I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi everone,
Have been annoyed for days trying to work this data miner cookie out (atdmt.com) which I believe belongs to Atlas Solutions. I couln't understand how it was coming back so often. I wasn't getting it in firefox but started to notice when using Internet Explorer and ran a scan afterwards it was detected by superantispyware and 10bit Security 360. Done a bit more delving and found if I didn't use Windows Live Messenger or go to Hotmail and ran a scan straight after, no atdmt showed in scan. But if I ran a scan after going to Hotmail or open WLM, presto there it is everytime. Do I have to suffer this frustrating cookie for ever or does someone know a way of saying goodbye to this menace once and for all?

Okay so I have a page on Facebook and I used Facebook Connect to display stuff on a website. This is the link for the Facebook Connect:
http://www.connect.facebook.com/con...016&name=&width=300&connections=&stream=&css=

NoScript is telling me that page is running to run a script from atdmt.com but I can't find anything from that domain in the source. Regardless I looked up atdmt and found this:
http://www.ehow.com/about_5375788_atdmt.html

It doesn't look to be good. This isn't anything on my computer injecting atdmt onto Facebook is it? Because it doesn't show up elsewhere. Is Facebook using Atdmt?

A:Atdmt cookie, Facebook

I tested with a few FB connections from various sites and that script is NOT listed on any of them. It doesn't even show for me in the link you posted. Personally, when I come across a script related to an ad agency I just forbid it in NoScript. I also normally disable 3-rd party cookies and set all cookies to expire when I close FireFox.

Funny enough the whois of that domain is listed as registered to Microsoft. When you visit the homepage is says its part of Microsoft Advertising Agency.

This forum was extremely helpful to me in Tracker? Think-adz Cookie Z-start, ridding my computer of a nasty virus last year Thanks to that process we have ZoneAlarm installed - but missed an update and apparently that was when something slipped through Over the past couple of months we have been experiencing more pop-up ads though nothing as egregious as the assault a year ago but even more frustrating is the common occurrence of the browser locking up or freezing presumably because it's off searching for some ad URL We also have Ad-Aware and SpyBot installed though thanks to ZoneAlarm we haven't felt the need to use them Cookie Tracker? Having read all the other posts regarding ATDMT tracking cookie, and trying all the suggestions, none worked for me!

ATMD tracking cookie was opening when ever I opened I.E, I finally got rid of it by doing the following;

open internet expolerer

tools

manage add-ons

I then deleted some of the add-ons that I felt I no longer needed.

that worked for me.

It might have been better, if I had disabled all add-ons, then enabled one by one, that way I would have known for sure which one caused the problem.

Atlast I am finally free of that pesky little might called ATDMT

I didn't know if I should post a log file of some kind I don't see if it would do any good I don't know if I've had this for a while or if it's new The cookie quot atdmt cookie removed atdmt.com permanently can't be com quot cannot be removed I've tried SpyBot Search and Destroy Spyware Doctor Norton Internet Security Malwarebyte Anti-malware all of them claim they've removed it but it immediately shows up again on another scanning I've tried manually deleting it but it doesn't even budge I've scoured websites and forums for solutions but none of them provide any solutions There is no toolbar addon supposedly atdmt.com cookie can't be removed permanently by Dell that I can disable there is no quot atlassolutions quot entry or key in my registry there's literally NOTHING except that one cookie and it ALWAYS comes back I've also added quot atdmt com quot to my blocked cookie and website lists for IE and Firefox but it still comes back The only thing I haven't done yet is restart in safe mode delete it manually and try again I couldn't delete it in safe mode either Sorry I don't mean to bump it but I can't edit my previous posts I tried a system restore to yesterday before my last Windows update and the cookie was there I could believe that I've had this for a while unknowingly

I have got a completely clean computer but AVG 8.5 and Ad-aware both find the tracking cookie atdmt.com no matter what I seem to do.
I have got it blocked in both IE and FF 3.5 but it seems to load with my MSN and looking in the reg it seems to be now part of my MSN along with bing.com, both of which can be seen on booting up and looking on Ccleaner to see what cookies are there.
I did delete the parts of my reg that had atdmt.com in it but they came back!

Does anyone have any suggestions?
I would like it gone as I do not want to turn off scan for TC in AVG and getting rid of MSN is a last resort.

Thanks.

A:Spyware/Tracking cookie atdmt.com that does not want to go away

Read more here about Atdmt cookies:http://www.atlassolutions.com/privacy2.aspx#anti-spywareWhat browser are you using? You can make it so it does not accept cookies from them.Other than that, I would update your java to the latest version:Update Java:Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on the Software icon > add/remove programs.Search in the list for all previous installed versions of Java. (J2SE Runtime Environment.... )

It should have next icon next to it:
Select it and click Remove. The current version can be downloaded from Sun here: http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp Scroll down the page to 'Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 16' and press the 'Download' button. On the new web page, click the 'Accept License Agreement' button. Then select 'Windows Offline Installation, Multi-language' in the Windows Platform area just below the Accept button.

Hello everyone,

is there a way I can assist my maintenance by preventing the spy cookie atdmt. from loading? Each time I run a full scan there it is again ... supposedly sending off details of my browsing to who knows where.

It's not all that serious but I would like to learn a bit more about the options I have
in configuring my system.

A:Can I configure to prevent atdmt.cookie from loading?

I am running windows vista. I have ran multiple different virus scans and spyware/malware scans and still have this "piece of paper image" that shadows my cursor every so often. (picture attached). It happens mainly on facebook. I attempted to use the Malwarebytes program suggested but it won't run. When the installation is finished, it says that the program encountered an error and must close. When I try to run the program, nothing happens.I am running 32-bit vista in case that is pertinent information.

Hello Everyone! I've been having a GREAT deal of trouble removing a virus from my computer. All of my google searches seem to be redirected by something called search-tracker.net
This has been frustrating the hell out of me for weeks now. I found that some other people have been helped here at bleeping computer with the same problem, so I figured I'd register and see if I can't fix this thing cone and for all. I can't install Spybot without getting the blue screen of death, and combofix won't even open the installer. PLEASE HELP! This is really getting old.

A:NASTY Virus. Search-tracker.net help

Hello and welcome.. First I am Moving this to Am I Infected from Vista for scans. Now don't worry about SpyBot and do NOT run ComboFix on your own..Next run MBAM (MalwareBytes):NOTE: Before saving MBAM please rename it to zztoy.exe....now save it to your desktop. Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.alternate download link 1alternate download link 2MBAM may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you. Temporarily disable such programs or permit them to allow the changes.Make sure you are connected to the Internet.Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:Update Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareLaunch Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareThen click Finish.MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the definition updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install. On the Scanner tab:Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected. Then click on the Scan button. If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button. The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient. When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.Back at the main Scanner screen:Click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad. The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply. Be sure to post the complete log to include the top portion which shows MBAM's database version and your operating system.Exit MBAM when done.Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be asked to reboot your computer so MBAM can proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally (not into safe mode) will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

A:Syshost.exe Tracker Trojan/Virus on Windows 7 - Please Help

Informational bump: my local service center is only open today this week (don't ask me why), and I need the issue fixed long before next Monday, so I will be taking it in one hour.

I know there are a lot of other people in this forum with various issues, and I'd never expect any special treatment just because I'm in a rush, but anyone able to respond within an hour or so to try to help me deal with this issue myself without breaking the bank would have my eternal esteem and gratitude . Otherwise, this thread will probably be closed later.

My computer is sticken with a virus of seemingly epic proportions Random asian web pages keep popping up in IE I use firefox for everything never IE while in general use of computer not virus, or tracking cookie? a this bad Is just a while visiting certain sites or running a particular program For instance i left my Is this a virus, or just a bad tracking cookie? computer copying a large amount of files from my desktop to a removable HDD and when i came back there is a couple of these pages open Then I started getting weird error messages such as one's with Jibberish in the title and Is this a virus, or just a bad tracking cookie? the text with an Is this a virus, or just a bad tracking cookie? 'OK' button At this point I did a Malwarebytes scan and an AVG free scan AVG turned up one trojan and like bajillion tracking cookies Malwarebytes turned up trojan files I deleted them all Next day same thing happened random sites errors etc Did same scan turned up exactly the same errors Kept deleting the files After a few successive scans I realised that all the infections were coming from two folders C windows system E A EF C Documents and Settings Owner local settings temp E N I deleted these folders but they keep coming back There are a few other things that I have noticed Such as when I plug in removable storage and right click it the first two options open and explore are random characters and also there would be random folders such as i ii iii - folders also that when opening folders they would open in new windows even though that setting is switched off I took my USB flash drive into work and put it in the computer and it showed up with a virus on it Also I burnt a CD and that CD had a virus on it as well Some of the other error messages were like this Quote quot not found the kernel library or kernel library is invalid quot Quote quot a program on your computer has corrupted your default search provider setting for internet explorer Internet explorer has reset this setting to your original search provider live search search live com internet explorer will now open search settings where you can change this setting or install more search providers quot So pretty much I spoke to my IT guy and he is like quot only option is to reformat quot so this is what I did last Friday and it fixed the problem no more weird error messages or random web sites popping up I even ran several malwarebytes scans to prove it I got to the stage mid week where I plugged my removable HDD in After leaving the computer copying files to a removable HDD i come back and there are two random internet sites open I run the malwarebytes scan and AVG turns up pretty much exactly the same issues as before format So I reason that there is an infection on the removable HDD which must have manifested itself while the computer was infected Now i notice that on one my my hard drives I have this random file which is the same as this http www techsupportforum com f ll- html I don't quite understand how that file could be located within a hard drive that isn't a system drive So basically now that I have given you all this information and before I go and reformat my computer for the second time in a week please let me know if it is a virus what virus is it possible to get rid of it and does any one know of anyone else who has said virus or is it just a particularly evil tracking program

A:iv got traking cookie virus

Hi,

Tracking Cookies are not terribly serious and you will almost always have some, they result as part of using the Internet and are not malware. Granted, they are not pleasant but can easily be gotten rid of. Problem is, they return, so you think they have not been taken care of.....

One thing to do is set Internet Explorer this way:

Top of any IE window open Tools or in Control Panel>Internet Options> Privacy tab

Press "Advanced"

Put a checkmark into the "Override automatic Cookie handling"
Make sure there is a checkmark in the "Always allow Session cookies"

And, put the dotmark into "First Party Cookies= Allow" and,

"Third Party= Block" OK twice......to close up the windows.

Next:
When you are wanting to scan with a spyware removing program for example, or do something else that involves the system making changes.....you need to turn of SpyBot's TeaTimer feature as it can prevent these changes. Here is how:

Over on our Security Help Tools page we have a list of things and one of them is

How to temporarily turn off protective programs when fixing malware...

Go down that page till you come to "SPYBOT TEATIMER" and do what it says to turn off Tea Timer
And, you probably should also turn off AdAware's AdWatch temporarily. Directions at same place as above

Then Update and run a full or complete scan with MalwareBytes AntiMalware.

You may also benefit from using a good temp file cleanup program (free) like this one:

ATF CLEANER
Download ATFCleaner by Atribune & save it to your desktop. DO NOT use it yet. We will use it in Safe Mode, later
As you probably know, deleting Cookies can result in you having to type in your username and passwords at ALL sites that use logins, like this site does, so if you willy nilly delete cookies, which is safe enough to do, you will have to re-establish these cookies and login the first time you visit any site like that.
ATF Cleaner has a way to save those cookies you would like to keep but it will require some time. If you DO KNOW or have saved all your Passwords and login usernames you can delete all cookies.

* Restart your computer into safe mode now.To get into the Windows 2000 / XP Safe mode, as the computer is booting press and hold your "F8 Key" which should bring up the "Windows Advanced Options Menu"
Use your arrow keys to move to "Safe Mode" and press your Enter key.

Next, start up ATFCleaner:

Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
If you use Firefox browser
Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
If you use Opera browser
Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
Restart the computer.

Hi,

I am new to this site so sorry if I am posting in the wrong section!

So I have both bitdefender and AVG free installed on my laptop, both of which i installed when i realised i had a virus. Before then i was just using the pre-installed anti-virus software. AVG says the virus is a tracking coookie smartadserver and has located it to the inetcookies folder which is empty. Every day I get at least 8 new pop up warnings telling me there has been another one found and every scan i do it finds minimum 4 every time. My computer is relatively new, just 6 months old, and it is performing terribly so i know that i definitely do have a virus.

Please help someone! I have exhausted all of my very limited knowledge of removing viruses and don't have the money to get it sorted by a professional.

Thanks in advance,

Greg

Hello Crimson Fury and welcome to Bleeping Computer.
My name is Satchfan and I would be glad to help you with your computer problem. Please read the following guidelines which will help to make cleaning your machine easier:
please follow all instructions in the order posted
please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine appears to be clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear
all logs/reports, etc. must be posted in Notepad. Please ensure that word wrap is unchecked. In Notepad click Format, uncheck Word wrap if it is checked
if you don't understand something, please don't hesitate to ask for clarification before proceeding
the fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine.
please reply within 3 days. If you do not reply within this period I will post a reminder but topics with no reply in 4 days will be closed!
IMPORTANT:
Please DO NOT install/uninstall any programs unless asked to.
Please DO NOT run any scans other than those requestedMultiple antiviruses
Yoy say you have AVG and BitDefender antivirus programs installed.
You can not run two real-time antiviruses at the same time. Although many have different methods of searching for and recognising threats, they will all be 'fighting' in memory to kick each other out, rendering them all ineffective.
You need to disable one until we’re finished.
Open the AVG Control Center, by right-clicking on the AVG icon on task bar.
click on Tools
select Advanced
in the left hand pane, scroll down to "Resident Shield".
in the main pane, deselect the option to "Enable Resident Shield."
===================================================Note: Please run these in the order given in the instructions.
===================================================Download and run AdwCleaner
Download AdwCleaner from here and save it to your desktop.
run AdwCleaner
when it has finished, select Clean
if it asks to reboot, allow the reboot
on reboot a log will be produced; please attach the content of the log to your next reply.
===================================================Download and run Junkware Removal Tool Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8; instead of double-clicking, right-mouse click JRT.exe and select "Run as Administrator"
the tool will open and start scanning your system
please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications
on completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open
post the contents of JRT.txt into your next message.
===================================================Run Farbar Recovery Scan Tool
Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.
right click to run as administrator (XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File). When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
press Scan button
it will produce a log called Frst.txt in the same directory the tool is run from
please copy and paste log back here.
the first time the tool is run it generates another log (Addition.txt - also located in the same directory as FRST.exe/FRST64.exe). Please also paste that along with the Frst.txt into your reply.
Logs to include with next post:AdwCleaner log
JRT.txt
Frst.txt
Addition.txt
Thanks
Satchfan

A:Lost cause! Spyware/malware/any kinda virus/trojan/tracking cookie seems to like me.

It llooks like you've done a good job -

Turn off restore points, boot, turn them back on – here’s how

XP
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPOR...2001111912274039?OpenDocument&src=sec_doc_nam

That should clear up the reports of things found
================
DownLoad EasyCleaner http://www.majorgeeks.com/download414.html

Use the clear files and Unnecessary files buttons – I do not recommend
using the Duplicates files button as many dupes are there on purpose.

Not all files will delete – that is normal.

In the unnecessary button I check the top 4 entries

Empty the recycle bin
========
Get all of these and/or verify you have the current versions

SpywareBlaster 3.5 http://majorgeeks.com/download2859.html
SpyBot V1.4 http://www.majorgeeks.com/download2471.html
AdAware SE 1.06 http://www.majorgeeks.com/download506.html
MS AntiSpy - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...a2-6a57-4c57-a8bd-dbf62eda9671&displaylang=en (XP and W2K only)

DownLoad them (they are free), install them, check each for their
definition updates and then run AdAware, MS AntiSpy (W2k/XP) and Spybot, fixing anything
they say.

In SpywareBlaster - Always enable all protection after updates
In SpyBot - After an update run immunize

Q: atdmt

I've just noticed a couple of threads on atdmt and people's concerns about it.

As most of you know this is a tracking cookie. This is normally dropped onto your browser after you've viewed or clicked on an ad, and/or just completed an application/purchase online.

While they're not harmful, they do track how you traverse throughout the net, and you may see ads that are more relevant based on your particular details, or past (purchasing) behaviour.

To avoid having them on your machine, set your browser to reject third party cookies and clear your cache/cookies on a regular basis. Alternatively try contacting Atlas, but don't bet your lifesavings on it..

How do I know this? I worked there

I m posting about my experience today with quot ATDMT com quot interfering with my online usage locking up my computer while I was trying to address and send an email via earthlink net I was waiting for the email program to load and after a few minutes I noticed that this address beginning with ATDMT com ATDMT.com was controlling my computer and exercising the hard drive to the point that nothing else could load So I just unplugged the comm line and it stopped of course I was concerned because it looked to me like some kind of virus that was downloading all of the data on my drive Turns out it was doing just that copying my usage history After googling ATDMT com I found that other users had the same complaint asking for help defining exactly what it was some forums said it was harmless while others gave advice on how to block it A few of the concerned users were on this site that s how I was led here and decided to register and post because there ATDMT.com seemed to be a number of conflicting opinions on ATDMT com activity Personally after seeing the way it locked up my computer today I m looking for advice on how to completely block it and all of it s variants So as many on this forum probably already know ATDMT com belongs to ATLAS SOLUTIONS not too recently aquired by Microsoft I m posting this information for those who don t know the source and think they may have picked up some kind of BOT or Virus Atlas Solutions collects user traffic data anonymously they claim for Microsoft and others Atlas has a quot PRIVACY POLICY quot that is available to read here http www atlassolutions com privacy aspx This is really an education for anyone who hasn t seen it Microsoft pitches the capabilities of Atlas and similar variants as the solution to advertisers visibility into the online habits of potential customers and they have multiple ways of slicing and dicing it The Privacy Policy talks a lot about cookies and anonymous data collection What I thought was funny was that if you want to OPT OUT of their data collection activity the only way they can do it is to PLACE A COOKIE on your computer that tells it s harvesting programs quot Don t Enter Here quot What a joke http www atlassolutions com privacy aspxIf anyone has anything to add I d appreciate hearing about it Thanks Much BlindEye

When I access this site, I have noticed in addition to Avenue A. Com, atdmt.com also appears as a malicious cookie in AdSubtract.
What are your thoughts?

Download a program like Spyware Blaster which doesn't use system resources and keeps junk like that out..

I am on Vista and I use Firefox as a browser. My computer shows signs of adware or something that causes various problems. I.E. Hitting reply on email (yahoo) and no cursor showing up to reply. Random extremely slow page loading etc. The "spe.atdmt.com" is the only suspicious name that I see on the bottom of the page when I have problems. It does not show up in my cookie menu and I can't find a way to get rid of it. Both of my spyware scans (super anti spyware and malwarebyte) are coming up clean. Can anyone help me get rid of this cookie? I don't know if that is the problem, but it couldn't hurt to get rid of it. Thanks in advance!

Also:

To download HJTsetup.exe from SpyKiller To Download HijackThis go to the following at the File Repository
Click on the link below to Download HijackThis Self Installer:

http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/HJTsetup.exe

Save the file to your desktop.
Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\HijackThis.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialog boxes until you get to the Select Additional Tasks dialog.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialog box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
At the top of the Notepad HJT log screen, hit Edit then Select All then click Edit and then click Copy doing that copies the text to the clipboard, you won't see it yet....
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply. DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
A security expert with a gold shield to the right of their name should take a look at your log - please be patient.

A:Atdmt and 2o7

Good evening. This link is a good read on cookies, but if you prefer the simpler version:Cookies are text files placed on your system by various websites and although they can be easily removed, if you go back to the site(s) that put them there in the first place, they will put them there again and you'll have to remove them again. The only way to avoid a particular cookie is to avoid the site that puts it on your system.Consider them to be the computing equivalent of the hangover and you have to decide whether they are sufficiently bad to stop you doing what causes them in the first place - obviously the hair of the dog doesn't work with cookies, or hangovers either in my opinion.I hope this goes some way to answering your query.

Yesterday I carried out what proved to be an unsuccessfull installation of Search and Recover 4 from iolo on my new PC which is running Vista Home Premium. S&R just won't run and I've contacted iolo technical support.

Soon after the failed install I realised that some of my protection had become disabled and although I re-enabled it immediately I then hit a problem with Internet Explorer. At random it kept jumping to a Google search for "view.atdmt.com\(random entries)"

Someone on Google suggested I block "atdmt.com" and I've done that which has improved the situation. Has anyone else had problems with Search and Recover 4/Vista and do I need to do anything else to my machine to get rid of atdmt.com completely?

A:Atdmt problem!

Cookies are text string messages given to a Web browser by a Web server. Whenever you visit a web page or navigate different pages with your browser, the web site generates a unique ID number which your browser stores in a text (cookie) file that is sent back to the server each time the browser requests a page from that server. Cookies allow third-party providers such as ad serving networks, spyware or adware providers to track personal information. The main purpose of cookies is to identify users and prepare customized Web pages for them.Persistent cookies have expiration dates set by the Web server when it passes the cookie and are stored on a user's hard drive until they expire or are deleted. These types of cookies are used to store information between visits to a site and collect identifying information about the user such as surfing behavior or preferences for a specific web site.Session (transient) cookies are not saved to the hard drive, do not collect any information and have no set expiration date. They are used to temporarily hold information in the form of a session identification stored in memory as you browse web pages. These types of cookies are cached only while a user is visiting the Web server issuing the session cookie and are deleted from the cache when the user closes the session. The type of persistent cookie that is a cause for some concern are "tracking cookies" because they can be considered a privacy risk. These types of cookies are used to track your Web browsing habits (your movement from site to site). Ad companies use them to record your activity on all sites where they have placed ads. They can keep count of how many times you visited a web page, store your username and password so you don't have to log in and retain your custom settings. When you visit one of these sites, a cookie is placed on your computer. Each time you visit another site that hosts one of their ads, that same cookie is read, and soon they have assembled a list of which of their sites you have visited and which of their ads that you have clicked on. They are used all over the Internet and advertisement companies often plant them whenever your browser loads one of their banners. Cookies are NOT a "threat". Cookies cannot be used to run code or to deliver viruses to your computer. As text files they cannot be executed to cause any damage. Cookies do not cause any pop ups or install malware. As long as you surf the Internet, you are going to get cookies and some of your security programs will flag them for removal. However, you can minimize this by referring to:Blocking & Managing Unwanted CookiesBlock Third-Party Cookies in IE7Enough is Enough! A:Help! View.atdmt.com Redirect?!

A belated hello gt9084,

The key in what you said is "certain websites". That ad maker is from an ad server used by those websites. Scroll down here to the IE Hosts file listing, and you can use that to block many ad server IP's, including some from atdmt.com.

Hi and welcome to TSG,

I accidentally deleted your posts when combining them both together.

I apologize for that and am reposting it here for you.

Hello,

I am new here and I have a question. Starting two days ago everytime I get on the internet when I go to certain pages, part of the page will load and then I get an alert that says, "operation timed out trying to connect to view.atdmt.com". I click ok and the rest of the page loads. I have a DSL line and this greatly increases the time it takes a page to load. Since this started happening I cannot even open CNN.com or Google.com. Also some of my emails, the pictures will not load. This happens when I run Firefox 1.0 or IE.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!Click to expand...

I tried the updates, but it didn't help.

Internet explorer is not working, will not open most pages.
Any ideas what is going on?

My understanding is cookies from atdmt.com are I.E. and Live Mail and are in partnership with Microsoft. Removing them is easy but keeping them from coming back is the problem I'm having. Other than being a tracking cookie what else do they do. If I could stop them would their be ill effects? Googling I have found this problem has been around for years. Every site has methods to stop them but when continuing to read proves that they don't work. So two questions.
1. The best way to stop them
2. Will their be ill effects when using I.E. or Live Mail.
Note: I use I.E. for my banking.

A:Microsofts atdmt.com cookies

I use Live Mail and Microsoft Partnership and have no cookies coming back from atdmt.com. These are the settings on my PC:block cookies from the site
DNT+ BHO
Ghostery BHO
There's no problem accessing Live Mail with IE9. If in your case it keeps coming back, you could try adding this to the "host" file:

Code:

127.0.0.1 atdmt.com
That ought to prevent any browser connection to atdmt.com...

Note: I use IE as my main browser...

In Internet Explorer go to tools drop down to Internet options go to privacy > click advanced > that said tic the box in first party cookies that says prompt > third party cookies click block >.click O.k. = Done.

Now atdmt needs your permission to climb aboard...

Hello everyone.
My computer is running very slow and when I visit most sites, the address bar shows http://view.atdmt.xxxxx before the sites address, while slowly loading the page. A quick search on the net says it is adaware. I've tried a lot of things to get rid of it, but can't.... Please help.

PC is running winxp sp2. I also run avg(free) and avg antispyware(free) and spybot sd-resident.

Is there a solution?

Thanks,
Wayne (bogged)

I've been having issues accessing some sites the last few days. Everytime I try to access these sites, I get redirected to a Google/Dell page that says it could not find a site that starts with "view.atdmt.com." I disabled a program called CBrowserHelperObject through the Internet Explorer - Manage Add-Ons menu, but the sites still won't come up and the "Cannot find server" message appears. Please help!

A:Sex Tracker and A Adaware

Welcome to TSF.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that 'Display the contents of system folders' is checked. Windows XP's search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that Search system folders, Search hidden files and folders, and Search subfolders are checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

If you have a fast internet connection (broadband), run an online virus scan at TrendMicro http://uk.trendmicro-europe.com/ente...all_launch.php. Just follow the instructions on the site to run the online scan. If any viruses/trojans are detected, try to delete or clean them in that site. Otherwise, make sure your antivirus program has the latest definitions and run a full system scan.

Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up). Make sure to close any open browsers.

Go to Start->Run and type in services.msc and hit OK. Then look for Remote Administrator Service (r_server) and double click on it. Click on the Stop button and under Startup type, choose Disabled.

Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click Kill process for each one if they are still listed (they shouldn't be - but double check it):

C:\WINNT\system32\userinit32.exe

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer,SearchURL = http://searchmiracle.com/sp.php
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://searchmiracle.com/sp.php
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://searchmiracle.com/sp.php
F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=userinit.exe,userinit32.exe
O23 - Service: Remote Administrator Service (r_server) - Unknown owner - C:\WINNT\system32\r_server.exe" /service (file missing)

Delete the following Files/Folders (delete folders if no filename is specified) according to their directory (if none, just do a search for them) and delete them if they exist:

C:\WINNT\system32\userinit32.exe - delete the file exactly as shown here
C:\WINNT\system32\r_server.exe

Reboot into Normal Mode and run new HijackThis scan. If there were some entries that didn't show up in Safe Mode, you may check and fix those that appear now in normal mode (if you do that, make sure to run a new scan again). Save the log file and run KRC HijackThis Analyzer in the same folder to get the result.txt log. Just post the contents of the result.txt file in the forum.

Please download SmitfraudFixDouble-click SmitfraudFix.exeSelect option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present). Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Download WinPFInd http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/file...r/WinPFind.zip and extract it to your C:\ folder. This will create a folder called WinPFind in the C:\ folder.

Download Track qoo http://www.geekstogo.com/downloads/Trackqoo.zip
Save it somewhere you will remember like the Desktop. Unzip the Track qoo.vbs inside to your desktop. DO NOT run it yet!

Reboot into Safe Mode
Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.!

Inside C:\WinPFind is a file called WinPFind.exe. Double-click on this file to launch the program. Once it is launched, click on the Start Scan button and wait for it to finish. This program will scan large amounts of files on your computer for known patterns so please be patient while it works as it can take a while, upwards to 30 minutes or more.! Once the Scan is Complete it will make a txt file (log) of what was found.

1. Go to the WinPFind folder
2. Locate WinPFind.txt
3. Please post those results in your next post!

REBOOT to normal mode.

Double Click on "Track qoo.vbs"

Note - If you Antivirus has Script Blocking, you will get a Pop Up Windows asking you what to do. Allow this Entire Script to Run, its harmless!

Wait a few seconds and a notepad page will pop up, Copy & Paste those results and place them in the next post along with the results of WinPFind!

So I need the following tool logs..

WinPFind.txt log
Track qoo.vbs log

I had "pest tracker" appear on my computer and has been acting strange ever since. I have deleted the program, run AVG rootkit, spyware and virus check several times since and am still not right, the spyware will only run in safe mode. I am running Windows XP and the users show having administraor rights but when I go to do any administrative tasks I am blocked. I have noticed that all of my 'KB....' files in windows were created about 2 weeks ago in the middle of the night and there are matching hidden '$KB...uninstall' folders created at the same time.

Please read and follow all instructions in the pinned topic titled "Preparation Guide For Use Before Posting A Hijackthis Log". You may have performed some of these steps already. If you can't perform a step, then skip and continue with the next. In step #9 there are instructions for downloading HijackThis and creating a log. (This is a self-extracting version which will automatically install HJT in the proper location.) If HijackThis will not run, try renaming it. Open the HijackThis Folder, right-click on the HijackThis.exe file and rename it Scanner.exe. Double-click on Scanner.exe (which is still HijackThis) and then run your scan. If needed, change the .exe to something else such as .bat, .com, .pif, or .scr. Example: Scanner.bat or Scanner.comWhen you have done that, post your log in the HijackThis Logs and Malware Removal forum, NOT here, for assistance by the HJT Team Experts. A member of the Team will walk you through, step by step, on how to clean your computer. If you post your log back in this thread, the response from the HJT Team will be delayed because your post will have to be moved. This means it will fall in line behind any others posted that same day. Start a new topic, give it a relevant title and post your log along with a brief description of your problem, a summary of any anti-malware tools you have used and a summary of any steps that you have performed on your own. Please include the top portion of the HijackThis log that lists version information. An expert will analyze your log and reply with instructions advising you what to fix. After doing this, we would appreciate if you post a link to your log back here so we know that your getting help from the HJT Team. Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response because the HJT Team members are very busy working logs posted before yours. They are volunteers who will help you out as soon as possible. Once you have made your post and are waiting, please DO NOT "bump" your post or make another reply until it has been responded to by a member of the HJT Team. Generally the staff checks the forum for postings that have 0 replies as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response there will be 1 reply. A team member, looking for a new log to work may assume another HJT Team member is already assisting you and not open the thread to respond. If after 5 days you still have received no response, then post a link to your HJT log in the thread titled "Haven't Had A Reply In Five Days?".

I seem to have the MS Juan and MS Tracker amongst other things going on with my machine since yesterday. I have since ran malwarebytes, ad aware and spybot. They all find and kill stuff but I am still getting trojan popups from Avast, as well as returning ms juan and tracker in malwarebytes.

This is the first time this has happened to me and I am unsure of what to do next to try to clean my machine up, any help would be greatly appreciated. I can post logs of my previous scans if you wish.

Thank you.

I use Firefox as my web browser. It updated itself to version 3.0.4 the other day. Having done so it warned me that my version of sotfone tracker was not compatible with the latest version of Firefox. I contacted Firefox and they pointed me in the direction of bleepingcomputer.com. I did a full scan using my KIS 2009 AV suite and nothing was reported as a problem. Then I contacted Kaspersky and they just want me to send them a screen dump of the Firefox message which I can't do until the next update (according to Firefox). Having Googled sotfone tracker I suspect that it is a Trojan of some kind.

How do I get rid of it? I am very much a novice at this so if you can help me please lead me gently through the maze.

Welcome to BC.Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.Make sure you are connected to the Internet.Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:Update Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareLaunch Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareThen click Finish.MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan. If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.Back at the main Scanner screen, click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad. The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you may be asked to reboot your computer so it can proceed with the disinfection process. Regardless if prompted to restart the computer or not, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally (not into safe mode) will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware. MBAM may make changes to your registry as part of its disinfection routine. If you're using other security programs that detect registry changes, they may alert you after scanning with MBAM. Please permit the program to allow the changes.

I have a law office and think my system may have been hacked by a competor or Im just psychotic. Either way thought I'd look into the above question and see what the smart folks thoughts were and at worst maybe kick this old dog of a computer back in gear and make it worth using again. SO assuming I was hacked I tried first to rid the eval bug but evil malware instead - cheap bastard that I am - then I figured hey I'll just learn programing cause I got such a good grade when I took BASIC in 1983 should be no sweat. Fools rush in they say. ANyway had the benefit of at least taking my brain off idle and getting me intrested in something again. Therefore, if theres a Guru out there willing to put me through the paces it'd be appreciated.

Hi All

I had a very good working Gmail tracker that I had used for several weeks, and I had to do a recover and it deleted the program on me. I remember it's title was a very short one, and it worked great and it was a freebie. I think I picked up on it through Cnet or one of the other newsletters I get.

I have looked all through my program files, downloads, etc and It is gone. I can find plenty of notifiers out there but I am wanting a program theat lets you know when the person you are sending an e-mail to receives it.

So if anyone knows of one, either a freebie or a pay one let me know about it. I appreciate it.

Thanx......Gunny
