Computer crashes increasingly often

Q: Computer crashes increasingly often

A few months ago my computer started crashing when playing games. The screen would turn either black, white, (or once pink), the fan/fans would max out, and the audio would just change to a loud buzzing sound. This would continue until the laptop was turned off.
Around that time, one of my hard drives was failing. We thought, seeing as it fitted so well, that it was the problem. I've just had the hard drives replaced, and while it was running perfectly for a few days, it has now started to crash again, and far more frequently. Most of the time just after the desktop loads.

I'm currently running in safe mode, and that's perfectly fine. No crashing.
I've tried disabling my audio drivers, and rolling back my video card driver, but with no success. I'm assuming that as safe mode has no problems that it must relate to a driver, or, some software, but I have no real clue what I'm talking about.

My video card is the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580M, if that's important. No idea what other information to include. Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

Preferred Solution: Computer crashes increasingly often

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Go to C:\windows\minidump. Minidump files have a .dmp extension. If there are any .dmp files, select them all and right-click, sending the files to a compressed(zipped)folder. Upload this folder as file here

Hi.

In the last months, I've been experiencing an increasing number of BSOD crashes, which now happen on a daily bases.
In addition to that, my system (Windows 7 pro 64 bit) for some reason stopped saving minidump files, as of last september. I am therefore enclosing my Event Viewer administrative logs too.

Thanks for the help,
Giorgio

Dell dimension 5100 running Windows xp.  Computer suddenly became slow about a month ago and it's getting slower.  Have run many virus/malware scans (malwarebytes, superantispyware, adcleaner, rkill, roguekiller, combofix) and problem persists.  Takes 5-10 minutes from xp splash screen to start button/taskbar. Broadband speed on this computer is erratic (12 mbps possible - running at 1.5 mbsp this afternoon).  Please advise!

A:Increasingly slow computer!

You can check your system drive to see whether it is full or not. Also, try to defrag your hard drive. That is the easiest way. However, if it is the computer internal problem, it is not an easy thing to solve that problem.

Hello bunghole,Welcome to Bleeping Computer Please be sure you AVG antispware is updated.Next, please reboot your computer into Safe Mode by doing the following:Reboot your computer. After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but just before the Windows icon appears, begin tapping the F8 key on your keyboard. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. Because of my computer slowing down, I decided to try kaspersky to see if I had any virusus. nothing.
I've run defrag, ccleaner, advanced system care 5

Every time I burn a DVD video disc (from my hard drive) it slows down my computer to an almost unbearable situation. Just as opening my file manager (Nomad.NET) or my text editor as simple as Notepad++ takes time. Just clicking a tab every time I go back to notepad++ takes a minute or two.

Do you have any clue what's going on? You can see my computer specs (farther down) that I have enough of computer power to make a smooth burning process. There's gotta be something wrong, I'm almost sure of it.

I'm using NERO burning Rom 11.

My System Specs (PC):

CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+
Motherboard: MSI MS-7250
RAM: 6,00 GB
Hard Drive: SAMSUNG HD401LJ SCSI Disk Device (SATA)
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium

A:My DVD burning slows down my computer increasingly

As you are burning a "video disc", the original files have to converted into a DVD spec video format. The conversion process uses 100% cpu. You can verify by simply opening Task Manager and seeing which application is using the cpu processes.

You may be able to change the processing priority in the Nero options, which will help some, but it will increase the conversion time.

A:Too many processes? Computer is increasingly slower- Hijack Log

Between IObit Advanced SystemCare 5 and CCleaner and whatever other "cleaners" that you've been using, you've probably damaged the Windows operating system and broken some of your programs and basically wreaked havoc with your computer.

You're complaining about speed/performance issues and not infection/virus issues, so you should've posted this in the "Windows 7" section.

HiJackThis 2.0.4 doesn't work properly with the 64-bit version of Windows, so the log is inaccurate and lacks information.

Hi everyone This is my first post here so I apologize in advance for any newbie mistakes I ll start off with what specs I was able to gather computers - A PC wireless laptop running Windows XP with service pack a wireless disconnections, bad Increasingly mostly wireless Macintosh laptop running Mac OS X version and a desktop PC running Windows XP not sure on the SP I can t easily get to that computer and using a direct connection to the router Modem - Siemens SpeedStream Ethernet ADSL Modem Router - D-Link model WBR- Our ISP is AT amp T and the PC laptop and desktop usually use the AOL program for netsurfing This is going to be a very long story as it s been going on for several Increasingly bad disconnections, mostly wireless weeks now We ve done so many things and my memory isn t the greatest and I m not the most computer-smart person but I ll try to explain the best I can So it all started back when I noticed the PC laptop running very slow and sluggishly logging into AOL slowly having trouble loading pages etc Then it started to disconnect and reconnect quickly It was enough to knock me off AOL but I didn t notice any sort of quot your network connection was lost quot -type messages popping up from the net connection icon Still it was very annoying I asked my sister if she and her husband s desktop was having the same trouble and she said yes As for my Mac it was fine except for some trouble loading pages sometimes which would require shutting down the Safari browser or sometimes restarting the computer in order to get it loading correctly again Finally we got frustrated enough to call up AT amp T about it They said all their checks showed everything was fine Eventually it was decided that since it was very old we may need a new router so we bought one But while it helped some with the speed we kept disconnecting and it started popping up the quot network connection has been lost quot sorts of messages from the net connection icon We called again and they couldn t give any answer except that maybe our modem was bad It was old so we bought a new one Unfortunately the problem persisted It was sometimes required for me to use the Repair option to get the connection going again but other times it would get going on its own The directly-connected desktop seemed to be having even more trouble getting knocked off very frequently However my Mac didn t seem too much more affected than before besides occassionally dropping the connection but being quickly fixable So we called again and someone at AT amp T tested our DSL line and she reported that we did appear to have a problem Someone was sent out and he used a device to test the lines He said it was reading errors and that many packets were being dropped Our house had many old phonejacks and lines so he replaced those even some of the underground lines and replaced a box I guess the circuit box But still the problem persisted We called him again and he suggested disconnecting a phone that had a lot of interference when listened to which we did it was old and mostly unused anyway But still no improvement While poking around the computer I noticed that our default connection was set as AOL Dial-up which seemed wrong since we don t use dial-up So we contacted AT amp T again and someone walked us through several steps that included direct-connecting and deleting many things from the Network Connections window Eventually that all resulted in the wireless signal being detected and fine but we couldn t get online The person said they couldn t help us anymore and that we should call D-Link The person at D-Link had us direct-connect go to Start Run and then put it quot cmd quot which brought up a black box that listed information such as IP addresses She asked for those and then told us we needed a quot bridge quot We had to contact AT amp T again to do the first part and then contacted D-Link again to finish it The man on the phone that last time told us that our modem had been acting as ... Hi there,

In recent weeks I have been getting BSOD's with increasing frequency.

First it was once a week, then twice etc.
Today for the first time I have had two in one day!!

Please can someone help me identify the cause of the problem:

OS - Windows 7 Professional
? x64
? It's always been the same version of windows.
? This is an OEM version (came pre-installed on system)
? 3y
? 3y

? i7-2600k
? ATI AMD radeon HD 6900
? ASUS P8Z68-V (LGA1155)
? OCZ ZS series 750W

? Overclockers UK
? Build to order

A:BSOD increasingly frequent!

The latest dump files are from 2013, please check for any new ones.
Go to C:/Windows/minidump to check

Also, there might be a new Kernel memory dump.
Check here:

C:/Windows/MEMORY.dmp

Upload the minidumps here directly, the kernel memory dump will need to be uploaded to a file sharing site as it's too large. Onedrive is one of the best.

Hi there, recently I've been getting BSODs about once a day, before that one struck about three weeks ago for the first time since I bought the laptop (around June last year I believe).
I checked the update history around that date and there is nothing noteworthy, just a few security updates and MSE definition updates.
I've also had a look at the dumps in WinDbg and the "Most likely cause" seems to be inconsistent, and I'm afraid I don't have the technical expertise to dig and deeper than that :P.

Any help would be much appreciated, you seem like a friendly bunch on this forum!

A:Increasingly More Frequent BSODs

Hello Nytez, welcome to SF! Let's see if we can make your perception a reality....

First thing, dumps are good to look at but we can see more things quickly if you post full info:

Quote:
For us to help you better, please follow these instructions completely:
http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...tructions.html

Second, I know you think Windows update is ok but the dump says otherwise... there are quite a few standard W7 drivers that are unclear and should have been updated and timestamped by an up to date W7.. Please check that carefully:

Quote:
Please go to your Maintenance Center and check the Windows Update status. Make sure you are up to date, do them one by one manually if needed.
For help or reset see: Windows Update - Reset

Actually, the dumps are quite clear. Three of them point to PCI bus problems (or corresponding driver, and one claims a hardware error related to your harddisk. However, that could also be caused by a PCI error.

So the third thing you need to do is goto the manufacturer site of the mobo and update drivers for your board. I don't see any system spec's so I can't show you what or where...

Any help would be really appreciated. My last 2 crash dumps are attached.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Here are my specs, I don't know if that matters in this situation.

CPU: AMD 1090t 3.2ghz (not overclocked)
GPU: 2 x ATI HD 5770s
RAM: 8GB ddr3 1600mhz

Let me know if you need anything else.

A:Getting increasingly frequent BSOD. Please help.

Probably caused by : memory_corruption ( nt!MiReleaseConfirmedPageFileSpace+86 )

And the second one is 0xDE which could also be memory corruption

D/L Memtest+ burn it to a CD using a free program like Imgburn if you need one then boot from the CD to test the ram, let it run for at least 6 passes or until you see an error.

I also see AsIO.sys on your system it's a known trouble maker part of the Asus I/O suite, uninstall or update. The I/O suite can be found on the drivers page at Asus for your motherboard under Utilities.

A:Increasingly Worse Situation - Please Help

I'm sorry for bumping this before the 24 hours, but this post has fallen to the second page and it took my computer several attempts before successfully booting up just now. Not to say that I'm more important than anyone else, but my computer is absolutely vital as I'm a student. It's one thing to be slow, I can deal with that. But I need my computer to turn on at least and I'm fearful that might not be stable.

Thank you

Hi Everyone

I'm having a big problem with BSOD lately. It's been intermittent for a while bot now is happening more often. This kind of thing is way over my head and above my pay grade. I have a minidump file from a few minutes ago and I'm uploading it here. Please help me if there is someone out there that knows how to interperate this sort of thing. Please...and please again. LOL Thanks in advance. The instruction on the site said to attach the file to the post but when I try to "upload file" by click the button, it only allows me to select files of type that are not minidump. (.dmp). They seem to only be image formats and .zip files. Is it not possible to upload the minidump file here?

A:BSODs happening increasingly often

Go to C:\windows\minidump. Minidump files have a .dmp extension. Select all the files and right-click sending them to a compressed(zipped)folder. Upload that folder as a file here

A few months April of ' ago I had a problem that suddenly popped up where none of our users could render YouTube videos on IE nbsp I tried bypassing our proxy resetting settings clearing cache cookies history etc nbsp No joy You would get something unhelpful like the following As a workaround I pushed out a group policy to render youtube com videos in Flash instead of HTML by enforcing compatibility mode hostile increasingly towards IE YouTube on that domain nbsp Crisis averted However now IE gets stuck on the following message whereas in the past this would flash briefly before proceeding to the video So I have now unenforced this group policy and went back to HTML nbsp We still get the generic error message nbsp However if users just refresh the page and wait seconds the video will eventually play nbsp I'm getting more and more people on Win Edge and Edge doesn't have this issue as far as I YouTube increasingly hostile towards IE can tell nbsp However certain websites I'm looking at you government websites still require IE nbsp Anyone else experiencing this nbsp

Hi,

I'm getting BSOD's increasingly frequently. Most recently, while playing the game Fable 3. Two of the crashes appear to be tied to ntoskrnl.exe.

I have supplied paint images of crash dump reports below. Please advise me on what steps I should take to remidy the situation.

Thanks!

A:Please help with increasingly frequent BSODs

So I just realised that I didn't supply all the information requested in your instructions.

Please find attached the Windows_NT6_BSOD_jcgriff2 and the Sytem Health Report.

Some other basic spec info:

-x64
-Purchachesd from retailer, they installed it.
-The system and OS are about 18 months old

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Your issue is memory corruption and we suggest you run the free and safe Memtest on your RAM.

See the link below and follow the instructions. There is a newer version than what is listed; use the newer. If you need to see what the Memtest screen looks like go to reply #21. The third screen is the Memtest screen.

Step1 - Let it run for a LONG time. The rule is a minimum of 7 Passes; the more Passes after 7 so much the better. The only exception is if you start getting errors before 7 Passes then you can skip to Step 2.

There are 8 individual tests per Pass. Many people will start this test before going to bed and check it the next day.

If you have errors you have corrupted memory and it needs to be replaced.

Step 2 ? Because of errors you need to run this test per stick of RAM. Take out one and run the test. Then take that one out and put the other in and run the test. If you start getting errors before 7 Passes you know that stick is corrupted and you don?t need to run the test any further on that stick.

In the last couple of days Windows 10 (on an MS Surface Pro 4) starts to seriously annoy me!
Again and again I suddenly can't get a network connection! In such situation WiFi is typically disabled and refuses to be activated (i.e. no matter how often I click the icon, it remains dark, not light-blue) and the Ethernet connection is labeled as "Connected" but obviously is NOT. If I then reboot things are back to normal.
This starts really getting on my nerves!
So far to reliability and stability to Windows 10...

Hi I am running Windows Ultimate bit on a d graphic workstation Gb Ram cores and a nVidia Quadro video card The system is one year old purpose-built by professionals I have had some flaky graphics-card performance for a long time with the display driver crashing and restarting when switching between Photoshop and ds and increasingly Random BSOD's frequent Max but more recently the system took to bluescreeing Random and increasingly frequent BSOD's randomly After a Windows update on the th of February the situation became severe with programs failing to start particularly Skype for some reason but also browsers Image viewers after a reboot they would sometimes work for a while again and then crash Windows explorer itself started crashing for a while but came back to life after a reboot I have upgraded all my drivers and today I uninstalled all video drivers for the Quadro card and reverted to the original driver version that windows installed on it's own accord This is also a nVidia driver but old This has seemed to make the system much more stable but I still had a random Bluescreen when hovering the pointer over a normal web-page object a few minutes ago I have opened the computer checked for glitches and generally cleaned it inside - it appears ok and I have been able to run a window with HD-video parallel with a heavy d transformation in ds Max streaming youtube videos in a browser while letting photoshop do a batch filter operation all at the same time with no problem There are still BSOD's at random times like a flash from a clear blue sky I have included a zip with the health reports and dumps indicated in the forum rules section It's all in this zip and as I do not know how to interpret these myself I would be very grateful if someone with better knowledge in this regard would be able to offer his or her perspective on what I might do to stabilize my system Any info appreciated Best wishes Henrik

A:[SOLVED] Increasingly frequent BSODs, various codes

Hi,

SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (3b)

This indicates that an exception happened while executing a routine that transitions from non-privileged code to privileged code.

This error has been linked to excessive paged pool usage and may occur due to user-mode graphics drivers crossing over and passing bad data to the kernel code.

Code:

0: kd> ln fffff88013f8096c
(fffff880`13f80940) dxgmms1!VidMmDestroyAllocation+0x2c | (fffff880`13f809bc) dxgmms1!VidMmOpenAllocation
The exception occurred in dxgmms1!VidMmDestroyAllocation+0x2c. This is the DirectX MMS, specifically the video memory manager destroying allocations.

--------------------------------

1. AODDriver2.sys is listed and loaded in your modules list which is AMD Overdrive; also in EasyTune6 for Gigabyte motherboard. Known BSOD issues in Win7 & 8.

Please uninstall either software ASAP! If you cannot find either software to uninstall, or it's not installed, please navigate to the following filepath:

C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI.ACE\Fuel\amd64\AODDriver2.sys and rename AODDriver2.sys to AODDriver.2old and then Restart.

2. AppleCharger.sys is listed and loaded which is the GIGABYTE On/Off Charge driver. See here for details - GIGABYTE ON/OFF Charge

Very troublesome software, so please uninstall ASAP!

3. Remove and replace avast! with Microsoft Security Essentials for temporary troubleshooting purposes as it's very likely causing conflicts:

avast! removal - avast! Uninstall Utility | Download aswClear for avast! Removal

MSE - Microsoft Security Essentials - Microsoft Windows

4. Ensure you have the latest video card drivers. If you are already on the latest video card drivers, uninstall and install a version or a few versions behind the latest to ensure it's not a latest driver only issue. If you have already experimented with the latest video card driver and many previous versions, please give the beta driver for your card a try.

5. I see various Gigabyte bloatware installed, such as Easy Saver. These are unnecessary bloatware and I would uninstall all Gigabyte software ASAP.

Patrick

I am an 80 yr old computer duffer and have been experiencing an increasing number of BSODs that just seem to occur randomly.
All my drivers I believe have been checked and updated, have run Memory diagnostics, used system restore and system reinstall but nothing seems to get to the root of the problem(s)

Am enclosing Windows_NT6_BSOD_jcgriff2 folder & the PERFMON HTML file along with my system info as spelled out in the BSOD Posting instructions all in a BSOD.rar file.

Would appreciate any help.
Thanks dlddemon

A:BSODs occuring randomly and increasingly more frequent.

Before we can even begin to investigate you need to update or remove this driver. USBNUMP.sys. Yours is from 2002 (windows ME era) and it cant possibly work in win 7.

I would also run a malwarebytes scan just to be sure

Please download the free version of Malwarebytes.
Update it immediately.
Do a full system scan
Let us know the results at the end.

Malwarebytes : Download free malware, virus and spyware tools to get your computer back in shape!

I've been tweaking my computer since upgrading from Windows 7/64 to Windows 10 last week.

Although I'm seeing the fastest boot times that I've ever seen (47 seconds), my system is becoming very obviously sluggish when doing routine tasks such as emails and word processing.

My HD is at about 20% full and I have 8GB of RAM. What should I do to reduce CPU load and how can I determine where the bottleneck is?

TIA

Don

I've had the system seem to kill 3 out of 4 of my ram chips one by one over the past few months (they were fine for around 3 years prior to this) and while the last one tests as fine I'm still getting blue screen errors and random reboots/crashes.

At this point I just want to find the root of the problem so i can figure out what needs to be replaced or might be salvageable for a new build.

Hi, I built a gaming PC about a month ago and since then I have had about 7 BSOD incidents, they appear to be happening more frequently and so far I have not been able to find a fix.
1st BSOD: About 1 week after building PC, I was probably playing a game
2nd BSOD: 4 days ago, playing Witcher 3
3rd & 4th: 2 days ago, just web page browsing and playing a game
5th: Yesterday, again web browsing
6th: Today, web browsing
7th: Today, almost straight after reboot from the 6th crash
In the last week I have installed about 20 windows updates and appear to be currently up to date, I have used the command 'sfs/scannow' in the cmd and apparently my core files were all validated and I have also ran a full PC scan using AVG and no threats were found.
I would greatly appreaciate any help, thank you.
P.S. sorry if there is alot of irrelevant information?

This is an old computer I built myself around years ago Started getting BSOD about a month ago Just happened once and didn't think much of it Got another frequent problem, BSOD randomly, recent increasingly one a couple weeks later another about a week later and then this weekend the computer hits a BSOD any time BSOD randomly, recent problem, increasingly frequent I try to do much of anything Ran scans to check hard drive and memory with no results same with virus scans Eventually gave up and reinstalled windows but I'm still getting them BSOD seems to occur some what randomly but I think it started around the time I first got my new Razer Anansi keyboard I also just realized it seems to occur almost exclusively when I'm using it during periods of high load playing games installing software running scans etc It's the only thing that has changed about my system since I got it but seems to be working fine to type this so maybe I'm looking to much into it

My laptop has started acting up After booting it's working just great but over time video playback starts slowing down and it's related to download speed While I'm downloading videos start chopping and stuttering so Youtube is almost unusable and game performance is nil If I pause the video and wait for all of it to buffer it plays fine again If I reboot everything works fine for a few hours then the chopping again Playing files in WMP or VLC suffer the same problem Any kind of download in any app cause the same thing FTP transfers in Filezilla causes much less stuttering and uploading does not seem to cause anything at all I think it might be related to my video drivers because if I let it go on long enough my screen will sometimes blink and a bubble in the tray will tell me the video driver has stopped working but recovered again At this point the PC related slow speed Increasingly to download video, is almost completely unresponsive and it takes me several minutes to shut it down so I can reboot Also the problems seemed to start about the time I started using an additional monitor regularly I remember having similar issues with my desktop PC which is currently dead with a blown PSU It runs much the same software but has an nVidia gfx card and -bit Vista I fixed that by reinstalling Vista but I'm hoping I won't have to do that again The Task Manager says I have plenty of CPU and memory and there's nothing suspicious in the process list My laptop is an HP ProBook s with -Core Duo Ghz Increasingly slow video, related to download speed - Gb RAM -ATI Mobility Mb screen card -Mic webcam bluetooth bells whistles -All drivers directly from hp com I run Vista Ultimate -bit with all the quot important quot updates Norman Antivirus and Zonealarm Free Firewall both with automatic updates Just reinstalled display drivers Didn't help

A:Increasingly slow video, related to download speed

It seems to have fixed itself as I uninstalled Zonealarm (because it started bugging me about upgrading) and installed Comodo instead. Haven't had a stutter since. :)

In the last year I have had a slew of computer issues The most prominent however is a blue screen After the bsod crash my computer doesn t boot I can hear it attempt to start up then quit and it repeats that until I force turn it off Unfortunately the little speaker on my motherboard no longer beeps so I can t tell cmos to Increasingly common battery bsod probably connected you what beeps it gives If I poke the CMOS Increasingly common bsod probably connected to cmos battery battery a little bit the computer starts up again and keeps acts like nothing is wrong until it gets another bsod The battery seems to not be held in place well it wobbles quite a bit And in the last few days the bsod has only been occurring more and more often There have also been some strange visual problems with my primary monitor When the log in screen pops up it switches to a message saying something like quot input unsupported quot and I simply restart the monitor In the last few days the bsod has become more common and right before the crash I get lines or streaks of randomly colored pixels on the display And very rarely the monitor flashes that old black and white static you might see on a TV for a few moments This might not have anything to do with my bsod problem though just putting the information here in case Here is the information your TSG SysInfo tool got Tech Support Guy System Info Utility version OS Version Microsoft Windows Professional Service Pack bit Processor Intel R Core TM i - K CPU GHz Intel Family Model Stepping Processor Count RAM Mb Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce GTX - Mb Hard Drives C Total - MB Free - MB D Total - MB Free - MB Motherboard MSI Z -G GAMING MS- Antivirus Microsoft Security Essentials Updated and Enabled I have no reason to believe anything other than the motherboard is causing problems It was causing a bsod before about of every time I tried to launch league of legends until I updated some of the motherboards software The same software kept me from reaching adobe s download servers for unknown reasons Their tech guys were unable to help me with that one and I had to go with the classic re-install windows killer ethernet e if I remember correctly It hasn t been causing many problems recently though I made the mistake of doing a system restore which deleted all the most recent dump files I will attach an older one that may or may not have something to do with the problem I ll probably crash times tomorrow so I will upload those files when the come Thanks for any help If you need more information I ll let you know as soon as I can nbsp

A:Increasingly common bsod probably connected to cmos battery

It sounds like they put the wrong CMOS battery in your machine. I'd check the MB manufacturer for the right one and replace it. Also a lot of what you've mentioned sounds like a GPU issue. Please make sure it's seated tightly and drivers are up to date.

My computer started crashing when I would try to run Norton AV . Then it started crashing when viewing pictures and videos. Took to repair shop and they could only find some spyware. I told that that everything was backed up so to just refomat. They also tested my ram and said it was fine in the testing but suggested changing it if the problem continued. It started crashing agian soon after getting it home. I replaced my ram and it still crashes. However yesterday I did get a successful virus scan.. everything looked fine with that. It is and Asus bourd, AMD 2200, Win XP with all the current windows updates. Any help would be appreciated.

PS
I had this problem a year ago and it seemed that replaceing a ram stick fixed it. When researching that someone suggested it could be the cache on the mother board. Could that be possible?

A:Computer crashes. Have reformatted and changed ram, still crashes

hey dude i got a thing u can do first of all start the computer in safe mode then run your antivirus program and scan
next if there are any viruses that have been found you can then remove them
once done reboot and try scaning again but in normal mode to see if the problem has been fixed

Hello there BC I've posted this before elsewhere but after further diagnostics I'm none-the-wiser about what is going on and how to troubleshoot further This is a problem that has plagued me for about a fortnight now and things aren't improving at all Details A few days ago I started getting crashes audio loss cursor no longer moving no keyboard presses did anything followed by Windows kinda resuming but operating slower and almost glitchier The taskbar would only work on and off other times I couldn't click anything on there I have firefox open nearly all the time and this issue has only happened when it has been open It is fully updated What happens next is after the big freeze firefox is covered in a checkerboard glitch pic http i imgur com Dvs o j jpg pic http i imgur com Qja MKC jpg Also I use Chrome at the same time with no glitches or major issues there unlike becomes freezes PC "checkerboard" glitch slower and major increasingly with ends in my firefox browser nor in any other programs After this my pc seems to continue freezing up to the point where I have to manually turn it off at the front Minimising firefox gets rid of the visual glitch on my screen when I reopen firefox some of the glitch remains When I scroll it PC becomes increasingly slower ends with major "checkerboard" glitch and freezes adds to the glitch If the PC does this weird crash and firefox is minimised there will be no checkerboard until I open up firefox from my taskbar again and even still sometimes it won't even result in the checkerboard Also when the performance is this slow the taskbar stops responding almost completely sometimes it'll work though Typing things gives a super delayed input too Minimised programs won't seem to re-open or if they do they just do not respond Turning my PC off on the front restores functionality immediately upon reboot until the next time it crashes usually hours I've also noticed that sometimes when it's close to crashing video streams will not load immediately like Youtube showing the something went wrong error message if left for a few seconds it loads as per usual and the message is gone When doing file searches or when I tried to do a virus scan I noticed the computer REALLY slow down during the search instead of zooming through hundreds of files a second it got to the point where it struggled getting through KB log files from my backup software etc Steps I've taken to diagnose I've changed my PSU my old one had gotten noisy so I was actually going to replace this anyway I've pulled each of my sticks of RAM and let the computer run on each of them separately I've removed my video card and tried a different one a EVGA ti I've checked everything is in good order visually inside my case I've ran CPU stress tests via prime I've ran GPU stress tests I've checked the event viewer but I've seen nothing jump out as unusual especially in the System category I've tried different PC becomes increasingly slower ends with major "checkerboard" glitch and freezes and clean installing graphics drivers Firefox has been uninstalled crashing slowing down still occurs and updated Chkdsk has been ran on my drives Made a note of my temps upon the time I've crashed http puu sh nEosH cb ed png My specs MOBO Asus P Z -V LX ATX LGA CPU Intel i K not OC GPU MSI GB and also tested a EVGA ti GPU Driver RAM Corsair Vengeance GB x GB PSU Corsair Builder Series CXM W Modular PLUS SSD Samsung GB HHD WD Black TB OS Windows bit I really would like to fix this for once and all so if you require further details from me please ask I'm lost here I really am Thank you for all you do if this isn't quite the right forum if you could move it that'd be appreciated thank you for your time and expertise

A:Svchost.exe Extreme Memory Usage Crashes Computer When Computer Idle

Hi there, please run Combofix:Please download Combofix (by sUBs) and save it to your Desktop.Disable the realtime-protection of your antivirus and anti-malware programs because they might interfere with the scan.Start Combofix.exe and follow its instructions.Do not use the computer while the scan is running. This may cause the program to stall. When finished, a log file will be displayed (that can also be found at C:\Combofix.txt).Please copy and paste the contents of this file into your next post.Note: If you receive an error "Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion." after the scan, just restart the computer.(You can find more detailed instructions in this guide on using Combofix.)

A:[SOLVED] Can't open My Computer/Documents/Control Panel -computer crashes

Hi Anamarija and welcome to TSF !

Does the problem also happen in safe mode ?

Unplug all your USB devices. Use a PS/2 mouse and keyboard for the time of the troubleshooting.

Go to start => run and type chkdsk c: /R. You'll be prompted to restart the computer. Tell us if it finds any errors on the hard drive. If you couldn't see the scan's results you'll find them in the event viewer under application in the latest winlogon entry (click on the title of the source column to sort them alphabetically).

Did the BSOD or the errors in the eventviewer mention any .exe, .dll or .sys file ?

We'll need the .dmp files that you'll find in c:\windows\minidump, problem is you may not be able to browse your drive to zip and attach them with your computer. Copy them to some floppy or usb drive using the command prompt : start => run => cmd. Type copy c:\windows\minidump\*.dmp x: x being the volume letter that corresponds to your usb or floppy drive. Then with another computer zip them and attach the .zip file to your next post using the manage attachments button.

Double click the errors in the event viewer, click on the third button on the right (this copies the information in the memory) and right-click => paste the complete error message here.

Go to start => run and type devmgmt.msc. See if there are any devices with a red cross, yellow exclamation point or whatever in front of their name. If you find anything related to your webcam then right-click => uninstall it.

Disconnect from the internet physically, since you're using ZoneAlarm the next step will disable your firewall, make sure the ethernet cable is unplugged or the router is turned off.

Go to start => run and type msconfig. Go to the services tab and tick the "hide all microsoft services" box. Untick the remaining services. Go to the startup tab and untick everything. Restart the computer and see if the problem still happens. Each time you make changes in msconfig and restart the computer you'll get a warning about being in selective mode, tick the box before clicking ok so that the changes remain. If the problem doesn't happen anymore then retick the services and startup items one at a time, restart the computer and see if you can identify the culprit. Don't reconnect to the internet until you've reactivated the firewall and antivirus.

Do you have the XP CD ? If so use that CD to create an XP SP3 CD, we may need it later.

If the above didn't help then if it's indeed a driver that's causing the problem these articles from MS will help you finding and disabling it :

This afternoon, my computer began crashing whenever I try to open one of the more important files, like my computer or the control panel. Everything works correctly on safe mode, and I've tried driver verification, but there's upwards of 200 unregistered drivers, so I'm not entirely sure what to do. Are there any drivers I should look for to move away from the system32 folder? Or is there any other way to solve this?

Also, I haven't installed any new software recently.

I have been having a long running problem with my computer It started out as a lack of internet access which turned out tI o be a bad virus I fixed that problem by doing a complete reformat of my system I thought that that would fix the problem and it did for a bit After a week or so I started having BSOD I went to a computer shop and we went to work on the issue The BSOD's were showing that there was an error with my sata connection I replaced the cables The problem kept happening so I replaced the motherboard and hard drive with a complete reformat again Then I continued to have the same issues which included crashes disappearing icons weird error messages x errors and once in a while a BSOD The BSOD's all say there's still an error with the sata connection I then decided to replace the power Icons, Crashes, BSOD, Computer computer unusable Disappearing supply and upgraded to an evga watt I replaced my case as well to a bigger one I even replaced the ram sticks That seemed to fix the problems for a while and the BSOD's became very rare but after Disappearing Icons, Computer Crashes, BSOD, computer unusable a lot of use the weird error messages became very common I really can't use the computer any more I'm typing this on my laptop The computer shop I go to say's this is probably a hardware issue They can't seem to figure it out I've had it in multiple times This is a nightmare for a computer owner I have replaced virtually all the parts and my computer is still utterly unusable The only program I installed since the last reformat was Origin Steam Office The only parts I have yet to replace are the Processor and the Graphics Card Please help I really don't know what Disappearing Icons, Computer Crashes, BSOD, computer unusable else to do

A:Disappearing Icons, Computer Crashes, BSOD, computer unusable

Holy.....
uh...
Why don't you just buy a new one! WOW.. Sorry..
Well, you SHOULDN'T have played with drivers...That is what's up.
Tried re-formatting AFTER doing those changes?
That computer shop owner though...I don't know what to say.
1) try reformatting to a version that is supported by the bios..(Check if it supports x64)...(fully ready)
2) post every error you get and attempt to find solution to each one. (Getting tired)
3) Can you mention WHEN did certain errors happen? before...after changing Processor and Graphic Card? (Getting worried)
4) Try lots of thing on the web. (hope time)
5) Revert back to the old virtual stuff. (shameful return)
6) take off the good pieces and attempt to use it on another computer or sell it. (Hopeless)

So I have recently bought a Samsung 850 Evo 120 GB ssd drive. My HP computer now has a 1TB hitachi hard drive and a ssd drive. The computer loads from the SSD drive. To try and maintain space, I have tried to download MS Office on the HDD. But when I install office, while in the middle of installing, my computer always crashes. This has happened on all three of my attempts to install office so far. Is there any reason why I should not be able to install office on the HDD or do I have to install it on the SSD?

Thanks in advance for the help!

A:Computer crashes while installing MS Office on a Computer with 2 drive

It's always best to have your programs loaded onto the Windows drive, which in your case is the Samsung SSD.

It would be best if you could supply a screen shot of Disc Management making sure it covers all discs & the information. This will show if you have any other problems.

This tutorial shows how to do a screen shot.

A:Hacked Computer or Network Computer Crashes

Hello youngwill and welcome to Bleeping Computer.
My name is Satchfan and I would be glad to help you with your computer problem. Please read the following guidelines which will help to make cleaning your machine easier:
please follow all instructions in the order posted
please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine appears to be clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear
all logs/reports, etc. must be posted in Notepad. Please ensure that word wrap is unchecked. In Notepad click Format, uncheck Word wrap if it is checked
if you don't understand something, please don't hesitate to ask for clarification before proceeding
the fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine.
please reply within 3 days. If you do not reply within this period I will post a reminder but topics with no reply in 4 days will be closed!
IMPORTANT:
Please DO NOT install/uninstall any programs unless asked to.
Please DO NOT run any scans other than those requested
===================================================Note: Please carry out these instructions in the order given.
===================================================Reset the Router
Let’s try to reset the router to its default configuration.
this can be done by inserting something tiny like a paper clip end or pencil tip into a small hole labelled "reset" located on the back of the router.
press and hold down the small button inside until the lights on the front of the router blink off and then on again (usually about 10 seconds).
if you don’t know the router's default password, you can look it up. here
you also need to reconfigure any security settings you had in place prior to the reset.
you may also need to consult with your Internet service provider to find out which DNS servers your network should be using.
Note: After resetting your router, it is important to set a non-default password, and if possible, username, on the router. This will assist in eliminating the possibility of the router being hijacked again.Flush the DNS
Now lets flush the DNS on the computer:
hold down your Windows key and press R
a “run” window will appear
type in cmd and press Enter
a black window will open
please enter the following text into that window and then press Enter:
ipconfig /flushdns

Note There is a space after “ipconfig” and before the forward slash.
===================================================Download and run AdwCleaner
Download AdwCleaner from here and save it to your desktop.
run AdwCleaner
when it has finished, select Clean
if it asks to reboot, allow the reboot
on reboot a log will be produced; please attach the content of the log to your next reply.
===================================================Download and run Junkware Removal Tool Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8; instead of double-clicking, right-mouse click JRT.exe and select "Run as Administrator"
the tool will open and start scanning your system
please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications
on completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open
post the contents of JRT.txt into your next message.
===================================================Run Farbar Recovery Scan Tool
Please run FRST again and post the new log plus the Addition.txt log which was also produced with the first run of FRST.Logs to include with next post:AdwCleaner log
JRT.txt
Frst.txt
Addition.txt
Thanks

I was using my microsoft office word program, and it all of a sudden went funky, like short circuiting out, then a blue screen popped up saying that the program I was using was bad and causing my computer to crash, so my computer was shutting down before it crashed. Then it shut down and came back up asking if I wanted to go back to a restored or previous thing, something like that, (a restore point), and it said it would probably turn off and on several times through out and could take several minutes, then the computer turned off and back on and the screen would not turn on... I have a dell all in one computer, so I do not have a separate tower from my monitor. What happened? How can I fix this? Any one out there have any ideas? I was not even on the internet at the time.

A:Got a bad program, shutting down computer before computer crashes... help

When you first turn it on, can you see the Dell logo?  If so, does it show the Windows logo after that?
Do you recall details of what the blue screen said?

If you can see the Dell logo, then try these free, bootable diagnostics:  http://www.carrona.org/initdiag.html
You can press F12 to get to the boot menu in order to boot from the CD/DVD drive.

Have a dell xps 12, a few days ago, I was having some serious wireless communication issues and after several reboots, it stopped, but from that point forward when it tried to sleep it crashed.

I had previously installed then turned off netgears parental controls (and have since removed).

Get several errors in log:
mDNSCoreReceiveResponse: Unexpected conflict discarding 21 102.1.168.192.in-addr.arpa. PTR JAK88-LT-WIN8.local.
mDNSCoreReceiveResponse: Received from 192.168.1.102:5353 23 102.1.168.192.in-addr.arpa. PTR JAK88-LT-WIN8-2.local.
Report Server Windows Service (KINZERDB) cannot connect to the report server database.
I can include a memory dump as well, but its huge.

Hey,
Recently I felt that my 1gb of ram was a bit sluggish and decided to go purchase 4gb of ram and install it. Now, my computer has troubles starting and goes into Start up Repair where it has trouble finding a problem. Then when i finally get to login as my user everything works fine for a while (2hrs maybe) or until i try to play any of the games i have (guildwars, CS:source and Sims 2) where the screen proceeds to freeze and look a but distorted.

Now i dont know what the problem is and i have tried looking into if it is the ram i recently installed but i havent been able to come to any possible source of the problem.

Thanks Corey :D

A:Computer Crashes and Not Sure of Cause

Hi -

Did you run memtest86+ ?

http://www.memtest.org/

1 stick at a time, alternate slots.

System goes into startup repair EVERY TIME? What does it repair?

Check Event Viewer - Custom views/admin log to begin with
START | eventvwr.msc

WERCON
START | wercon - Problem History to start - 2x-click on line item provides additional info

You are x86? You know that x86 system will only use ~3.3GB of the 4GB?

Regards. . .

Could you give a bit more detail on your PC? Is it a laptop or a desktop?
I would imagine the problem is video card related, but of course that is with no other
info other than the pic.

Could you provide more info on your hardware, operating system, what you were doing (are doing ) when these crashes occur, etc?

Recently I've had to get rid of a lot of spyware/adware/trojans/malware from my computer. All of it has seemingly come off successfully.

However quite often when I run these scans whether it be my McAfee virus scan or spyware scan (e.g. AVG, Ad-Aware, Spybot etc.) my computer crashes mid-scan without warning and restarts itself. It even goes beyond scans with it crashing. While running 'disk cleanup' the computer crashes and restarts itself.

Can anyone give me any assistance?

Thanks

A:Computer Crashes

Honestly, if you have that many problems with your computer, reformat it.

I have been through this before in different projects and I consider virus software as preventative measures because once a virus latches on it can be deadly.

I would reformat your computer and start with a clean slate, it is the most painless way to recover.

What was the last software/hardware item you added before the problems started?

I have following problem
computer restarts from time to time. sometimes that happens when I'm listening to music, before it crashes sound becomes distorted like martians are trying to speak with me, sometimes that happens during file copying from usb or dvd or hdd-hdd
same problem occurs on linux ubuntu
I have installed VIA chipset drivers (in system properties VIA BUS master controller (dual mode)) . HDD is set UDMA6 and DVD to UDMA2 as stated in IDE Tool.
I checked the hdd for integrity and memory also. tests went fine.
I tried also with BurnInTest tool it went ok.
I left Prime95 all night working and yet no restart, cpu temp wasnt over 60 C
so if you have any idea, what could be the problem or how could I test it better i would appreciate it.

A:computer crashes

lets post in the correct forum next time - (audio/video)

have you checked your sound card drivers?
Have you checked your PSU with a tester/ multimeter?

Well, my problem is I start up my computer, there are no windows errors, about 15-30 seconds after my computer starts it turns off. I think it has something to do with the power supply, but I want to make sure before I waste 50 dollars.

My computer started to crash since I changed ram type ddr3 to ddr2 and bios reset. I had to do that since my motherbaord ddr3 ram slots are not working anymore. Since then my computer freezes. Sometimes there are BSOD suddenly coming up or when I shutdown computer. And they say different reason why they happned. Sometimes when I open a software like Firefox, the crash report windows opens stating firefox crashed. And when I start playing a game the same thing happens. I would have tried to solve the problems by myself but there are so my different erros not sure where to start.
Please help, thanks.

Per http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DDR3_SDRAM :

"DDR3 DIMMs have 240 pins and are electrically incompatible with DDR2. The two are prevented from being accidentally interchanged by different key notch positions on the DIMMs. Not only are DDR2 and DDR3 keyed differently, DDR2 has rounded notches on the side and the DDR3 modules have square notches on the side. DDR3 SO-DIMMs have 204 pins."

What motherboard do you have installed...or what OEM system is this?

[FONT=Geneva][SIZE=1][COLOR=blue] help!!! my computer keeps crashing unexpectedly . microsoft says it's due to a device driver, but i checked each one out and they all work properly. when i checked the Advanced System Information, I discovered I get a strange error message each time the computer crashes " source- MRxSmb, the master browser has recieved a server announcement from the computer HAL2 that believes that it is the master browser for the domain on transport NetBT_Tcpip_ " it also lists a series of numbers after and says the browser is stopping or an election is being forced. the windows help said that message had something to do with full-duplex and half-duplex network interface cards. i say and feel so very very because i've only had this thing 6 monthes. thanks from the Mamabear

Just took my computer in for repairs (they said the operating system needed some fixes??) and now I get all new problems. Every day I get the dreaded blue screen. It says Error is.. Win32k.sys. Base at BF800000 Date 41107F79. Somewhere on there is also said 0x0000008E. I tried to write it so fast before the time was up. Does anyone have any idea what could be triggering this and where do I start??? The computer place said it could be an issue with the hotkeys on my keyboard and dont use them. Didnt work..still did it. sometimes i get the Blue screen on bootup and like today it was 3 hours after bootup. And im never doing the same thing when it happens. So confused....any ideas?? Thanks..SHARI

Hello,
Hoping someone here can help me out. Recently the computer has been running very slow and randomly shutting off - all on its own. I don't recall visting any questionable sites lately or downloading anything... spybot comes out clean, as does adaware - but i can't run my anti-virus without the computer shutting off. I was running CA software; and thought the problem might be there, so I unistalled it and downloaded a trial of microtrends pc-cillian. The same thing happens; namely I can't make it through a system scan without the computer shutting down.

here's my system info:

laptop - averatec 6100
Windows XP, Home Edition, 2002, SP2

Not sure what else is needed or where to start???

Thanks in advance

Hi,

I'm having trouble with my new computer. Recently, its always crashing on me, especially on start-ups and shutdowns. The computer just resets (makes a noise that usually happens only when i turn on the comp).
Afterward, I get a "System has recovered from a serious error" message (attached).

My comp is a Windows XP Pro, AMD Athlon 3800+ X2 processor, ASUS M2A-VM motherboard.

I got my new computer last July, and up until a couple of weeks ago, everything was still fine.

Any advice appreciated, thxs!

A:Computer Crashes

Try running chkdsk,

Go to START -
then RUN
type CMD
a command box will open
type CHKDSK/F and hit enter
it will ask you if you want to run on next startup
type Y for yes
type EXIT the box will close
Restart your computer and let the test run, it will take some time

let us know if there is any change

I hope somebody can help me! I have been dealing with this problem for at least the past few weeks and I am getting very, very frustrated with it.

My computer turns off by itself randomly. Sometimes it happens when it has been idle for a while (and it is not set to do that), but mostly it turns off during high performance activities, such as webcamming and doing a virus scan. The scan never completes, and when webcamming, it doesn't last very long at all... 5 minutes usually.

I have no idea what the problem is and I am desperate to fix it because I use my computer daily for work!

Your help is greatly appreciated - thank you!

Brynneth

A:Computer Crashes!

could be a heat issue but lets do this...

first go to START...RUN...type in...MSCONFIG....click on the startup

tab...uncheck everything except your firewall and anti

virus....reboot....you haven't removed the programs or anything they just

wont launch until you need them...

then do this..
Disable the Automatic Search for Network Printers and Folders
To disable the automatic search for network printers and folders:
1. Click Start, click Control Panel, click Appearance and Themes, and

click Folder Options to open the Folder Options dialog box.
2. Click the View tab.
3. In the Advanced Settings list, click to clear the Automatically

Search for Network Folders and Printers check box.
4. Click OK.

then do this...

the next thing we are going to do is turn off indexing ....its a resource

hog and if you aren't searching for things on your computer 10 times a day

it will only slow down your system....
click on start...my computer...right click on C: drive....properties...on

the general tab..uncheck ...allow indexing on this drive....if you do not

have the box on your system...
then START...RUN...type in SERVICES.MSC...then OK...scroll down until you

find INDEXING SERVICE...click on it and in the general tab set it to

DISABLED...then exit to the desktop...

next lets clear out all the unnecessary files...get ccleaner here and run

it....

http://www.ccleaner.com/

run ccleaner twice

next get diskeeper lite

http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=1207

defragging does not hurt your computer...you do not have to defrag in safe

mode with diskeeper lite and its 10 times as fast than the defragger that

comes with windows
launch it and run it...if you haven't defragged recently it can take up to

a hour..or as little as 15 minutes...
after doing all that you should have a much faster computer...play awhile

then let us know how its going

You should try searching the "Stop 0x000000??" code. The codes might give you clues as to where to start investigating.

Hello and Welcome to TSF

Those seem to be all signs of an overheating issue.
Whats the watt on your PSU you have installed?
Reseat your video card and your memory. Take some canned air and blow out the fans inside the case and also the video card fan if it has one.

i would update the network adapter drivers

post back an ipconfig /all
------------------------------------------------------------------------
ipconfig /all

We would like to see the results from an ipconfig /all - post back the results in a reply here.

If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here.
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.

If you do not have another PC - do you have a phone connected to the internet - can you photograph the result and post the image in a reply
Note: you will see entries named Tunnel adapter Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface: we dont need to see that information - JUST the information above those entries

For Windows 8 or Windows 10
To open a Cmd Prompt or an Administrator Cmd prompt from the Desktop.
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/open-an-elevated-command-prompt-in-windows-8/
Use Win + X and choose Command Prompt or Command Prompt (Admin) from the list.
For windows version, XP, Vista, W7
Hold the Windows key and press R

Now type CMD

Now press Enter to open a command prompt box (A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):
In the command prompt window that opens, type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

ipconfig /all > network.txt & network.txt
It will export the results into notepad and then automatically open the notepad and display on your screen.

Now all you need to do is copy and paste those results into a reply here
to do that:
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Select all
all the text will now be highlighted
Next
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Copy

Now go back to the forum - goto the reply and then right click in the reply box and paste the results.
The results from the notepad should now appear in the forum reply.

originaly, my computer was a 1000mghz athlon with 512 RAM. one day the processor broke and was temporary replaced by a 266mghz. I didn't expect too much from this crappy processor and i was surprised to see how well it was doing... until i tried to play movies. whenever i try, my computer restarts.

i'm stuck with this processor for some weeks and i was wondering if there was something i could do without buying anything

I cannot blame windows7 for it's crashes, because it will often crash during initialization and even before BIOS POST mensage appears... however i cannot find out what is the crash reason... i mean, a blue screen appears, for 0.3151 seconds and then the computer restarts, i cannot see to find the crash details anywhere, so i don't know what to do. I heavly suspect from either memory or video board (as it failed to start 13 times already (according to Action Center) ).

I mean, every day i have to start it about 5 times before it actualy gets to the Desktop...

How do i look at the blue screen error mensage on Windows 7?

and if the problem is Memory/Video Card what do you guys sugest me doing?

A:The Computer Itself crashes

Hi.

You may follow this link on how to post for crashes.

What you can do for now is to check that the jumpers on the hard drives (if IDE) are set correctly.

Also, check on your memory Vdimm and timings in the bios. Make sure they are set correctly for you specific RAM modules. Visit the maker's site of the modules to find out the information on them. Use the spd tab of CPU-Z if you need to figure out which modules they are.

Make sure the pc is not overclocked at all.

Does it only crash when playing BF3? If so you might want to check out the BF3 battle log forums. There have been a lot of crashing issues with BF3 since it's full release. Does your MB have Realtek audio? The Realtek audio drivers have been sepected of causing some of the crashing problems.

I have an old problem with my computer that is starting to wear me off.

Sometimes, when i use some program that uses sound (winamp, games, and online poker platforms (these are the most frequent) ... never had problems with movies or browsing the web) , the sound will go off first and then the computer gradually loses his strenght, slowing down, until he freezes completly and needs a forced reboot.

I have 2 sound cards : onboard one and a creative x-fi. Using anyone of the 2 will give no improvement.

My system :
DFI lanparty DK FX series
AMD Athlon dual core 6000 (3000 mhz)
4 gb corsair ddr 800 mhz
Radeon 3870
2 HDD
Vista business

I even tried to install windows 7 and still same old problem. Updated bios, same problem.

Need help

I would start by checking your memory... You might try running the computer with the cover off and see if the BSOD's disappear
