded, reinstalled firefox and the problem persists, any ideas?

A:Firefox loading like a smartphone

I'd reset the FF User Agent to default and delete the cache, if it still happens even after a force-refresh, look for a Desktop link, there's often one at the bottom of the page.

If it persists and you're sure your User Agent is at default and you're sure aren't blocking correct browser capabilities detection with an extension, report it to the site owners.

I have a Dell Inspiron 15 R running Windows 7 Home Basic. I changed the bluetooth name, but the smartphone only detects and displays the computer name when it searches for bluetooth devices around it. Funnily, my iPad 2 detects the bluetooth name and displays the bluetooth name of my computer.

Previously, the bluetooth name and computer name were the same. I changed the former, but the smartphones continue to display the computer name and not the bluetooth name.

Any help to resolve this problem will be much appreciated.

Hello

My laptop works fine on my network for 80% of the time but the rest of the time I get yellow triangle and the system says limited access. The annoying bit is that when this happens my smartphone is still connected to my wifi network and works perfectly so I can only assume there is a fault on the laptop. I take out the network adapter plug then plug it in and the laptop usually reconnects but sometimes it can take about half an hour!

My laptop is an acer aspire6935 and the operating system is windowsvista home premium. The wireless router is connected to a desktop via a yellow data cable.

Any Help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I take out the network adapter plug then plug it inClick to expand...

these are powerlines connecting between you and the router via the house electrical system - is that correct ?
if not what are they

do you have another PC - you can try on the same cable connection ?

would you post the following tests when the internet is working OK, and then repeat ALL the tests when the internet disconnects.
Make sure you also indicate on the reply which tests are for what condition.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
ipconfig /all
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here.
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.

We would like to see the results from an ipconfig /all - post back the results in a reply here.

This should also work for windows 8
Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD then press Enter to open a command prompt box
(A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):

In the command prompt window that opens, type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

ipconfig /all > network.txt & network.txt

It will export the results into notepad and then automatically open the notepad and display on your screen.

Now all you need to do is copy and paste those results into a reply here
to do that:
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Select all
all the text will now be highlighted
Next
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Copy

Now go back to the forum - goto the reply and then right click in the reply box and paste the results.
The results from the notepad should now appear in the forum reply.

Type the following command

Post back the results in a reply here
right click in the command prompt box
select all

Type the following command

So i'd like to establish a different bluetooth connection, maybe with PAN but can't see how.

I have a Mi2S and I'm running the latest stock ROM 4.4.23.
Ever since the 4.4.11 update I've had poor idle battery life.

Before that when I look at my battery usage, as long as I have good signal and the screen is off, the battery level graph is flat.
Now, almost always when my phone is idle, no matter what there is some heavy drain, it was approximately 25% over 12 hours.

I've tried all the MI2S updates since then and they are all having this issue. I have not installed any new apps or changed anything on my current ones.

Attached are some wakelock detector screenshots.

Sometimes ???? has many wake alerts, but sometimes it does not. Weather app is disabled, and autosync is disabled too. Occasionally ???? does not have many wake alerts but that doesn't seem to reduce idle power draw, and I think it had this many wakes before as well.

Also the 3h wakelock app is the music player; the idle drain happened when the music player was off.

Thanks for reading.

I have never been able to justify getting a smartphone because I simply don't have a need to check my emails every 12 minutes. So paying for that plus internet service for the computer doesn't make sense. I don't want to be doing all my internet stuff exclusively on a phone either, so cancelling the computer internet doesn't make sense. But on the other hand in addition to a regular cell phone, I carry around a palm pilot that has medical software/textbooks on it that I use for work. So having smart phone would allow me to downsize the number of devices I am carrying around. If there was some way I could stream the internet through my phone onto my computer (its a laptop) then it would make economic sense to have a smartphone. Is there anyway this can be done (without having to have a degree in computer science)?

Hey guys, quick question.

I have an iPhone 4 and it has the ability to share its 3G data connection over USB (or WiFi)

When I had Windows 7 and I put the option to share over USB, the minute I put the iPhone 4 in over USB, the connection would automatically be detected and used. But with Windows 8, I am forced to use the WiFi feature which is bad for my battery and speed and I wouldnt prefer this of course.

Does anyone know how to set up Windows 8 to use the internet connection over USB?

A:How to setup internet connection over USB with smartphone?

I was checking into setting my iPhone 5 up over the G4 connection, so I did a little research. The phone says to use it that way, you have to set it up as a Hotspot and then your cellular provider has to set up their end.

I do have to turn off the WiFi for the LTE to be active. But I don't really see anyplace to use the phone through the USB. All I have is the Data Storage. Did you have some utility in Windows 7 that made it possible to use the phone this way? Are you using the same OS version now as before?

If you give me the steps you took to set it up in Windows 7, I will try both OSes to see what might be different.

I had a recent post concerning Win 8.1 and HTC Sync. I now have to buy a new phone since I can't sync my HTC Inspire with Outlook, running on Win 8.1. Any suggestions as to which smartphones have reliable sync software available (free download?)? I'm interested in the Samsung Galaxy S4 and see that Samsung's sync software is Kies. However, there are mixed comments as to whether it works on Win 8.1. Thanks.

A:Which Smartphone and Reliable Sync Software?

I use a galaxy S4 and the iCloud outlook updater on the PC (Don't need an iPhone to use iCloud) , and iSynchr on the PC to synch the S4 with my iTunes music libraries.

might seem a weird process , but we all share the same iCloud family login here on iPhones and Android phones, I just added the iCloud calendar to the S4, so we know what each of us is doing and the phone type (not Windows phone though) doesn't matter..

I stick an appointment on my S4 , my wife sees it on her iPhone almost straight away...and our PC outlook calendars get updated too (Just provide outlook the correct calendar link to let it show the iCloud data.

Hi
I was planning to take a monthly plan for 24 months for a Galaxy S mobile.

I like the phone very much, but we are in a very rural area and Vodafone, Orange and O2 do not have any 3G coverage and do not have any plans to introduce it in the shorterm, if at all.

Its around £35 a month and the phone free.

However, I was thinking that there seemed very little point spending so much money on a phone and not getting the potetential out of it.

Can anybody verify that my thinking is correct. If not why not?

Thanks for any help.

Thanks for replies to my postings. I find many smartphone WiFI phone apps for non-windows smartphones.

I tried the following.

MobileVOIP, Wi-Fi Calling, 3CXPhone, https://wiki.voip.ms/article/Softphones

The above are not working with Windows Smartphone with WiFi in USA.

I like to pick the insight of this forum.

Thanks for helping.

Hi guys - every Sunday I do an art show AND I play a huge amount of music that people ALWAYS want to know "what is that playing?" - unbelievable the amount of folks that don't have a Shazam type app...

So it would be wonderful if as the trax played they showed up on a PUBLIC feed so I don't have to 'fiddle' with the phone to do so (I can't remember all...) I just have a sign that sends them somewhere on the web...

ANY THOUGHTS?

Cheers

A:from smartphone to Twitter etc. - visible music playlist... HELP?

Apparently there's an app on iOS (iPhone, iPad, etc.) that can do that, not sure if this is what you're looking for.http://www.macrumors.com/2015/07/02/beats-1-play-twitter-playlist/Basically, you're looking for an app that will tweet the name of the song (and the artist) as you listen/play it?

When I connect the USB cable to the Bluetooth headset and then to the PC, Windows 7 tries to recognize it to install a driver or something, and then it claims the device has malfunctioned and tosses up the error 43. I tried restarting, uninstalling the unknown device, restarting again and re-connecting, but no such luck. The thing is, the PC still seems to charge the headset perfectly fine, and the headset pairs with my phone without an issue.

I'm not totally annoyed by this issue, I managed to get the headset for 15 dollars on Ebay and so far they work perfectly fine and like I said, they will charge via USB or I can connect my AC adapter and charge them fine that way. Just curious why 7 is trying to install drivers for a headset, it didn't try to do that with my old Skullcandy headset.

I need a smartphone that I can put a document with addresses and phone numbers on and the smartphone will hyperlink the number straight from the document.

I currently use iPhone 3gs and a app (Documents by Savy Soda) and it works: wifi doc to phone; open app; open doc; touch phone number and WaLa! it calls the number

I tried Windows phone thinking with Word and Excel on it, the phone would call from the document. NOT! I sent a file to a friend who has and Android phone and it won't do it either.

I'm not fond of Apple, so my question is:

IS THERE ANY PHONE OUT THERE THAT WILL HYPERLINK PHONE NUMBERS FROM A DOCUMENT?

Moderator note: drgerry, no need to shout.

A:Smartphone that will hyperlink phone numbers from document?

Stick with the iPhone then. But I know with Gmail if you open a doc with cell number on it will launch Android phone apk. I haven't tried that with Window smartphone with Gmail.

Hi,

I have a android smartphone which I use to run my android applications from my windows 7 dell laptop. This arrangement worked absolutely.I would connect my smartphone to my laptop through a USB and my computer would detect it and I could launch my app on smartphone whenever I want.

Recently I bought a new dell laptop, having windows 8.1 installed. But this new one is giving me too many problems with my smartphone. My smartphone is no more detected as smoothly as with previous one. And laptop frequently gives out a background sound when android device is connected to it.I m really annoyed with all these problems. It is hampering my android development work as device is detected only intermittently.
Please help me.

Manish

A:Windows 8.1 giving sounds when connected to smartphone

Although sounds are an issue, this is not really a "sound" problem (this forum section). It is more an application software issue.

Hi, I've had issues with my HP Spectre x360 4103-no.  I try to connect my smartphones (LG G3, LG G4 and HTC One M7) via USB and it connects but a second later it ejects. Sometimes when I move the phone or the computer while still connected, the PC ejects the device even though the USB cable is still in. I've tried multiple cables, all 3 of my USB ports and 3 different smartphones. I probably need to point out that this issue is alot more common with LG's.I don't remember this happening with the iPod or flash/harddrives even though I plug them in the same ports as the smartphones. This issue had me desperate! I've needed to borrow others, sometimes cheaper, PC's and it will work. Why is this even an issue with this flagship HP. Please help, I would appreciate it

I ve owned Casio PDAs Palms amp iPod Touch PDAs never smartphones On a number of occassions over the years I embarked on web research to track down the Most Suitable PDA but always got overwhelmed by the plethora of feature tables lists etc It seems that research can determine suitability only to a very gross degree and you really have to take the time to trial and get for not Off-the-cuff specific PDA requirements, smartphone suggestion to know candidate devices to really determine suitability Obviously that is unrealistic Since my iPod touch is dying I m hoping to try once again to identify a replacement but starting off with a very restricted list by surfing the crowd and getting reasoned suggestions for my rather unmodern requirements If Off-the-cuff suggestion for specific PDA requirements, not smartphone you can chime in with your off-the-top-of-the-head suggestions for the following requirements and the reasons I d appreciate your input One of my unmodern quot nonrequirements quot is that I don t want to use a data plan because that ties my PDA options to a cellular provider and a contract That s a whole new constantly shifting playing field that I m not yet prepared to get smart about The mandatory requirements are Calendar contacts amp notes should sync with Outlook on Windows WiFi browsing MP amp WAV player Real keys in a hide-away keyboard The would-be-nice features are GPS do these exist on devices that aren t meant for data plans Maintains podcasts updates episodes track episodes listened to Entire top surface can be used for display as in the iPod Touch FM radio Voice recorder Very marginal benefit Viewing videos resident files amp streaming An almost-nonrequirement is jailbreaking -- I don t intend to do that since I don t intend to spend lots of time getting to know the internal systems of the PDA I treat it strictly from a user perspective where it helps to me organize and free up my time rather than a hobby to which I devote time However jailbreaking is not entirely a nonrequirement because if the additional value-adding functionality is compelling enough and the time sink is small I could go for it Thanks for any reasoned suggestions for me to looking further into nbsp

A:Satellite Z30-A - USB tethering Smartphone Galaxy Note 3 does not work

So ...

Windows 8.1 decided to update the Samsun USB modem "drivers"

Windows 8.1 decided to update the Visual C++ runtime library which I had had to install Samsung Kies

I decided to remove root from the phone ("unroot")

Effect:
NDIS network comes up immediatedly
12 MB/s down, 3 MB/s up

Which is when I noticed that I had run the speed check on the mobile network, not WLAN -> mobile -> laptop.
Which now also works.

*Problem solved.*

Does watching video on a smartphone user the same bandwidth or download as in any computer?

Thanks.

A:Does watching video on a smartphone user the same bandwidth or download as in any com

Yes and no. It all depends on what format the video is in (AVI, MP4, etc.). A file with higher compression will occupy less space and take less bandwidth/download amount to download. Whatever format it is in, though, it will consume some bandwidth and download amount (I take it from the question that you have a monthly download limit from your ISP, correct?)

A friend of mine has an LG-P500 which is supposed to be a contract phone on T-Mobile. He agreed to sell to me and I am interested provided I can unlock it and keep all its functionality. I have a rolling contract, SIM only deal with Tesco (o2 network) which I'd like to keep, along with my number.

As I've never unlocked a SmartPhone before, my question is will it still be fully functional, and will I be able to use the internet on my own network and data?

Kind regards,
Audity

A:Solved: Will internet work on other networks after unlocking smartphone?

Yes it will be fully functional and you can get the settings for your provider of their website. I'm on O2 so if you need I can give them to you. Any decent shop should be able to unlock that phone for around £5.

Excellent smartphone config!

There's no doubt about the effectiveness of avast! and Malwarebytes Mobile Security.

I personally am using AdGuard too (proxy mode), and it's so far been extremely effective at blocking advertisement and tracker domains! It truly is very powerful.

Solid config, overall!
