I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Back at the main window, click the green arrow "Start Scanning" button on the right under the Dr.Web logo. ? When the scan is complete, a message will be displayed at the bottom indicating if any viruses were found. ? Click "Yes to all" if asked to cure or move the file(s) and select "Move incurable". ? In the top menu, click file and choose save report list. ? Save the DrWeb.csv report to your desktop. ? Exit Dr.Web Cureit when done. ? Important! Reboot your computer because it could be possible that files in use will be moved/deleted during reboot. ? After reboot, post the contents of the log from Dr.Web in your next reply. I am 14 years old and had given my old computer to my Grandpa about a year ago and I ended up wiping the computer and reinstaling Windows Vista on it the computer has been operating fine until recently. I have it set to automatically update Windows when needed now for a while for some unknown reason it will not update windows service pack 2 after many attempts. The computer is a Dell Insiron 1521 with a ADM turion 1.79 GHz processer with 4 GB of ram and has a 32 bit operating system. The start up system repair is not an option because I put the CD in and there was no repair option, and I have tried the check system readiness tool from the microsoft website but it was unsuccessful. It keeps giving me the error code ERROR_SXS_COMPONENT_STORE_CORRUPT(0x800737112).

This issue has plagued me on and off for years, but it wasn't until recently that I decided to finally get to the root of things and fix the issue once and for all. (Thanks in no small part to Star Citizen and XCOM 2 failing to launch without it)

Normally I try to avoid posting new threads/questions on sites like these when 95% of the time someone else already did and got answered, but that doesn't really cut it in this situation unfortunately. After running the SURT, all errors it found were fixed with the exception of 4 missing .dll's from the a folder under winsxs. From what I've read, I need to get them from a computer running the exact same version of Windows.

No error codes anywhere after restarting or in Windows Update. All other updates are successfully installed.

Running 64bit Professional edition.

Hi Zarkith,
For a start can you d/l and run
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2749655, (for W7 x64)

REBOOT

this may clear your netframework problem as well.
If not d/l and run the MS repair tool
Download Microsoft .NET Framework Repair Tool from Official Microsoft Download Center

Uninstall ALL of your of MSvisual c++ programs, then when you run your games next time it will tell you which you require.

We'll go on from here depending on what your results are

You will need an XP CD to do any type of repair. More importantly you will also need a valid windows XP licence Key.

A:Vista will not update from Service Pack 1 to Service Pack 2

Hi,

To recreate the error, I suggest we try these steps to reinstall
SP2.

Step 1: Run the System Update Readiness Tool
====================================
1. Please download the System Update Readiness Tool from the link below according to the System Type:

System Update Readiness Tool for Windows Vista 32-bit
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2889489c-ee87-4607-8aa5-812e8078ab27&DisplayLang=en

System Update Readiness Tool for Windows Vista 64-bit
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=14f76773-007c-493f-bece-243bc21ac73d&DisplayLang=en

2. Double click downloaded file to run the System Update Readiness Tool.

Then, let's run System File Checker (SFC) to repair Windows Vista system files.

Step 2: Run System File Checker (SFC) to repair Windows Vista system files
=================================================
1. Click Start, type "cmd" (without the quote) in the Start Search bar, right-click cmd.exe and click run as administrator.

2. Input the following commands and press Enter after each line.

sfc /scannow

Note: There is a SPACE between "SFC" and "/Scannow". This command will take several minutes to complete.

Restart the computer.

Then, I suggest downloading the Standalone Installer and installing it in Clean Boot Mode.

Step 3: Download Windows Vista SP2 Standalone Installer
====================================================
1. Download Windows Vista SP2 Standalone Installer from the link below according to the System Type:

Windows Vista Service Pack 2 Five Language Standalone for Windows
Vista 32-bit (KB948465) (Size: 348.3 MB)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=a4dd31d5-f907-4406-9012-a5c3199ea2b3&DisplayLang=en

Windows Vista Service Pack 2 Five Language Standalone for Windows
Vista 64-bit (KB948465) (Size: 577.4 MB)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=656c9d4a-55ec-4972-a0d7-b1a6fedf51a7&DisplayLang=en

Step 4: Install Windows Vista SP2 in Clean Boot Mode
=========================================
Please disable all startup items and third party services when booting to avoid conflict when installing Windows
Vista SP2.

1. Click "Start", type: MSCONFIG in the search box and press Enter.

Note: Please click "Continue" if the "User Account Control" window pops up.

2. Click "Services", check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray).

3. Click "Startup", click "Disable All", click "OK" and restart the computer.

Note: Temporarily disabling the Startup Group only prevents the startup programs from loading at startup. This shouldn't affect the system or other programs. We can manually run these programs later.

4. Please double click the downloaded Standalone Installer and follow the instructions to install Windows
Vista SP2.

To restore the computer to use a Normal Startup, repeat step 1 above. Then click "Normal Startup" on the General tab, click "OK", and then restart the computer.

Hello!

What you should do varies greatly depending on one thing. Can you please look back at your update history, and tell me if it is repeatedly failing, or repeatedly succeeding? Double click on one as an example, and see if you can get an error code out of it.

Then please copy the C:\Windows\Logs\CBS folder to your Desktop, copy the C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log into that new folder on your Desktop as well, right click on it > Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder, and upload the new file which is created on your Desktop here.

Thanks!

The updating process makes it about 3/4 of the way through before an error appears telling me that "a device connected to the system is not working properly." The Instalation process reverses itself and the Service Pack 3 update fails.

My question is.... Is it possible to go straight to Service Pack 3 (without having to install Service Pack 2)??

A:Service Pack Update; Is it possible?

Yes. But if you have an AMD chip then you will need to download the hotfix first before installing SP3. SP3 does not incluse IE7 though, but does include updates for IE6 and IE7 which get applied to whichever IE version you have. SP3 also includes all updates and patches/ fixes from SP1 and SP2.

Hello -
Do you have Windows Updates turned on ?? This is the easy way.
Each month M/soft releases Updates and Security Patches for your system.
Go to Control Panel and make sure you have Updates Enabled -

Or go Start > Programs > and open Windows Updates, then install all Express or Important Updates offered.

Thank You -

Microsoft will no longer freely support Windows 7 without the Service Pack 1 update. The problem for me is that I have never, ever been able to successfully install the update (this is apparently not an uncommon trait). This computer will last me about another year and I m happy with it, as is. It works for what I need to do. I'm okay not having Microsoft's support.

How to disable the service pack from attempting another fruitless update? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Right now, it seems every 4th time I start my pc, I get that service pack installation, then the subsequent reversion. The whole thing takes about an hour before I can actually log on.

Thanks, BC peoples!

A:Service Pack 1 - Prevent the Update

Hi

I strongly advice to install SP1. It not only contains security updates but includes several reliability, stability and performance enhancements.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows7/whats-included-in-windows-7-service-pack-1-sp1

Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) is an important update that includes previously released security, performance, and stability updates for Windows 7. SP1 also includes new improvements to features and services in Windows 7, such as improved reliability when connecting to HDMI audio devices, printing using the XPS Viewer, and restoring previous folders in WindowsExplorer after restarting.

If you have problems installing SP1 using Windows update, try downloading and running the offline installer.

For 32 bit Win 7 - http://download.microsoft.com/download/0/A/F/0AFB5316-3062-494A-AB78-7FB0D4461357/windows6.1-KB976932-X86.exe

I'm writing from another computer than the one affected because it won't connect to the internet.

I was going online when the Microsoft update page came up - I believe it was IE 7 Service Pack 2. Figured I'd do it to keep my computer up to date and safe.

However, I noticed it created additional shortcuts for IE and when I do click on IE to connect, the desktop just flickers and remains the same. I can't get to the web.....

and I'm Freaking out!! Any ideas?

Thank you so much for your expertise : )

Nancy

Hi,
I am using Windows-7 ultimate.
Long before only (nearly more than 2 months before), I got the Windows 7 Service Pack 1 into my Windows Update folder. From then onwards, whenever I am trying to install this update, after long delay, I am getting the error message something like Windows update could not install this update. More than 10 times I tried.

What could be the problem? Can anybody please suggest what to do to solve this problem?

I am attaching the screenshot for your reference.

Thanks for your help.

Hi there,

I attempted to install XP SPII on my PC (a first step in installing SPIII).

Now my PC will not boot!!

I am currently running it in safe mode but if I try to "open windows normally" or even "open using last known working configuration" it will not boot properly". It just boots up till about the time the log in screen would appear and then reboots from the beginning.

now, i dont have sp2 at all. do i need this prescott-fix update? should i get sp2 now with this new fix? or should i avoid it all like the plague?

thanks, guys!

A:Service Pack 3 via Microsoft Update

If your computer is up-to-date with all the other updates from Windows update then SP3 in itself is not very important. It's only really useful for people who want to install Windows XP from scratch on a new machine so that they don't need to install all the updates one at a time.

I haven't heard of programs that didn't run anymore after installing SP3 but there are some preliminary steps you have to take :

A:Service pack 2 update not work

If you install Service Pack 2 after there are many programs already on your computer you have a much higher risk of the install not working. If you don't want to reinstall Windows then you have to uninstall any programs/drivers you don't need/use then try to install SP2 with no other programs running, inc. Anti-Virus/Spyware. If that still doesn't work then you could Slip Stream SP2 with your current Windows disk and install it that way.

Since I reboot the system after update, none of my drives (including system drive) open on double clicking it. I already tried rolling back updates by uninstalling it and system restore.. but no luck,, Though I can open my drives from selecting it using location bar. I didn't turn on encryption for the drives or uninstalled drivers, antivirus before making the update. I don't suspect no malware or virus.

Here is an image of an error message it gives on double clicking any of the drives:

When I turned Vista on today it said there was an update. So here I am installing this update that seems like an hour, only to find it did not install and it reverting back the changes. Why didn't this install? Is there a program conflict somewhere? I never had a problem like this with XP. I have my firewall off (Comodo) and really don't have much programs installed since it's just my laptop.

Thanks

Hi Debbie,

Did you already install a previous version of the SP1? If so, you will need to uninstall it first to be able to install the new version.

A:Ext HD Not Accessible After Win 7 Service Pack 1 Update

Sorry to hear your having issues with your data!

Welcome to sevenforums!

I am assuming that you are talking USB external drives... Have you tried unplugging, rebooting and then plugging back in?

Perhaps the SP1 update overwrote a proprietary hard drive manufacturers sw... what brand and model drives are these? Im sure your data is still on these drives, the SP1 upgrade wouldnt do anything to your tunes!

Western Digital, and others, external drives frequently use their own software, so you may need to check with your drives manufacturer!

Just wanted to ask if anyone besides myself have experienced problems after installing the Service Pack 2, and having a dialog box pop up with the wording "An error has occurred in this script page", when I try to choose any subject in my home page of my ISP (WMCONNECT). Microsoft has given me different options in correcting this problem and nothing has worked. I had to revert back to System Restore and remove the Service Pack 2 to avoid this dialog box. Any support would be appreciated since the folks at Microsoft seem not to know the answer. Ed

One of the things i must to is to udpate my vista into SP2, and i installed the stand alone installer and i followed all the steps here shown (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947366) and i just keep having the same error: ERROR_REQUIRES_INTERACTIVE_WINDOSTATION(0x800705b3). I'm a guy who likes to keep all the software on my laptop updated to the latest version (Except Windows updates). Recently I saw on the web that there is a service pack update for Windows 7 named Service Pack 1 and searched more for details about this update and found that many users who have updated to Service Pack 1 are experiencing slowdowns. I have already downloaded the genuine SP1 ISO file for the Ultimate version and hesitating to go for a fresh install because of these bad reviews.
Will a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate Service Pack 1 (x86) make my computer slower than my current non-SP Ultimate (x86) edition as many users have posted on the internet? If so how can I overcome that problem?
Please help me

A:Should I install Windows 7 Service Pack 1 Update?

I'm one who applies pretty much all OS updates on all my machines (other than hardware drivers from MS update) and have never experienced a slow down due to updates being applied. IMO, even if you don't apply any other updates you should apply SP1.

As the title says, the SP1 update never showed up in windows update in my laptop...
I manually checked for updates many times just to end with a message "Windows is up to date".
I've always received other updates normally.

In case someone asks, my copy of windows is legit. My laptop came with W7 Home premium installed and a couple days ago i upgraded to W7 Business with a key i had.
I only upgraded cause i thought somehow the update would appear. Ended up with same result as above.

I know i can download it in Microsoft's website but i just wan't to know if there's a way to fix this or if anyone have experienced this.

Btw, I'm running Windows 7 Professional x64 now.
Any help would be great

A:Service Pack 1 won't show in Windows Update

Tryed to do a restore, but there are no dates to restore to.

Microsoft Word Processor is one program I am trying to open, but no go.

Also, documents that were produced and saved before the update will no longer open.

Somebody please, please, help me.

Hello,

I have seen that this problem has been solved before on this forum for other people, but that it is different in each case.
I have tried to install windows Service Pack Update through windows update and also downloading it. Both won't install due to error 800b0100.
I also dowloaded the recomended Windows6.1-KB947821-v12-x64.msu file to check the problem and maybe solve it. It hasn't worked.
I add the checksur log file, hoping someone may help me.
Thanks,
Kim

Hi. I was referred to this site by the Safer Networking Fourums. They helped clear out some malware from my kid's computer. Here is the link to my topic http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?p=314091#post314091. I was asked to try to update to Windows service pack 3 and I was unable to do so. I got an 0x800A0046 error message. I can not get into the control panel to try some of the suggestions to resolve the error on Microsoft's troubleshooting site. If I try to open the control panel my computer locks up.The computer is a Dell Dimension 3000 running Windows XP Service Pack 3. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Hi, I'm have a problem with my Vista computer. Recently I tried to install the service pack 2 for Vista because it was said that I needed it to download Windows Live Messenger 2011. So I did install the updates and reboot the computer. However, after the computer reboots there's a message on the screen that says "Service pack failed to install. Reverting changes. Do not turn off your computer." It has been there since 11.30 AM and now its 10:34 PM. I think someone who tried to use the computer restarted it and probably messed it up? I have tried rebooting into safe mode but this message still pops up and I currently do not have the Vista CD. Is there anyway I can remove this message and use the computer normally?

Is this the computer you are recently receiving help in the Malware Removal Section? If yes, then I would recommend sticking to that one thread. If this is not the computer that you are receiving help on then, do the following:Please perform the following, so that we can get the exact specs of your computer. My friend enabled automatic updates, and XP began downloading SP2. After he returned from going out the download appeared to have been completed, however there is no icon in the task-bar to prompt him to install SP2. We tried setting the specific time for the updater to install new downloads, but nothing happened.

Do any of you know the location that Win Updater downloaded SP2 to? That way we can install it manually without having to wait for the auto updater to prompt him.

What would the SP2 install file be called so we can search for it?

A:Solved: windows xp service pack 3 update

For most people there is no problem with SP3.
There are a few specific instances such as some HP with AMD processors which were loaded with the same drive image as the Intel processors thus having an incorrect processor management file which when replaced causes problems on reboot.

But generally speaking if your machine is clean of malware, and otherwise up to date , sp3 is a fairly minor set of changes.
As always, you should backup vital data, you should do a basic disk cleanup (empty temp and temp internet files, and recycle bin ; run error checking and defrag the disk ) before you install the service pack. Then make sure you have a clean restore point too just in case.

How much space do you have left on your hard disk?

SP1 is quite greedy and requires at least 5G of free space before it even entertains the idea of installing it.

I am running Windows 7. For some reason the list of updates includes an update for Office XP Service Pack 3. However, this update always fails. Why does Windows 7 include an update for Office XP. All the other updates install fine.

A:Office XP Service Pack 3 Update Failed

Thats because your computer is likely set up for Microsoft update rather than plain windows updates.

Quote:
While Windows Update provides you with updates specifically for Windows, Microsoft Update expands the service to download and install updates for other Microsoft software, such as Microsoft Office and Windows Live. Automatic updating is a feature that allows you to set your PC to automatically download and install updates using either service, making it easy and convenient for you to keep your Windows PC current.

You can turn off office update listings by clicking on "Change settings" in the left panel on the Windows update page, then unchecking the box under the heading "Microsoft updates". Alternatively, you can just right click on the offered office update and hide it so it wont show up in the future.

This is creating security issues for me as I like to wipe my file data after I back it up, but now I have to wipe all my free space instead of just sending files to the recycle bin and shredding them there.

I've tried a few recommended fixes, none have worked.

I "do not" want to install M.S. Service Pack 2 at this time. But my Windows update is set to download automatically, and do a manual install. Question being...is Service Pack 2 only one file, or is it multiple files? How is the file/files named? I have several updates downloaded, but I only want to install ones that are not Service Pack 2. Can anyone advise me on this?

Thanks for your assistance!!!

A:Service Pack 2.. Windows Update File Name?

Wayne,

The file name is WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.exe. My understanding is that there are two flavors: (1) download the whole thing, which is 272 megabytes, or (2) let Bill Gates and them send it to you a little at a time. I downloaded the file and installed it myself on both machines. I haven't had any problems.

I don't know if there is a way to list the downloads that are sitting on your machine. I tend to go to the windowsupdate website, and let the machine check which downloads need to be installed. Next, I click the option that allows me to decide which upgrades to download and install. This may still work for you if the website does not see the downloads that are on your machine but which have not been installed. I am thinking that you have actually downloaded files to some temporary folder. I hope this helps.

Hi. I am looking for some advice. A few weeks ago, my computer stopped being able to update anything. I was trying to run my virus scanning program and it just kept saying "initializing" and never seemed to be able to detect new updates. Also, when I tried later to install new windows software (from automatic updates) it says it is unable to do so (after going through most of the installation, it seems). The message I get is that I do not have authorization and then it says "unable to install Windows XP service pack. My computer seems to be working fine otherwise. Anyone know what I can do to fix this?
Thanks in advance!

Hi Alison, and welcome to TSF.

Do you have more than one user account on the computer ? I'm thinking that you may be running on a limited user account. You need to be logged in as administrator.

I have an hp Compaq 6516b running Vista Business. I have recently reinstalled the OS and have downloaded and installed all updates. However, Windows Update keeps saying that I need to install Service Pack 1 . I do it and it will tell me installation successful. The recently installed updates file show that service Pack 1 has been successfully installed. Yet, system information says Vista Business with no Service Pack mentioned and updates keeps telling me that Service Pack 1 is ready to be installed.

So why does Vista show that I have successfully installed Service Pack 1, yet keeps asking me to install it? Programs and Features lists Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 as being installed on the system.

Thanks

Okay I have done just about everything googled binged yahooed and alta vistaed all kinds of questions about updating vista's service pack and I still cannot get past quot service pack did not install reverting changes do not turn off quot screen -- Its like a microsoft created a self perpetuating virus I cannot boot from a boot disk and recover to a Pack Loop! Update Service 2 Perpetual prior date -- it has none listed on the computer because I did a clean install from a clean hard drive that I formatted About the only thing I can do is boot to an XP partition on the HDrive that I loaded for emergencies on a recovery D area -- I CANNOT get into vista Service Pack 2 Update Perpetual Loop! no matter what I do Is there anyway I can go into the other OS delete these virus service packs and get it back to SP I would actually have to do it when I am in XP because I cannot get into VISTA at all I had everything running smoothly and perfectly before this last try to update I had it happen once but after about an hour it got out of the loop Far be it from me to TRY to do legitimate updates to Vista and get it to the next SP What the heck is going on Microsoft has nothing to fix this They have to be the only software package that eats itself from the inside out on regular updates This has had to have been addressed before I went through threads here and elsewhere and the answer is not simple or non existant How can you just do regular updating and the computer just goes into a perpetual loop -- can anyone get me a straight answer on this as I said there has to be a way to manually delete whatever is making this computer hiccup forever Please point me to a fix or a delete method - I have never seen an OS destroy itself ever

A:Windows 7 Service Pack 1 unable to update

I would do the following things in the order listed:

1. Run a full scan with your updated anti-virus suite. Since no anti-malware product is 100% effective 100% of the time, I would run a couple of additional on-demand scanners just to double check my computer. These free products are recommended:

Malwarebytes

ESET Online Scanner

SuperAntispyware

HitmanPro

2. If the malware scans come back clean I would next check for damaged or corrupt system files. Run a system file checker scan from an elevated command prompt (option two.) If problems are found, run the scan 3 times and reboot the computer after each scan.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

3. Go to the Microsoft Download Center and get the Windows 7 64-bit System Update Readiness Tool for your version of Windows 7. Follow the instructions to run it.

System Update Readiness Tool fixes Windows Update errors in Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008 R2, and Windows Server 2008

4. Before attempting to install SP1 I would first try to manually install the other Windows Updates. Do not do an automatic install because if one of the updates hoses your computer you won't know which one it was. Select "Never check for updates (not recommended)" in Step 3.

Windows Update Settings - Change

5. When manually installing updates start with the Critical, then Important, and finally Optional. Select maybe two at a time and keep track of the KB numbers. After installing, reboot the computer and make sure things are working the way they should. If they are, select the next group of two, install and reboot. But if your computer doesn't work properly, you'll know exactly which two updates need to be uninstalled. Then try installing just one at a time and reboot after each one. They'll either install correctly or you can put the problem update aside and move on to the next group of two. Continue until all updates have been installed. This is a much slower process but usually results in a cleaner install of updates.

6. Once you've installed the updates try installing SP1

Hi

I recently installed the latest Windows Update for Service Pack - the install took quite a while, and I left my laptop plugged into the power supply to ensure it didn't go to sleep/power off.

I recently got 02 Broadband which came with MacAfee, however, the authorisation process didn't work so well, so I downloaded Avira Antivir - Avira installed however keeps showing the following:

So I uninstalled Avira and downloaded AVG - AVG installed but then crashed out with an error message. I attempted to download Avast! and the same happened - it won't let me install anything I've downloaded, so I'm guessing something occurred during the Service Pack update.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you

A:Please help - Programs won't install after Service Pack update

Hello Georgiee and welcome to the forums

I would recommend that you do a system restore to before you had the service pack:

System Restore - How to

Then I would remove whatever anti virus you had installed on your system at that time using the designated removal tool from the manufacturer's website. Take a look at this if you're unsure where to find it:

Removal Tools and Methods for Uninstalling Major Antivirus Products - computer help forum

Then install the service pack through Windows Update

Then create a restore point:

System Restore Point - create

Then install whatever anti virus you want

Let us know if it works!

My computer crashed and I had to reinstall everything on my computer. see this post http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/105127/error-loading-operating-system/I have got everything back on and have been doing all the windows updates. When I get to the update "Windows office XP service pack 3" I can't get it to work. It brings up the grey box and says "installing windows office xp service pack 3" then doesn't do anything. I have let it run for hours and have tried several times. What could be causing this problem?

A:Can Update Windows Office Xp Service Pack 3

The service pack 3 for XP is a Beta version and is comprised of a collection of hotfixes that are all from Microsoft but some of them have not been tested and there is concern for this causing instability issues. Microsoft has a bad reputation for their Beta versions being left to the public to de-bug, in short if you use a Beta version you get what ever surprises comes with it. Personally I wouldn't install it on my computer.

But I can't understand why Windows 10 is trying to install an XP update on a machine that has never has XP on it.

As Im sure you will all know we are now on Service Pack 3 however when I go to download the latest versions of anything on the Microsoft Website my web browser says "Cannot Display Page" I have tried installing, SP2, SP3, WMP11, IE6, IE7. And all come up with the same!

Is there anywhere I can download or get Service Pack 2 as I think this will help sort out my other issues with the computer!

When you re-install Windows XP (if this is original version) you just have to click on "Start" button and than on "Windows Update" and than to searching for new updates on Windows company website.
I'm with SP 3 and got it from "Start"- "Windows Update"

Hi mawil1013,

I noticed your trying to install a 64-bit SP1 version on a 32-bit machine!
(according to your specs):

Code:
"Windows 7 Service Pack 1 for x64-based Systems (KB976932) -
Download size: 73.6 MB - 892.6 MB"
Try the Update readiness tool for x86 machine:

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3132

Failing that, try installing SP1 using a standalone installer:

Download Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (KB976932) from Official Microsoft Download Center

You want to download and install this version:

Code:

windows6.1-KB976932-X86.exe - This application installs SP1 to a
32-bit machine running Windows 7.
If it still fails, try installing the SP1 update with your Anti-virus disabled, and internet connection disabled.

Remember to enable AV if you are successful.

Hope this helps.

cheers

You can manually download SP1 here:
