BIOS update to Asus motherboard?

Q: BIOS update to Asus motherboard?

I am building a new pc, and I purchased an ASUS M4A88TD-M/USB3 MB a couple of weeks ago...I suspect that the BIOS is of around April - 2010...(302)....I will save the current BIOS to a Flash Drive, before updating current BIOS, but my question is....there are a lot of newer versions, with the latest being 901....If I download the latest version, does it encompass all the other version updates prior ? I intend to use Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit....Thanks in advance....

Preferred Solution: BIOS update to Asus motherboard?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi.
i've recently decide to update all of my PC components , and stuck on motherboard bios.
can you help me with it ?
i've red the manuals , and it says to download "asus update utility" on their site , but when im choosing "windows 7 64" and downloading the utility it says that i should download 64 bit application .
so is there any other way to update my bios ? or... im lost a bit

A:Asus m4a88t-m motherboard BIOS update

I suggest using the EZ Flash utility, rather than updating the BIOS from within Windows. It's invoked from within the BIOS setup. RTFM. (If you've mislaid the manual, it's available for download from support.asus.com.)

No download required, other than the BIOS file itself.

I think that EZ Flash is safer than Windows. It may be as good as flashing from DOS.

Has anyone with this board tried this bios update? I believe the version # is 2205. Is it mainly important just for upgrading to the new 5th. Gen. processors or, is there benefits for the 4th. Gen. i7 4790k also? Thanks!

A:latest bios update for asus z97-a motherboard Questions

I own the Asus Z97-A motherboard and my instruction manual says not to upgrade the BIOS if my system is running smoothly. The manual clearly states to upgrade BIOS only when you have to, thus I have never upgraded my BIOS.

I am trying to update the BIOS and went here to use their update utility:

ASUS - Motherboards- ASUS P5Q-E

However, the software Afudos BIOS update tool V2.36 will not load (3rd item of the above web page's list)!?!?

What do I do now? Any other BIOS update utility compatible to the Asus P5Q-E?

I am having these problems: http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...ing-start.html

A:Asus P5Q-E motherboard bios update utility software won't install?

You could have a corrupt file. I would down load a new copy and try it.

Here is a link to Asus for your board.

If that doesn't work here is a link to an engineering ver of AFUDOS that may work.

Try those out as the first attempt. The engineering ver will let you downgrade if you need to.

Greetings,

I'm looking for a BIOs update for the P5Q Deluxe Motherboard. I've gone to their site to get some updates, but it's rather confusing to someone like me who isn't very tech with this - considering I've never updated BIOs myself before.
I hope someone can help me out! I'm running on W7 Home Premium 64-bit.

All I've managed to find are these: Asus P5Q Deluxe Motherboard BIOS Update 2301 Download
But they're quite old, so I'm not sure if these are the most recent?

Thanks in advance

I would check the asus website... And honestly unless if you hare having direct issues related to the motherboard I do not suggest updating your bios since you are not very tech savy...

I've been contemplating upgrading my i5-4670k to an i7-4790k, but to do this I'd have to update my BIOS to take the Devil's Canyon CPU. Now I'm no pro when it comes to BIOS updates, far from it, and I've been trying to convince myself I have the minerals to do it.
I've been reading up on it and came across this from ASUS:

My question is would it really be that easy to update the BIOS, especially in a Windows environment? I've never heard of that before, has anybody even tried it?

I have an onboard ATI HD 3200 graphics + an PCIe ATI HD 4350 together in SurroundView mode and everything works fine. However I don't understand the following 4 options in the BIOS. What is the difference between the setting? I have it on the first one and everything seems to work fine.

A:ATI SurroundView + Asus Motherboard + BIOS question

It's the order in which the motherboard sets the Primary VGA graphics.
So as you have an added 4350 connected to a monitor, this is GFX0 and is the primary card that will be used to run Games etc. Surround view turns on the onboard VGA as a secondary graphics output for a 3rd monitor as the 4350 can have 2 monitors.

Good day,

I was wondering what's the best setting/s for my bios using this board asus m3n78-vm, had it for a year and
only now that i'm asking.

i'm interested about the ecc setting also, everything's set to default, except sata mode to ahci

everything's working fine btw.

i have winxp pro, 4 gig memory, gts 250 palit video card, creative audigy 2 value sound card.
several sata drives.and samsung burner.

Usually the bios has two sets of defaults. One if failsafe and one is performance. I choose the performance one, but your best bet to find the best is by trial and error.

I have the same board on another pc.

You only need to download and install only that which would make your setup current.

You really only need to update the bios if you will be moving up to a newer processor that is not currently supported by the current bios or if the newer bios fixes a known problem.

You need the latest motherboard chipset driver. (I would install this first if you haven't already)

You need the latest LAN driver.

The audio driver you can either download from Asus or from RealTek.

A:Asus A8N-SLI bios update

while not a hard process... it can be dangerous to flash you BIOS version and you run the risk of turning your computer into a nice paperweight.

first off... what is the biggest reason you are looking to update your BIOS version? any problems can probably be solved by other means unless you have proof that you need to flash the cmos. the safest way to flash to a new BIOS version is to use a utility such as awdflash.exe (Award Flash) in command prompt before the computer boots windows. there are ways to flash the BIOS within windows, but it's typically more reliable to perform the operation in command prompt.

for the actual process... you will need the BIOS file (usually a .bin file), and flash utility like awdflash, and a bootable CDROM, USB drive or floppy disk if you have that. i like using FLASHCD to make bootable disks in which both the BIOS file(s) and tools are copied to. basically, you boot from the CDROM and run the flash utility from the prompt. from there you should just need to input the file you want to flash to the CMOS (and if you are using a flash drive or floppy you can make a backup of the original just in case). if all goes well after the file is flashed, remove the media and restart the computer. done.

you should be able to find a more in-depth guide by searching around for A8N-specific stuff... if you need it. good luck...

I am trying to update the BIOS on my ASUS M5A78L-M USB3 Motherboard.

I downloaded the latest updater program from the ASUS website for my motherboard.

When I run the updater, I have to choose an OS. I choose Win8 64bit.

A pop-up informs me that the program will not run on my system & to contact the OS manufacturer!!

How & where do I contact Microsoft about this?

I have tried everything but the onboard BIOS updater will not recognize a USB port with new BIOS as instructed.

It will not recognize the CD/DVD drive either. It recognizes other drives but cannot use there drives for updating the BIOS!

The AI suite in particular and also Smart Doctor. I was planning to use AI to O/C but one thing that 0502 had that 0203 didn't was all the increments for uping all the params. Does anybody know if 0501 has those settings, and if AI and SD work in this bios version or should I just go back to 0203.

Well, that's what you're asking for when you do BIOS updates just because you can. There is always a chance of failure, and usually nothing can be done afterwards. Asus crash free BIOS is very reputable of being just as useful as a vacuum cleaner for actually recovering a BIOS after a failed flash. Marketing trick basically. It probably works in one of ~25 cases.

Hi I had some problems with a Zalman I think it still has problems it was reporting rpm instead of Anyways I assumed that the Motherboard may well be reporting the wrong rpm s so I decided to check Bios updates I did have the latest Bios Update and assumed that the previous Bios was reporting my CPU cooler as correct So I ran the AsusUpdate utility to see what it can do There is a Bios Downgradable option I didnt have the previos version backed up so I re downloaded the previos version problem... Deluxe Asus Bios update A8V and then ran the Downgrade option I browsed to Asus A8V Deluxe Bios update problem... the Bios file and updated to the previos version All seemed to go well I get no Bios Errors on boot and all settings seem fine But Asus A8V Deluxe Bios update problem... I have issuses On Board Sound dont work Even tho I have a Audigy Card and when I run dxdiag instead of Giving me the Mainboard Name it says quot To Asus A8V Deluxe Bios update problem... be filled by O E M quot So I read on the internet that you can recover the original Bios from the Support CD So I restart PC with CD rom and press Alt F to run Flash Bios Utility when prompted I browse to the Original A V bios file and recover the Bios Again all goes well but still no Onboard Sound Any one have any ideas or is my bios screwed Thx for any input nbsp

A:Asus A8V Deluxe Bios update problem...

So why do you want to have onboard sound when you have an Audigy card? Are you sure the onboard sound is not disabled in the BIOS or automatically disabled when you install a seperate PCI card? Did you install the drivers in Windows?

As for the "To be filled by O.E.M", its not uncommon for some fields to be left blank and it won't cause any problems. Repeatly updating your BIOS can be much more hazardess if something goes wrong and the board will not longer boot at all.

I also don't understand the whole thing about downgrading that you are talking about. Whenever you need to do a BIOS update you only ever need to update to the latest version as all previous fixes are included in the latest one. You can back up the current BIOS version if you wish to have for a backup.

And the fan RPM's; fan speeds are rarely constant and can be mis reported slightly - again not an issue thats worth the risk of updating the BIOS.

Hello! I'm new here at Tech Spot. This is a great website.

Where can I get a copy of the newest BIOS update for my motherboard?

Model: Asus P5GD1-VM Motherboard
Version: 0602
Chipset: I915
Date: 09/06/2005-16:48:11
Onboard Sound: Azalia (swa)
Onboard LAN: Exist (wl)
BIOS Size: 512 K
BIOS Type: AMI

I downloaded all BIOS .ROM files in the official website of Asus. But it weren't compatible with the BIOS to be flashed.

Please help me! Thank you very much in advanced!

A:Motherboard BIOS update

The latest BIOS for your board is version 1015. It's not necessary to load each BIOS in order, just load the latest. To load the BIOS you must copy it to a floppy disc and rename it P5GD1-VM.ROM If you didn't rename it, that's why it won't load. On the same Asus download page, you can get the user manual for your board, which goes into detail how to reflash the BIOS. It can render your motherboard un-bootable if you do it wrong, so I would read the manual before attempting it again, and follow instructions carefully.

Hi so here's part about my bios update problem Below you can find my initial post detailing the problem It's under Read that first Additional steps I took since then sent the laptop to a repair shop which came recommended by a well-respected bios site They tried everything and the laptop's fans do spin meaning also the cpu fans and the led does go on so that's an improvement i guess but since he doesn't have the original bios image for the laptop that's it I did send him the N Ja BIN located in C which should be the original bios backup but that didn't work none of the bios files from the asus website worked either Anyone have any suggestions Or can provide me with the original bios image for the Asus N Ja-JX X Hello I wanted to update the bios with an official bios update from version to I didn't use winflash I used easyflash in the bios Everything seemed to be going okay it deleted the old files wrote the new ones verified the new ones Then it said shutdown in after seconds and it shut down Then nothing happened anymore Power button completely unresponsive The battery light was still on and I'm not sure if I should've just waited I didn't though I thought I had to remove the battery take the power off completely to be able to start it update problem, Asus 2. Please bios n61Ja help! part up again So I'm wondering what are my options here My warranty expired and I don't really have the money to send it in and pay hundreds of bucks on repairs Is there anything I can try CMOS battery reset Anything Please help me out I would be very grateful ps What was sort of odd btw was that easyflash said something like that it was an unsigned bios and if I wanted to flash it anymore if i wanted to 'force' it or something It was with certainty the correct update from the Asus com support site so I didn't take that 'warning' seriously

A:Asus n61Ja bios update problem, part 2. Please help!

Oh, one more thing:

the guy at the repair shop tried all the bios files on the asus website.. and the N61Ja.BIN in C:\.. but none worked..

He told me this:

>>>
biosfile is 2048kB in size.
normally you put the biosfile in the chip from address 0
chip is twice the size. this is sometimes used for a/the backup bios and sometimes just isn't used at all (also they can then release bigger bios versions that will still fit, if they want)
sometimes you put the bios file in from the 2nd or 3rd block; tried all of that
also tried loading it from address 10000h which has worked on a laptop before but that didn't work either
laptop fans and led working says nothing; theyre being powered but without the right bios thats all they will be
<<<

He tested the bios chip and the cmos battery and both were fine, btw

1. Is the flash drive formatted FAT file system
2. QFlash

Updating the BIOS with the Q-Flash Utility

A. Before You Begin

From GIGABYTE's website, download the latest compressed BIOS update file that matches your 1. motherboard model.

Extract the file and save the new BIOS file (e.g. X79UD7.F1) to your USB flash drive or hard drive. Note: 2. The USB flash drive or hard drive must use FAT32/16/12 file system.

Restart the system. During the POST, press the <End> key to enter Q-Flash. Note: You can access Q-Flash 3. by either pressing the <End> key during the POST or pressing the <F8> key in BIOS Setup

A:Problems installing/Uninstalling After BIOS update (ASUS K53E)

Flashing the BIOS should have no effect on the hard drive, other than some BIOS settings being changed to defaults. You can flash the BIOS with no hard drive installed. I think I might reset the BIOS to fail safe defaults or at least look over all the setting to make sure they are set correctly for an SSD drive. If your still not happy then think about doing a repair or re-install. What was the service for? Maybe there is still something wrong with it.

Hey all,

I'm having some trouble with my ASUS BIOS. It is possible one of the reasons which is not letting me enable AGP Texture Acceleration (from DXDIAG). So now I need to update it. Ive read that you can 'flash' this however it seems quite complicated. I read the procedure here - http://www.planetamd64.com/lofiversion/index.php?t11803.html. Personally i dont think i have that ability to literally take apart my PC and dont want to risk that. Is there anything I can do to enable AGP Texture Acceleration w/o updating bios?

I have tried many driver versions. Here is my info

ASUS A8V Deluxe Mobo
Chipset VIA K8t800 pro
southbridge VT8237
CPU: AMD Athlon 64+ 3500+ Socket 939
Current BIOS version : 1017.002 (date: 11/14/2005 - very old)
GFX is a ATI Radeon 9600 Series

Any help si appreciated. thanks in advance.

A:Update ASUS A8V Deluxe BIOS to enable AGP Texture Acceleration? Help!

Hi, linkzor. I looked up your motherboard on the Asus site, and the bios updates they have listed for your motherboard are not even worth upgrading to. They don't list anything about fixing agp texture acceleration, either. However, if you still want to flash your bios, simply visit the asus support website, download their auto-flash bios tool and your bios, and it does everything for you. you do NOT need to take apart your pc.

Also, Perhaps your video card does not support agp texture acceleration?

Can anyone tell how I would go about updating my BIOS?
I need to update it to fully support my AMD FX-4100 Processor.

But when I clicked run nothing happened, Is this meant to happen?
and I don't want to have to flash my BIOS as a lot of places say its a bad thing to do, unless that is the only way of doing it?
Also, how do you find out what is your current BIOS? I thought it told you when you went in the BIOS but I couldn't see it anywhere?

Please could someone help me. Thanks!

This is the reason why I no longer buy brand name "proprietary" PCs anymore. Too many problems with simple upgrades.

You should be able to flash back to the old bios unless gateway PCs don't allow that. You probably flashed to an incorrect bios.

The second post here,

should answer your question about whether it supports AHCI or not (hint: it does, but only partially).

As far as a bios update goes, forget about it. With Abit going out of business more than 4 years ago and their site shutting down, personally I wouldn't trust any site that claims to have a bios for that board. Going to have to live with whatever bios version it has on it.

A:foxconn motherboard bios update fail

Is this an AMI BIOS.
If so, and you can get the new BIOS onto a floppy, there is a possibility you may still be able to flash the new BIOS.

Most Mobos with an AMI BIOS will look for a floppy disk with a bios update on it.

Hi,  Your PC has the latest BIOS already installed.  Forget about the post date. You can try clearing the CMOS. If that doesn't work then NVIDIA 610 is either bad or not compatible with your PC.

I am very very frustrated since I waited a while to get this motherboard from china. My last DFI board randomly died on me and I ordered this as a replacement because I wanted a decent 775 board. I worked on it all night tonight and despite it reading all the hardware... it will not boot unless I reset the cmos every time. On top of that... I can not get the bios to update... it doesn't read any of the 5 usb drives I tried (fat/fat32). Also I tend to get this grey screen when trying to flash it sometimes. I am beside myself at this point after fussing with it for hours on end and I really need some help.

A:Asus P5E3 BIOS won't update and needs CMOS reset to boot every time

Sounds like either the BIOS is corrupted or the motherboard battery is a goner.

Have you tried burning the new BIOS to a bootable CD ?

Installing Windows 7 Service Pack 1
1. Visit the PC manufacturer's website and update ALL drivers. DO NOT use Windows Update or the "Update drivers" function of Device Manager.
2. Check Device Manager for any unknown/disabled devices - if there are unknown/disabled devices, fix them with the latest drivers from the device manufacturer's website (not the PC Manufacturer)
3. Visit Windows Update and get all updates
4. Visit Windows Update and get Service Pack 1 (usually under Important Updates). Read these notes for installing SP1: Steps to follow before you install Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 from the Microsoft Download Center
5. Visit Windows Update and get any other available updates

My original Asus P5ND2-SLI Deluxe doesn't work anymore so I have to replace it. From the beginning I always had issues with the POST and would have to restart from the back of the computer. I'm looking for another MOBO that supports Intel Pentium 4 EE. Looking at other ASUS motherboards I read the same issues with booting. I'm obviously not alone with the previous problems. Does anyone have any other suggestions for good boards that are just solid and consistent? There seems to be a decent ABIT one. I guess I don't want to spend $200 or more on something that's going to give me the same problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I think the Asus boards arent completely solid until you buy p5n32 or better, if you pay 100 or so for a board of course not as good quality is put into it. I have the p5n32 sli premium. Its a champ.

What's the BEST ASUS motherboard available for P4 3.4Ghz?

I've been looking at the Asus P4C800 Deluxe; it allows RAID to be used so that's a definite plus.

Thanks guys,

Hamster.

A:BEST ASUS Motherboard

the P4C800 is a nice board, i would get this if i were building an intel system, but im an amd guy so its all about the A7N8X-E for me. get the P4C800, its will be top end for a while, but its costly. if money is the problem, find a board with the i865PE chipset or equivalent. the IT7-MAX3 is an abit board that is also high end. i think its the IT7, but its the only MAX3 board abit has, take a looksie, because asus board tend to be more expensive, so shop around.

hey guys, i just re-installed Windows XP SP3 on this machine running the A8N-E and i can't find the LAN driver or the general drivers anywhere. i came across this: http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us but it doesn't have the full drivers or anything for the LAN to work.

i know there are sites out there that have the drivers, but these seem dodgy or illegimate with viruses. are there decent sites out there?

thanks

What size is your power supply? You may just need a 450-500 watt power supply.

Hopeing someone can help
Built my first box with above motherboard and found supplied cd not compatible with vista business 32bit. Searched ASUS website. Found that they have a listing for Vista. Dowloaded and installed. Everything working except for "device driver not installed" for simple PCI controller. Searched for more drivers but can't find one. Anyone else had same problem or can anyone suggest a solution. When I try to update the driver, vista cannot find a driver on the web, installation cd, or the folder that I have downloaded the new software too!!

Thanks

Hi,
Can anyone tell me whether the ASUS motherboard P4GL-MX based on Intel 845 GL chipset support Intel Celeron 1.7 GHz?

The company's web-page http://www.asus.com/prog/spec.asp?m=P4BGL-MX&langs=01
talks only about it supporting the Intel Pentium 4 with 256/512 KB L2 cache so i wondered whether it would support a Celeron with 128 KB L2 cache.

Thank you.

ANYONE out there who has built a PC designed specifically for Home Media usage EG: movies, photos, etc ( not gaming) using a ASUS Intel motherboard 775, CPU E8400, P35, XP PRO, as I'm unsure which board might be the best all rounder.

thanks.

A:asus motherboard

Have you chosen the computer case you are going to use yet?

For a home media PC, the one defining factor is available "space". (meaning how large of a computer case are you going to use?)

A smaller case may limit you a Micro ATX or smaller MB, low-profile video/audio card or integrated video/audio, low profile CPU heatsink/fan, etc. A smaller case will also mean a lower power PSU which may also limit your choice of other parts.
