GF GTX 460 EVGA SuperClock / MSI cyclone

Q: GF GTX 460 EVGA SuperClock / MSI cyclone

It's a simple question i have 160? to buy graphic card, the best i can get for that kind of money is either EVGA gtx 460 786 SC or MSI gtx n460 786/5d Cyclone.

Which one is better?
Both cost same, one is 158? other 160?.

Which is quieter?
I can't find accurate info, for EVGA it says max noise 40 db, but at the same time it says it is the quieter of this class. For MSI i found review that says it only produces 31 db at full load.

How does mini-hdmi/dvi to hdmi work?
I saw lots of threads on different forums, where people are reporting problems with sound when they connect gtx 460 to TV to watch movies.

Thnx for help.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: GF GTX 460 EVGA SuperClock / MSI cyclone

So, i found more information at goru 3d, they tested some of gtx 460 cards and now it is even tougher to decide.

MSI GTX 460 Cyclone OC - The idle noise levels coming from the card are downright silent, in idle you will barely hear the card as we measured 37~38 dBA, which is right below the threshold of noise coming from the PC itself.Click to expand...

eVGA GeForce GTX 460 768MB SuperClocked - Despite the temperatures being a little higher on this card, that does not have an effect on overall sound levels. At its hottest measured point (64 degrees C) the fan RPM had risen towards 45% RPM, and that's still very little. So even this massively overclocked SKU remains absolutely silent.Click to expand...

eVGA is a couple of fps faster than cyclone in most tests, but it doesn't have a voltage raise function if i decide to further oc. Whinch means max overclock is a bit lower compare to Cyclone.

In the end i may just buy the cheapest palin gtx 460 fot 145? and overclok it, i am sure i could oc it to 800mhz core and 4000mhz ram.

MSI 4890 Cyclones are rare so im wondering if i can use a normal 4890, sure they are diffrent but they are the same. just wondering would it work?

A:Would a MSI Cyclone 4890 OC work with a MSI 4890 OC (non Cyclone)

It should have no issue, usze rivatuner, or atitool, or whatever to just oc both, and. it'll be even better.

after many trial and errors with the fans.. i finally figured out why my PC is still so loud.. well the NB chipset cooler on this motherboard (eVGA NF43) is very loud for a little tiny fan. so i decided to replace it with passive cooling.. such as the Zalman ZM-NB47J

Question is.. i have a 6600GT right by the chipset cooler.. will the zalman fit in there? i kno it wont with the 7800GTs but im not sure how much longer ther PCB's are on those cards.. maybe someone can help me =]

A:eVGA 6600GT + eVGA NF43 + Zalman ZM-NB47J = happy? or not?

After looking at my 6600gt, the picture of the motherboad, and the picture of the cooler, I don't think it will work. You use the blue pci-e slot right?
I guess there are several options. If your chipset stays plenty cool you could try slowing the fan either using a software program, or by using a manual fan speed controller. Or I've seen people with the same heatsink and a similar board layout cut some of the spokes(or bend them), so that it wouldn't interfere with the card. There also might be replacments with a fan that is quieter available.

I am running windows Home Premium 64bit. I just did a fresh install and when I ran the WEI the computer rebooted. I can run it with out being in SLI mode, but as soon as I enable and refresh the computer reboots. I am wondering if it is caused by the power supply. I have a rosewill RP650 2 psu. - Rosewill RP650-2 650W ATX12V v2.3 & EPS12V v2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Active PFC Power Supply

What are your thoughts?? I have the latest drivers and again this is a new OS install.

A:Evga GTX 260 SLI with Evga x58 mother board reboot issues

Hi and welcome to seven forums

How recent is the SLI? Have you just added the 2nd card?

Could you tell us the rest of your system specs or fill them in on your profile.

Do both cards work fine if you just have 1 installed?

Sounds like it could be a power issue if so.

Does anyone know anything about these? I assume you put them in the slot under your video card as an exhaust (but what do I know)?
Are they worth bothering with?

A:Antec Cyclone Blower

Yes they go directly under the video card as an exhaust.

I use to use them but got tired of replacing them, personally I don't think there worth it. Couldn't tell the difference if it was on or off.

I highly suggest this though, have them in all my machines in this house

Hi. I have a 1Tb cyclone HD media player and it wont play any files anymore. When i plug it into the TV it says there is nothing on it but when I plug it into the laptop i can see all my films on it. I had to format it as it was saying it was corrupted and would not do anything. This was about a month ago and I was wondering if I could have deleted some important files off it. If so would you be able to tell me what i need to do and where to get the necessary files? Thanks, Padraig.

A:Cyclone HD Media Player

According to the User Manual, it supports FAT32 and NTFS, but FAT32 is recommended. And it's recommended to format the HDD using the CD supplied with the player.

Verify it is formatted correctly.

I'm planning to upgrade my graphics card and I have the possibility of buying either an as new MSI GTX 560 Ti Hawk Twin Frozr III or a new MSI GTX 650 Ti Cyclone.
Price is the same.
Any advice?

Well the GTX 650 is slightly more powerful, However the GTX 560 with the Twin Frozr III has a great cooling solution and very quiet.

I am looking for a compatible usb adaptor to link a Sumvision Cyclone HD Media player to my wireless network ?.

I realise that it requires the rtl 8187 chipset .

I ordered a Sitecom Wl 168 but was sent a NETGEAR WG111 and was told this would do, but it just comes up as failed on the Cyclone when I try and connect

Is there anyone who has had similar problems and can assist me in a list of compatible USB Wifi adaptors

Unwrapped my brand new, factory sealed card today and noticed the bottom was slightly sticky. There was this weird sticky residue on the bottom of my brand new card. AGGGGHHH! I read somewhere online that this may be a result of resin soldering? I don't know. One little goop concentration was around a soldering point. Any ideas? It's not like a runny goop it's just a residue. It's not loose.

I cleaned off as much of it as I could with alcohol.

A:Sticky residue on bottom of new MSI Cyclone card???

The residue from the flux in electrical solder can be very sticky. Normally, on high end computer gear, its cleaned off after all the soldering is finished. Other than collecting dust it won't hurt anything to leave it there. You just don't want it getting on the edge connector and messing up the contacts. Alcohol would be my choice for removing it.

Don't know if this is the proper thread to post this in but here goes. I was told there was a cure for the revolving circle near the mouse pointer when I was using XP, but here again I have it using Win7 constantly. I don't see anything that would cause this so I am asking for some help....

A:That darn revolving cyclone next to the mouse pointer

If you use the classic theme, you won't see the cyclone. It will be replaced with the hourglass.

Or are you looking to not have any indication that the computer is busy?

of you want to spend $200, don't get the hd4890, as it isn't one of the newest cards that have all the features of today, such as dx11 and tessellation and eyefinity. take a look at other products from the 5000 series from ati, such as this which is a bit better than a 5770. - SAPPHIRE 100282SR Radeon HD 5850 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card w/ATI Eyefinity - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards --bit of a long shot on price but you won't need an upgrade for a couple of years.

I noticed on that all eVGA products were renamed to EVGA. I found this strange and I prefer the eVGA name over the EVGA name. But I was wondering if the name is eVGA or EVGA. I guess it really doesn't matter, but I kind of care.

Anyway because of neweggs change in names I thoughh the correct name is EVGA. Yet in my eVGA e-GeForce 7900 GS KO 256MB (and thats how I believe it should be named. Sorry cfitzarl) manual it is called eVGA.

Anyway, you known the question.

I recently bought a new custom pc, but kept old 560 Ti in it.
So System what I have now:
850w PSU Corsair;
16gb Kingston Ram 1600Mhz;
3770k i7 Intel Cpu @ 4.7Ghz
Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H;
Gigabyte 560 Ti Video card;

There is 2.2 Cm distance between Cards. I would get a 560 Ti in no time if I wouldnt be worried about the heat.

I want to buy a new video card or add another 560 Ti. But Selling my current 560 Ti would be hard here.
I could get a new 560 Ti for 300$ (Hate prices in Latvia(East Europe))
or Gigabyte's Gtx 680 2gb For 740$(Price here)
or Gigabyte's Gtx 670 2gb for 570$(Price Here)
I have a chance getting Evga's 680 FTW 4gb from US but its gonna be only on october 630$ (Price in the US)

Question is, What would you do if you were me?

EDIT: I am using old Monitor - 1440 x 900 Resoulution, Going to buy 1920 x 1080 Soon

A:What should I get? Another 560 Ti or EVGA's 680 FTW?

My opinion based on the fact that you aren't yet capable of gaming at 1080p resolutions is stick with your 560 till October and then get a much cheaper 670 from the US (instead of the FTW). For $630 you're inching pretty close to a pair of 670s @ $800. The rest of your machine would NOT be a bottleneck to a pair of 670s but I'd be willing to bet you would be happy with just 1 of them.

Why don't you wait a month or 2 and buy a 7800GT or GTX. with the new 7900 series out now, retailers are dumping the 7800 series at reasonable prices. I've been watching them come down in price in just the last few weeks. The diff between 1.6 and 1.5 GHz is ntohing and you won't notice it or you can just adjust this in the nVidia settings.

Which one would you get? I'm soon going to get one, and I'm not sure which to buy...

I've used EVGA cards and am currently using one, and customer service is great, and I love EVGA precision.

However, the Gigabyte has three fans and is already overclocked (I'll still overclock it :P). Also, will EVGA Precision work with the Gigabyte card?

Edit: Also, it seems the Gigabyte one has an 8 and 6 pin connector, while the EVGA one has 2 sixes.

I'm definetly going with the eVGA x58 in my next build and am putting together the rest of my specs. Tigerdirect and other distis that sell barebone bundles, package this mobo with larger towers. Will the Antec 900 not be a good fit?

Well I cant really tell the Airflow of my GPU cooler either (ATi x1950xt) but I know that ATi's catalyst can tell me the temps, and they are about 45 idle and can go WAY up in game. FOr nVidia cards I would recomend downloading NvTempLogger which will log your nVidia based temps (more info at the link). I cant tell you what temps you want to have but this thing will let you know what you do have and then you can easily check nVidia's site for what is acceptable (or a quick google search).

I was looking at video cards for my next upgrade and my eye caught this card. it is the same price as the 7900GS, but it is called the 7900 GT KO. i was wondering if this was just an overclocked version of the GS, or a real 7900GT gpu. Andrew, welcome to the forum. You should measure the space between the Back I/O plate and the front of the computer.  This will allow you to see how much length the card can have and check to see if any components are in the way.  Also, I suggest that you contact EVGA Tech Support (1-888-881-3842) to assure that the card will work in the computer.  It requires UEFI in the motherboard instead of a standard BIOS.  HP didn't begin using UEFI until mid-October, 2012.  I don't believe that your motherboard has UEFI. Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

Hey guys,

So I tried tracking down a EVGA GTX 670 FTW 4gb to SLI it with my current one, but I couldn't find anything online anymore. Could I pair it up with a another GTX 600 series 4gb or a EVGA GTX 670 FTW 2gb (when I have a 4)?

I want to SLI (now or some short time in the future) but I don't know what to do about my existing GTX 670 problem. I don't really know much about the compatibility of SLI so I was wondering if there was any insight on here.

You can only pair a GTX 670 with a GTX 670 (Same with pairing a GTX 660 and a GTX 660).

But don't worry if you have an EVGA GTX 670 and ASUS GTX 670 for example, it's still fine.

A:Evga 6600 256 PCI-E

It should definatly do the trick, I think it would do the job even on full graphics for those games. Of course it would depend on things like your chipset, and amount of ram u have. I run something compareable, radeon 9600 pro 256 mb, AMD 64 3200+ 2.2 ghz, 1 gig of ram with an Nforce3. It can run these games perfect.

If your worried about playing full performance, just buy a bit of an older game first, to make sure it runs well. Like Bf1942, call of duty ect..

If they run to your standards go ahead and get doom3, farcry, or halflife2.

To disable the integrated graphics in Windows: Right click on your My Computer icon, click Properties. Open the Hardware tab and press the Device Manager button. A:Is EVGA GTX 650 2 GB worth it?

Do you have a budget for how much you can spend on the Video Card itself? I would suggest shopping around because Amazon doesn't always have the best deals. Depending on where you are located, you could find some really sweet deals. Spending another $10 you can get an EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Ti Superclocked 2GB ( ) or for the same price as GTX 650 you can get a PNY GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB ( ). I'm not saying you have to buy either of those cards, just showing you that you have options. You could also go with an AMD video card if you wanted to. Let us know how much you can spend (on either just the Video Card or the whole system) and we can help you out.
Also, looking at the specs you included, it looks like you have a decent plan for the build. I would suggest getting 8GB of Ram, not just 4GB. If you want to game on it, then 8GB is pretty much the "safe zone" for gaming.

A:Max temp to allow EVGA GT 240 before cranking fan up?

Hi Debbie,
GPU' s are designed to run warmer than CPU's so while cooler is better, 50-60c is nothing to get overly concerned with. increasing the airflow through your case to lower temps would be preferable to running the cards fan at 90% constantly if you can. The upper thermal limit for GPU's (AMD & Nvidia) is 105c. while thats to warm as far as I am concerned, If you can keep idle temps below 50c and load temps to 85c or less, the card will probably outlast your use for it.
Hope that helped

I have been looking at getting a new graphics card and was originally looking at the eVGA 7600GT CO and KO. By the way, what is the difference between CO and KO, and which is better?

Then I found out that the eVGA was having some overheating issues so I began looking at some VGA coolers for about $25.

From there I was thinking if I went to another brand such as XFX or PNY, that the overheating may not happen.

Would you guys suggest getting an eVGA with a 3rd party heatsink (or have you guys had great success with the stock cooler?) or should I get an XFX or PNY 7600gt?

I am assuming that the XFX and PNY don't have as bad of overheating problems from the customer reviews. Which brand is best, eVGA, XFX, or PNY?

What is you guys advice to this dilemma? What would you do? Other suggestions are welcome.

Thanks guys.

A:Evga Waranty Problems

Hi Ritespeed,

I am sorry to hear of your delima with your warranty. It sounds like something that would happen to me

Unfortunately companies set a warranty period to support their hardware for the length of time they feel is suitable for their product. It would be nice to have lifetime warranty on a video card but I'm affraid the company would probably go out of business using that type of practice.

Are you positive the card is not operatable? Replacing it in another computer, checking in the Device Manager for conflicts, updating drivers can all be good
types of troubleshooting.

If you are positive it is "dead" then I am sorry, we would not be able to assist you.

Also, is it only human to give your opinion about a product while upset with their Customer Services practices, but the suggestion not to purchase this brand of video card is strickly ones opinion.

We would be happy to assist you with troubleshooting your video card .

I have the HP Pavilion 550-153w  and I want to put in EVGA GeForce GTX 950 FTW GAMING ACX 2.0. Will my system handle it?

The question would be why? What do you want for it?  A particular game? Of concern is the i3-4170 processor.  If it's a game, go to game-debate and do the "Can I play It".The GTX 950  peaks at 90W. Your system would require a minimum of 350W. I would recommend a Corsair CX 500, provided that your processor is sufficient (which I really doubt).

I currently have a single EVGA 2GB GTX 770 SC and a 650W Cooler Master PSU. I'm getting a second 770 and I'm not sure if 850 watts will be enough to power two of them. I'm currently interested in this PC Power & Cooling power supply as it is on sale for $100 after rebate for Black Friday. I have also heard that this brand is very reliable and high quality.

A:850W PSU enough for SLI EVGA SC GTX 770s?

I would recommend at least a 1000 watt or more psu. It's not that much more money and you have more head room. Lots of new 1000W and above psu's available now and we should see some good cyber Monday prices.

I'm moving the GTX 970 into my second gaming build and will install a new Galax GTX 980 HoF into my original build. I currently have EVGA Precision X installed, but I've seen the MSI Afterburner include CPU temps as part of the OSD monitoring tools. I saw a video of a Galax card using Precision, so I'm aware that it is still compatible with non-EVGA cards. Should I keep Precision installed or uninstall it and install Afterburner? BTW, I'm using a legacy version of Precision due to bugs with the recent versions.

A:EVGA Precision X or MSI Afterburner for new GPU?

I'd try them both and then compare the two and see which one you like the best.

My card normally runs around MHz idle and has a stock boost clock of MHz I've managed to up this to MHz MHz without any voltage adjustments and with the fans Geforce EVGA SC 970 overclocking GTX around it still floats in the low to mid s for temps currently C I've been informed that with a little voltage adjustment I should be able to go as high as MHz but I'm not sure if it's worth potentially shortening the lifespan of my card for an extra MHz The most demanding game I play is Minecraft laugh it up go ahead EVGA Geforce GTX 970 SC overclocking with Sonic Ether's Unbelievable Shaders which is very demanding on hardware I've seen an overall framerate increase of about - fps for my efforts As this is my first time overclocking a graphics card I'm looking for someone with a little more experience in the area to tell me if I should quiet down and be satisfied with what I've gotten out of this relatively mediocre card or if I should go ahead and push it a little further

That is a very good OC. I OC for benchmarks, but run stock for games. as long as you maintain low temps like you have, you are good.

Does anyone have any experience with this? The "used" 980 Ti I bought off of Amazon Warehouse Deals turned out to be brand new and eligible for the Step-Up program, so I submitted a step up for the 1080 ACX 3.0 model. I'm curious about stuff like shipping time and if anyone has had any hassles? My invoice that I uploaded said "used" on it, so I'm wondering if that would disqualify me.

I was running a EVGA 760 up until a few hours ago which I replaced with a 970. When I have the power supply attached to the new card, the onboard graphics won't work, and neither will the card. When I disconnect the card, the onboard graphics works, but the system won't detect the graphics card after I reattach the power supply to it, and therefore it won't allow me to install drivers.EVGA thought it might be a compatibility issue with the bios (or the board), as it's might simply be too old to run the new card. Anyone have any ideas?

Hey guys, weird one for you.

I have an eVGA 6800GT. I noticed that my WoW game would freeze up for a little while after the framerate dropped. It looked like the video card was overheating, but I have a PCI cooler and 5 other fans in the case, so I thought that was quite unlikely. None the less, I downloaded nView and checked the GPU temp under Aquamark. The idle temp was 80 degrees C, with the temp spiking to 99 degrees C when the benchmark was running hard. This seems VERY hot to me. I'm going to add another fan on the side of the case to blow on the card, and the card fan is running, I checked that. Any other ideas?

PSU issue I think

heres what it is when I first installed this card (had a 500w antec psu) the comp was fine till I played diablo and poof shut off the comp via psu , so decide to get a thermaltake 2 600w and hook tht up now ot plays for a longer time
but does the same thing,I took the card back and got a new one of the same
same thing happens , so I decided to try a different approach and I have a psu I modded for xbox 360 tht is wired to stay on and I ran the card powered by tht and was able to play for hours and only 2 times it shut that psu off suggestions or now a psu tht doesnt get fooled so easy or what is really going thank you

A:PSU issue with evga gtx 660 superclocked

If you got a different video card and a different PSU, chances are there is something else wrong unless you got very unlucky and got another bad part from one of the two things swapped out.
My guess would be one of the following just from one you said:
The new PSU is bad as well
The CPU is overheating and shutting off
GPU could be overheating and shutting off (Though this is unlikely)
Those are just a few things to check, I would go into the bios and see what temp the CPU is running at while in there and decide if its running above what it should be. If that's not the issue I would try returning the PSU for a different one and see if that fixes the issue. Though the fact that the machine shuts off with 3 different PSU's points to a different part being an issue.

Hi i just got my evga geforce GTX 470 card to day. but when i try to install the graphics drivers my computer will boot up in windows for 2 sec then i get a BSOD or it says my grapichs drivers have stopped responding then restarts .

I am kind of suspecting that its my power PSU which is the problem it is an its a Xilence XP 550W only has 1x PCI-E 6 pin so I had to use the 2 molex adapter that came with the card.

my system specs are:
Mainboard : Asus P5K SE
Chipset : Intel P31/P35
Processor : Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2400MHz
Physical Memory : 4096MB (4 x 1024 DDR2-SDRAM )
Hard Disk : Seagate ST31000528AS ATA Device (1000GB)
PSU: Xilence model no. XP550 Voltages/currents: 3.3V/30A, 5V/32A, +12V1/18A 12V2/20A, -12V/0.5A, +5Vsb/2.5A

What does everyone here think about this card?
Is there any other card that you would say would be better in this price range?

Thank you in advance!

Relevancy 37.41%

I have had this card for a little over 2 years. Now I want to upgrade to something better because I not only game, but hook my computer up to my Sony HDTV for movies and such.
My system Specs:
Intel core i7 960 (3.85 GHz)
18GB RAM (corsair vengeance? forgot)
512GB SSD (OCZ vertex 4)
EVGA GTX 560 TI Superclocked (want to upgrade?)
650w PSU

I am looking at maybe a EVGA GTX 760 Superclocked or around that price range of $250. I do not want to SLI my 560 because I don't think my PSU can handle it and heat issues.

Any suggestions or advice? Thank you guys in advance you are the greatest!!!!!

A:Upgrading from EVGA GTX 560 TI Superclocked

The GTX 760 is a good choice. Other option in that price range would be a HD 7950.

Btw playing movies through a TV doesn't warrant an upgrade since it's not GPU intensive. You should see a nice performance bump when playing graphically demanding games though.

Are you sure that it's the video card? Have you run any diagnostics/stress tests? Try vidmemtest (google it) to check your video card's memory: it's could be some dodgy memory on the card.

Because your motherboard only supports Crossfire (dual or up ATi cards), not SLI(dual or up nVidia cards)
Dump the SLI idea, get a single good card or two Radeon 4850s.

Well what games do you play? BF3 for example would benefit from an overclock. You should be able to get 800-850Mhz without a voltage tweak.

I use EVGA Precision and have a Geforce 9800 GTX card. The GPU Temp of my card sits around 51 C while gaming, the fan speed was at 45 default so I turned it up to 70 (GPU temp was around 60s C when the fan speed was 45). Should I mess with the Core clock and memory clock settings or is it better to leave those alone? Core clock is at 700 while Memory clock is 1100. Which one would increase my FPS?

Many thanks to all the guys who tried to help on my last problem
MSI 925x Neo Platinum MB. I tried everything but alas the same result.
Then MSI informd me that the guarantee 2years starts from the day it leaves the factory and not from when you purchase their merchandise. So needless to say I WONT be purchasing anything else from them. So take note !!
So guys I have purchased the above MB in its place and wondered if anyone out there had any experience of it. I'm not an avid gamer but wanted someting I could use from my knackered board eg PCU RAM etc to save on costs that would (hopefully) fit this MB.
